Coarse-to-Fine Lifted MAP Inference in Computer Vision

There is a vast body of theoretical research on lifted inference in probabilistic graphical models (PGMs). However, few demonstrations exist where lifting is applied in conjunction with top of the line applied algorithms. We pursue the applicability of lifted inference for computer vision (CV), with the insight that a globally optimal (MAP) labeling will likely have the same label for two symmetric pixels. The success of our approach lies in efficiently handling a distinct unary potential on every node (pixel), typical of CV applications. This allows us to lift the large class of algorithms that model a CV problem via PGM inference. We propose a generic template for coarse-to-fine (C2F) inference in CV, which progressively refines an initial coarsely lifted PGM for varying quality-time trade-offs. We demonstrate the performance of C2F inference by developing lifted versions of two near state-of-the-art CV algorithms for stereo vision and interactive image segmentation. We find that, against flat algorithms, the lifted versions have a much superior anytime performance, without any loss in final solution quality.Comment: Published in IJCAI 201

    Your Body Owns the Tattoo!

Put yourself in the shoes of someone who receives a new tattoo. Eager to share the design with friends, you start snapping pictures of the fresh body art. You send a text alongside the pictures saying, “Check out my new tattoo!” Ordinarily, one may not question your ownership here. But legal questions may arise in a situation where a videogame company profits off the videogame avatar of a tattooed celebrity like LeBron James. The issue becomes whether the tattoo artist has copyright protections over the art, or does it belong to the individual whose body bears the ink. There is a strong argument to be made that a court must consider the client’s personal autonomy and freedom to the tattooed individual’s own body. A Study on Female and Sports Condition in India

This article proposes to examine the situation of woman sports status in India. We need sportswomen of generation to achieve the reigns and encourage the coming generations. This new role made women, visible in the social space which enabled women to put down into the field of sports as well. By appearing at the institutional and other realms of sports in India the paper explains how the gendered practice of sports marginalizes women in multiple ways. Our society has to make towards a massive cultural reform where we hold a sound work ethic. Until that is done Indian women will be just giving way after a mirage, not medals, in international sporting events. Although the most welcome gains in opportunities and an ever growing publicity of women's sports, the effects of a long traditionally gender bias in sports still persist. It in the public space or in the private space women have been sounding off about the lack of coverage for sport by media since a very long time. This has made a real bad effect on the development of mutant. (1*) Media support and fan loyalty are also much more common in male sports than women. The article tried to explore this ambivalent attitude of Indian sporting women. Olympics: Indian team also female included and we are hop full to achieve a medal for India
