Drift Observations and Mitigation in LCLS-II RF

The LCLS-II RF system physically spans ~700m and has strict requirements -- on the order of 20 fs -- on the phase stability of the accelerating RF fields in its SRF linac. While each LLRF rack is crudely temperature-stabilized, the weather inside the service building as a whole is usually compared to a tin shack in the California sun. A phase-averaging reference line is the primary system deployed in support of the phase stability goals. There are other, secondary subsystems (SEL phase offset, and determination of cavity detuning) that are also sensitive to RF phase drift. We present measurements of phase shifts observed in the overall RF system, and how diagnostics are able to sense and correct for them during beam operations.Comment: Talk presented at LLRF Workshop 2023 (LLRF2023, arXiv: 2310.03199

Clinical observations on a new antihypertensive drug, 2-(2,6-dichlorphenylamine)-2-imidazoline hydrochloride

The drug 2-(2,6-dichlorphenylamine)-2-imidazoline hydrochloride, available as Catapres, was given to 16 patients with established hypertension. Six patients were studied for one month to detect abnormalities in carbohydrate metabolism. None were found. Ten severely hypertensive patients were maintained for from 5 to 11 months on Catapres and diuretics.In a single dose, Catapres invariably lowered the blood pressure significantly, but without producing orthostatic hypotension. The maximum effect occurred between 2 and 3 hours after ingestion of the drug. The duration of drug action was 4 to 6 hours.In long-term treatment of ten patients, Catapres, combined with a diuretic, proved to be as effective as a diuretic plus guanethidine or Aldomet, which the patients had previously been taking. A dose of 0.400 to 1.200 mg. of Catapres was equivalent to 1.5 to 2.0 Gm. of Aldomet or 50 to 100 mg. of guanethidine.The chief side effect of the drug was drowsiness, but this was not incapacitating, it did not require cessation of treatment, and it became less prominent with the passage of time. In patients who had experienced severe orthostatic hypotension on other drug regimens, the condition was considerably relieved by Catapres. Synthesis, Molecular Structure, and 1H NMR Analysis of Bis(tetraphenylcyclopentadienyl)ruthenium(II)

Reaction of [Ru(p-cymene)Cl2]2 with K(η5-C5HPh4) in refluxing diglyme yields (η5-C5Ph4)2Ru in ca 50% yield. The complex was not susceptible to oxidation or reduction. (C5HPH4)2Ru crystallizes in the triclinic P1 space group with a = 8.549(4), b = 10.793(4), c = 12.842(5) Å, α = 65.98(3), β = 73.10(3), γ = 83.49(3)° and Z = 1. The least-squares data refined to R(F) = 3.53% and R(wF = 3.82% for the 3952 independent observed reflections with Fo ≥ 5σ(Fo). The metal-centroid distance is 1.832(2) Å and all other bond lengths and angles are similar to other octaphenylmetallocenes. 1H NMR analysis employing 2D J-resolved, COSY and low temperature techniques allowed assignment of all protons in the molecule. A study of hypertension in twins

A study of the blood pressure of 86 pairs of like-sexed twins over age 40 selected at random was performed. Twelve per cent were found to have a diastolic blood pressure in excess of 94 mm. Hg. In 4 out of 5 identical twin sets both members were found to have hypertension of about equal magnitude. In the fifth set, the predetermined definition of diastolic hypertension was not met in one member of the pair, although the systolic blood pressure was clearly elevated. In two identical twin sets, where information concerning previous blood pressure could be obtained, the age of onset of the hypertension differed. Among the 49 dizygetic twin sets, diastolic hypertension was found in 15 per cent of the individuals. In 3 of 12 of these pairs, it was present in both members.Since the prevalence of hypertension after age 40 in the identical twin sample resembles that in the population at large, it is concluded that the ultimate development of this condition is heavily dependent on genetic influences.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/32777/1/0000150.pd

Abusive supervision and employee deviance : a multifoci justice perspective

In order to address the influence of unethical leader behaviors in the form of abusive supervision on subordinates’ retaliatory responses, we meta-analytically examined the impact of abusive supervision on subordinate deviance, inclusive of the role of justice and power distance. Specifically, we investigated the mediating role of supervisory- and organizationally focused justice and the moderating role of power distance as one model explaining why and when abusive supervision is related to subordinate deviance toward supervisors and organizations. With 79 independent sample studies (N = 22,021), we found that abusive supervision was more strongly related to supervisory-focused justice, compared to organizationally focused justice perceptions, and both types of justice perceptions were related to target-similar deviance (deviance toward the supervisor and organization, respectively). Finally, our results showed that the negative implications of abusive supervision were stronger in lower power distance cultures compared to higher power distance cultures.http://link.springer.com/journal/105512020-09-20hj2020Human Resource Managemen
