Summing up Subleading Sudakov Logarithms
We apply the strategy of regions within dimensional regularization to find
functions involved in evolution equations which govern the asymptotic dynamics
of the Abelian form factor and four-fermion amplitude in the SU(N) gauge theory
in the Sudakov limit up to the next-to-leading logarithmic approximation. The
results are used for the analysis of the dominant electroweak corrections to
the fermion-antifermion pair production in the annihilation at high
energy.Comment: 17 pages LaTeX, missprins corrected, references adde
Next-to-Next-to-Leading Electroweak Logarithms for W-Pair Production at LHC
We derive the high energy asymptotic of one- and two-loop corrections in the
next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic approximation to the differential cross
section of -pair production at the LHC. For large invariant mass of the
W-pair the (negative) one-loop terms can reach more than 40%, which are
partially compensated by the (positive) two-loop terms of up to 10%.Comment: 23 pages, 9 figures, added explanations in section 3, corrected typos

Heavy-quarkonium creation and annihilation with O(alpha_s^3 ln(alpha_s)) accuracy
We calculate the O(alpha_s^3 ln(alpha_s)) contributions to the
heavy-quarkonium production and annihilation rates. Our result sheds new light
on the structure of the high-order perturbative corrections and opens a new
perspective for a high-precision theoretical analysis. We also determine the
three-loop anomalous dimensions of the nonrelativistic vector and pseudoscalar
currents.Comment: 10 pages (Latex). Eq. (6) corrected, conclusions unchange
Top Threshold Physics
Running a future Linear Collider at the top pair threshold allows for precise
measurements of the mass, the widths and the couplings of the top quark. I give
a nontechnical review on recent theoretical developments and the theory status
in top threshold physics concerning QCD corrections and top quark finite
lifetime and electroweak effects. I also discuss threshold physics in the
context of measurements of the top Yukawa coupling from
and of squark pair production.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figures, PoS style. Invited talk presented at the

Comparative chloroplast genomics and phylogenetics of Fagopyrum esculentum ssp. ancestrale – A wild ancestor of cultivated buckwheat
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Chloroplast genome sequences are extremely informative about species-interrelationships owing to its non-meiotic and often uniparental inheritance over generations. The subject of our study, <it>Fagopyrum esculentum</it>, is a member of the family Polygonaceae belonging to the order Caryophyllales. An uncertainty remains regarding the affinity of Caryophyllales and the asterids that could be due to undersampling of the taxa. With that background, having access to the complete chloroplast genome sequence for <it>Fagopyrum </it>becomes quite pertinent.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We report the complete chloroplast genome sequence of a wild ancestor of cultivated buckwheat, <it>Fagopyrum esculentum </it>ssp. <it>ancestrale</it>. The sequence was rapidly determined using a previously described approach that utilized a PCR-based method and employed universal primers, designed on the scaffold of multiple sequence alignment of chloroplast genomes. The gene content and order in buckwheat chloroplast genome is similar to <it>Spinacia oleracea</it>. However, some unique structural differences exist: the presence of an intron in the <it>rpl2 </it>gene, a frameshift mutation in the <it>rpl23 </it>gene and extension of the inverted repeat region to include the <it>ycf1 </it>gene. Phylogenetic analysis of 61 protein-coding gene sequences from 44 complete plastid genomes provided strong support for the sister relationships of Caryophyllales (including Polygonaceae) to asterids. Further, our analysis also provided support for <it>Amborella </it>as sister to all other angiosperms, but interestingly, in the bayesian phylogeny inference based on first two codon positions <it>Amborella </it>united with Nymphaeales.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Comparative genomics analyses revealed that the <it>Fagopyrum </it>chloroplast genome harbors the characteristic gene content and organization as has been described for several other chloroplast genomes. However, it has some unique structural features distinct from previously reported complete chloroplast genome sequences. Phylogenetic analysis of the dataset, including this new sequence from non-core Caryophyllales supports the sister relationship between Caryophyllales and asterids.</p
1S and MSbar Bottom Quark Masses from Upsilon Sum Rules
The bottom quark 1S mass, , is determined using sum rules which
relate the masses and the electronic decay widths of the mesons to
moments of the vacuum polarization function. The 1S mass is defined as half the
perturbative mass of a fictitious bottom-antibottom quark bound
state, and is free of the ambiguity of order which plagues the
pole mass definition. Compared to an earlier analysis by the same author, which
had been carried out in the pole mass scheme, the 1S mass scheme leads to a
much better behaved perturbative series of the moments, smaller uncertainties
in the mass extraction and to a reduced correlation of the mass and the strong
coupling. We arrive at GeV taking
as an input. From that we determine the
mass as GeV. The error in can be reduced if the three-loop corrections to the relation of
pole and mass are known and if the error in the strong coupling is
decreased.Comment: 20 pages, latex; numbers in Tabs. 2,3,4 corrected, a reference and a
