Some Properties of O-Methyltransferase from Bamboo Shoot
この論文は国立情報学研究所の学術雑誌公開支援事業により電子化されました。The incubation of CA, 5-HFA and TCA with sliced bamboo shoot in the presence of methionine-^CH_3 gave radioactive FA and SA. On the other hand, the incubation of those compounds with sliced gingko shoot yielded only FA from CA and did not SA from 5-HFA and TCA. The enzyme preparation obtained from bamboo shoot was fractionated by (NH_4)_2SO_4-and iso-electric point precipitations and column chromatographies on DEAE-cellulose. Variation of the ratios (SA/FA) which were obtained by assay of O-methyltransferase are indicative of possible presence of two enzymes in the bamboo enzyme preparation. The results are discussed in relation to the biochemical differences of the methoxyl patterns in lignins between angiosperms and gymnosperms
Synthesis of Guaiacylglycerol-β-Coniferyl and β-Coniferyl Aldehyde Ethers
この論文は国立情報学研究所の学術雑誌公開支援事業により電子化されました。A new synthetic method for the preparation of guaiacylglycerol-β-coniferyl and β-coniferyl aldehyde ethers, representing the most important lignin substructure are described as one in a series of synthetic studies of lignin model compounds
Effect of Polysaccharides on Dehydropolymerization of Coniferyl Alcohol
この論文は国立情報学研究所の学術雑誌公開支援事業により電子化されました。Molecular weights of DHPs of coniferyl alcohol prepared in the presence of beech hemicellulose and pectic acid a little increased as compared with that of DHP prepared in the absence of the polysaccharides. However, the molecular weights of the DHPs were still about a half of that of conifer MWL. The amounts of degradation products and functional groups of the DHPs suggested a general resemblance in the mode of interphenylpropane linkages between the DHPs and conifer MWL. As main differences the DHPs gave higher amounts of coniferyl aldehyde and vanillin in acidolysis and of phenolic hydroxyl- and 6-hydroxybenzyl alcohol groups
Aromatic ring cleavage of β-O-4 lignin substructure model dimers by lignin peroxidase of Phanerochaete chrysosporium
AbstractExtracellular lignin peroxidase (ligninase) from Phanerochaete chrysosporium catalyzed aromatic ring cleavage of β-O-4 lignin substructure model dimers to give three esters of arylglycerol, cyclic carbonate, formate and methyl oxalate. H2O2, was required for the activity of the enzyme

Biochemical Aspects of Lignification and Heartwood Formation
この論文は国立情報学研究所の学術雑誌公開支援事業により電子化されました。Metabolic differences in the formation of gymnosperm- and angiosperm lignins were explained in terms of the different functions of O-methyltransferase and redacting enzymes which participate in methylation and reduction of hydroxycinnamic acid intermediates in biosynthetic pathway of these two types of lignins. Chemical properties of dehydrogenation polymer (DHP) of sinapyl alcohol were characterized and possible occurrence of syringyl lignins in hardwoods was discussed. DHP and dimers of p-coumaryl alcohol were also characterized and discussed in relation to the formation of grass lignin. Heartwood formation was explained in terms of metabolic changes in ray parenchyma cells in transition wood and the biosynthetic site of heartwood extractives was elucidated
