Erratum: Proton and Hydrogen Transport through Hydrogen Environments: Ionization and Stripping
Corrected data is provided here for ionization in H+ + H for the laboratory collision energies between 50 and 10,000 keV regarding the integral and differential cross sections, as well as average values of kinematic parameters such as energy loss and projectile scattering angle...Fil: Cariatore, Nelson Daniel. Non-random cratering flux in recent time
Proposed periodic cycles of mass mortality have been linked to periodic changes in the impact flux on Earth. Such changes in the impact flux, however, also should be recorded on the Moon. Previous studies have concluded that the impact flux on the Moon over the last 1 to 2 billion years has been reasonably constant, but sudden changes in the impact flux over time intervals as short as 30 my could not be detected in these studies unless the added crater population greatly exceeded the cumulative cratering record. Consequently this study focuses only on bright-rayed craters larger than 1 km thereby not only limiting the study to recent craters but also largely eliminating contamination by secondary craters. Preservation of ray patterns and other fine-scale surface textures in the ejecta provides first-order culling of craters younger than Tycho, i.e., about 100 my. Although a periodic change in the impact flux in the Earth-Moon system cannot yet be confirmed from the data, a non-random component appears to exist with an increased flux around 7 and 15 my. The concentrations in different quadrants of the lunar hemisphere would be consistent with a shower of debris generally smaller than 0.5 km
Preferencje klientów związane z zakupami online
Nowadays online shopping is becoming more popular among Polish consumers. The aim of the article is to establish the existence of statistically signifiant differences between certain aspects of the behaviour of consumers when shopping online and their age. The empirical base for the article comprises the material obtained as a result of a survey carried out on a sample of 597 people buying over the Internet.
Some remarks on the Lieb-Schultz-Mattis theorem and its extension to higher dimensions
The extension of the Lieb-Schultz-Mattis theorem to dimensions larger than
one is discussed. It is explained why the variational wave-function built by
the previous authors is of no help to prove the theorem in dimension larger
than one. The short range R.V.B. picture of Sutherland, Rokhsar and Kivelson,
Read and Chakraborty gives a strong support to the assertion that the theorem
is indeed valid in any dimension. Some illustrations of the general ideas are
displayed on exact spectra.Comment: 12 pages, LaTeX with 4 EPS figures embedded in the documen
Earning the Rank of Respect: One Woman\u27s Passage from Victorian Propriety to Battlefront Responsibility
Like Civil War soldiers, nurses in the Northern forces found it difficult to sustain the conflicting duties to home, nation, and army. It was especially difficult for women to assume responsibilities in battlefield hospitals. Women struggled with their new roles, which challenged and extended notions of nineteenth century womanhood. Furthermore, navigating a military establishment of male power, while also trying to maintain connections to home, forced women to use gender assumptions to their advantage when trying to gain agency in the hospitals, respect from their patients, and independence from their superiors. Women brought their Victorian manners, morals and duties into the public sphere out of necessity for the war effort and proved themselves worthy of respect by skill and strength when the government’s medical care was insufficient. Women of the North and their male allies were what the Civil War demanded and were therefore more valuable than skill in military strategy or even medical technique
