First occurrence of two pteromalid species (Hym.: Chalcidoidea) in Iran
The first occurrence of two parasitoid species belonging to the family Pteromalidae (Hym.: Chalcidoidea) in alfalfa fields of Maragheh (Azarbaijan Sharghi province) are reported: 1- Halticopterina moczari Erdös, which was collected in 22 June 2003, and 2- Trichomalus rufinus (Walker) which was collected in 3 August 2003. Both species were collected on Medicago sativa by the second author
First report of Eurytoma cynipsea (Hym.: Eurytomidae) from Iran
A contribution to the knowledge of family Chalcididae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea) in Iran
In the course of this study, the number of recorded chalcidids (Hym.: Chalcididae) from Iranincreased to 42 species (including one unidentified species of the genus Lasiochalcidia Masi), of whichfifteen species and four genera are new to Iranian chalcidid fauna. The family Chalcididae is repredentedby three subfamilies in Iran as follows: Chalcidinae (16 species), Dirhininae (two species), andHaltichellinae (24 species). The genus Varzobia Nikol'skaya is here synonymized with TanycoryphusCameron and the type species transferred to that genus as Tanycoryphus tibialis (Nikol'skaya, 1960)comb. n. The species Lasiochalcidia indescripta Bouèek, 1952 stat. rev. is removed from synonymywith L. guineensis (Steffan, 1951). The validity of the species Peltochalcidia ferrierei Steffan is restored, being removed from junior synonymy with P. benoisti Steffan, and transferred to the genus PsilochalcisKieffer. The species Peltochalcidia oranensis Bouèek, 1952 is here synonymized with P. benoisti.Complementary information on the biology, morphology and distribution of the species as well as apreliminary list of the Iranian chalcidid species are presented
New record of Stephanodes similis (Hym.: Mymaridae) from Iran
Mokrzeckia obscura (Hym.: Pteromalidae), a hyperparasitoid of diamondback moth and a new record from Iran
Biological parameters of Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Hem.: Aleyrodidae) in four greenhouse cucumber cultivars
Greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood), is an important pest of greenhouse throughout the world that causes serious damage on agricultural products. In this research, some biological parameters of the pest were studied in four cucumber cultivars (Royal Sluis, Soltan, Negin and Vida) at two heights (60 and 90 cm) in a greenhouse at 19-26 °C and 80% ± 5 RH. The developmental time of all immature stages were 27.49 ± 0.34, 28.23 ± 0.3, 26.63 ± 0.24 and 27.44 ± 0.3 days, in all cultivars, respectively, but it was slightly longer at the height of 90 cm compared to 60 cm (28.65 ± 0.24 vs. 26.43 ± 0.14 days, respectively). The preimaginal mortality percent ranged from 4 to 7% in different treatments, although this difference was not significant. Female longevities were 27.9 ± 0.67, 21.35 ± 0.34, 26.71 ± 0.6 and 22 ± 0.46 days in the cultivars, respectively (P < 0.01). It was also averaged as 23.29 ± 0.4 and 26.4 ± 0.66 days at both heights. The number of eggs / female were 203.82 ± 4.89, 132.26 ± 3.57, 210.68 ± 5.31 and 162.79 ± 5.15 in different cultivars with an average of 167.66 ± 5.68 and 187.98 ± 4.75 in 90 and 60 cm (P < 0.01). The sex ratio showed no significance among the cultivars at all heights
First record of the seed-eating wasp, Systole eremodauci (Hym.: Eurytomidae) from Iran
The family Eurytomidae includes economically important wasps, which feed on the seeds of various agricultural, horticultural and rangeland plants. This report is part of a survey conducted during 2009-2012 to identify the seed-eating pests of non-legume rangeland plants in the Fars province of Iran. The eurytomid species Systole eremodauci Zerova, 1994 was collected on ammoniacum plant, Dorema ammoniacum (D. Don.), and is first recorded from Iran
Two new records of Chalcidoidea (Hymenoptera) from Iran
Cerococcus longipilosus (Archangelskaya) (Hem.: Cerococcidae)
First report of Polysarcus denticauda (Tettigoniidae: Phaneropterinae) from Iran and its bioacoustic characteristics
In 2013, during a bioacoustic investigation upon bushcrickets (Orthoptera, Ensifera) in Azarbaijan-e Sharghi, north-west of Iran, some ensiferans were collected in Azarshahr and identified as Polysarcus denticauda (Charpentier, 1825) (Tettigoniidae: Phaneropterinae). This is the first record of the species from Iran. Herewith, several diagnostic morphological and bioacoustic remarks are given
