    Minority Game With Peer Pressure

To study the interplay between global market choice and local peer pressure, we construct a minority-game-like econophysical model. In this so-called networked minority game model, every selfish player uses both the historical minority choice of the population and the historical choice of one's neighbors in an unbiased manner to make decision. Results of numerical simulation show that the level of cooperation in the networked minority game differs remarkably from the original minority game as well as the prediction of the crowd-anticrowd theory. We argue that the deviation from the crowd-anticrowd theory is due to the negligence of the effect of a four point correlation function in the effective Hamiltonian of the system.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures in revtex 4.

How To Attain Maximum Profit In Minority Game?

What is the physical origin of player cooperation in minority game? And how to obtain maximum global wealth in minority game? We answer the above questions by studying a variant of minority game from which players choose among NcN_c alternatives according to strategies picked from a restricted set of strategy space. Our numerical experiment concludes that player cooperation is the result of a suitable size of sampling in the available strategy space. Hence, the overall performance of the game can be improved by suitably adjusting the strategy space size.Comment: 4 pages in revtex 4 styl

Exact States in Waveguides With Periodically Modulated Nonlinearity

We introduce a one-dimensional model based on the nonlinear Schrodinger/Gross-Pitaevskii equation where the local nonlinearity is subject to spatially periodic modulation in terms of the Jacobi dn function, with three free parameters including the period, amplitude, and internal form-factor. An exact periodic solution is found for each set of parameters and, which is more important for physical realizations, we solve the inverse problem and predict the period and amplitude of the modulation that yields a particular exact spatially periodic state. Numerical stability analysis demonstrates that the periodic states become modulationally unstable for large periods, and regain stability in the limit of an infinite period, which corresponds to a bright soliton pinned to a localized nonlinearity-modulation pattern. Exact dark-bright soliton complex in a coupled system with a localized modulation structure is also briefly considered . The system can be realized in planar optical waveguides and cigar-shaped atomic Bose-Einstein condensates.Comment: EPL, in pres

Extremal Black Hole/CFT Correspondence in (Gauged) Supergravities

    Get PDF
We extend the investigation of the recently proposed Kerr/CFT correspondence to large classes of rotating black hole solutions in gauged and ungauged supergravities. The correspondence, proposed originally for four-dimensional Kerr black holes, asserts that the quantum states in the near-horizon region of an extremal rotating black hole are holographically dual to a two-dimensional chiral theory whose Virasoro algebra arises as an asymptotic symmetry of the near-horizon geometry. In fact in dimension D there are [(D-1)/2] commuting Virasoro algebras. We consider a general canonical class of near-horizon geometries in arbitrary dimension D, and show that in any such metric, the [(D-1)/2] central charges each imply, via the Cardy formula, a microscopic entropy that agrees with the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of the associated extremal black hole. In the remainder of the paper we show for most of the known rotating black hole solutions of gauged supergravity, and for the ungauged supergravity solutions with four charges in D=4 and three charges in D=5, that their extremal near-horizon geometries indeed lie within the canonical form. This establishes that in all these examples, the microscopic entropies of the dual CFTs agree with the Bekenstein-Hawking entropies of the extremal rotating black holes.Comment: 32 pages, references added and minor typos fixe

Muonium as a shallow center in GaN

A paramagnetic muonium (Mu) state with an extremely small hyperfine parameter was observed for the first time in single-crystalline GaN below 25 K. It has a highly anisotropic hyperfine structure with axial symmetry along the [0001] direction, suggesting that it is located either at a nitrogen-antibonding or a bond-centered site oriented parallel to the c-axis. Its small ionization energy (=< 14 meV) and small hyperfine parameter (--10^{-4} times the vacuum value) indicate that muonium in one of its possible sites produces a shallow state, raising the possibility that the analogous hydrogen center could be a source of n-type conductivity in as-grown GaN.Comment: 4 figures, to be published in Phys. Agent swarm classification network ASCN

    Get PDF
In this paper we introduced a newly RBF Classification Network - "Agent Swarm Classification Network ASCN", which is trained by a Multi-agent systems (MAS) approach. MAS can be regarded as a swarm of independent software agents interact with each other to achieve common goals, complete concurrent distributed tasks under autonomous control. By treating each neuron as an agent, the weights of neurons can be determined through a set of pre-defined simple agent behavior. Three sets of experiments are examined to observe the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2004 IEEE.published_or_final_versio

Response knowledge learning of autonomous agent

    Get PDF
In robot applications, the performance of a robot agent is measured by the quantity of award received from its response. Many literatures [1-5] define the response as either a state diagram or a neural network. Due to the absence of a desired response, neither of them is applicable to an unstructural environment. In this paper, a novel Response Knowledge Learning algorithm is proposed to handle this domain. By using a set of experiences, the algorithm can extract the contributed experiences to construct the response function. Two sets of environments are provided to illustrate the performance of the proposed algorithm. The results show that it can effectively construct the response function that receives an award which is very close to the true maximum.published_or_final_versio
