Plasmonic Effect on the Population Dynamics and the Optical Response in a Hybrid V-Type Three-Level Quantum Dot-Metallic Nanoparticle Nanosystem

We investigated theoretically the exciton-plasmon coupling effects on the population dynamics and the absorption properties of a hybrid nanosystem composed of a metal nanoparticle (MNP) and a V-type three level semiconductor quantum dot (SQD), which are created by the interaction with the induced dipole moments in the SQD and the MNP, respectively. Excitons of the SQD and the plasmons of the MNP in such a hybrid nanosystem could be coupled strongly or weakly to demonstrate novel properties of the hybrid system. Our results show that the nonlinear optical response of the hybrid nanosystem can be greatly enhanced or depressed due to the exciton-plasmon couplings.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1507.0445

Numerical analysis for a unified 2 factor model of structural and reduced form types for corporate bonds with fixed discrete coupon

Conditions of Stability for explicit finite difference scheme and some results of numerical analysis for a unified 2 factor model of structural and reduced form types for corporate bonds with fixed discrete coupon are provided. It seems to be difficult to get solution formula for PDE model which generalizes Agliardi's structural model [1] for discrete coupon bonds into a unified 2 factor model of structural and reduced form types and we study a numerical analysis for it by explicit finite difference scheme. These equations are parabolic equations with 3 variables and they include mixed derivatives, so the explicit finite difference scheme is not stable in general. We find conditions for the explicit finite difference scheme to be stable, in the case that it is stable, numerically compute the price of the bond and analyze its credit spread and duration.Comment: 15 pages, 12 figure

A Stable Minutia Descriptor based on Gabor Wavelet and Linear Discriminant Analysis

The minutia descriptor which describes characteristics of minutia, plays a major role in fingerprint recognition. Typically, fingerprint recognition systems employ minutia descriptors to find potential correspondence between minutiae, and they use similarity between two minutia descriptors to calculate overall similarity between two fingerprint images. A good minutia descriptor can improve recognition accuracy of fingerprint recognition system and largely reduce comparing time. A good minutia descriptor should have high ability to distinguish between different minutiae and at the same time should be robust in difficult conditions including poor quality image and small size image. It also should be effective in computational cost of similarity among descriptors. In this paper, a robust minutia descriptor is constructed using Gabor wavelet and linear discriminant analysis. This minutia descriptor has high distinguishing ability, stability and simple comparing method. Experimental results on FVC2004 and FVC2006 databases show that the proposed minutia descriptor is very effective in fingerprint recognition

Population Dynamics and the Optical Absorption in Hybrid Metal Nanoparticle - Semiconductor Quantum dot Nanosystem

We studied theoretically the population dynamics and the absorption spectrum of hybrid nanosystem consisted of a matal nanoparticle (MNP) and a semiconductor quantum dot(SQD). We investigated the exciton-plasmon coupling effects on the population dynamics and the absorption properties of the nanostructure. Our results show that the nonlinear optical response of the hybrid nanosystem can be greatly enhanced or depressed due to the exciton-plasmon couplings. The results obtained here may have the potential applications of nanoscale optical devices such as optical switches and quantum devices such as a single photon transistor.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figure

We suggest a possibility that the photon can acquire a finite mass in a medium when the external interaction and symmetry is broken on the basis of Chern-Simons gauge theory

In our paper we derived the classical motion equation of electromagnetic field in space with Higgs field and by means of it discussed the distributions of charge and current formed when the static electrical and magnetic fields are interacting with the spherically symmetrical Higgs field, and predicted the electrical polarizability of electron

Investigation of the Cubic Boron Nitride Nucleation under the High Pressure and the High Temperature

In this paper we have theoretically found the activation energy (420.38kJ/mol420.38kJ/mol) for the transformation from hBN to cBN in the microscopic viewpoint. We have introduced an analytical formula representing the dependence of nucleus formation time on the activation energy, synthesis pressure and temperature. We have theoretically determined the boundary line of cBN nucleus formation region in the P−TP-T phase diagram on the basis of the diffusion mechanism of cBN nucleus formation. We have found that the cBN crystal nucleus formation time is less than 300ms300ms by comparing of the theory and experiment

The Binomial Tree Method and Explicit Difference Schemes for American Options with Time Dependent Coefficients

Binomial tree methods (BTM) and explicit difference schemes (EDS) for the variational inequality model of American options with time dependent coefficients are studied. When volatility is time dependent, it is not reasonable to assume that the dynamics of the underlying asset's price forms a binomial tree if a partition of time interval with equal parts is used. A time interval partition method that allows binomial tree dynamics of the underlying asset's price is provided. Conditions under which the prices of American option by BTM and EDS have the monotonic property on time variable are found. Using convergence of EDS for variational inequality model of American options to viscosity solution the decreasing property of the price of American put options and increasing property of the optimal exercise boundary on time variable are proved. First, put options are considered. Then the linear homogeneity and call-put symmetry of the price functions in the BTM and the EDS for the variational inequality model of American options with time dependent coefficients are studied and using them call options are studied.Comment: 39 pages, 4 figures; In this version, some new results for American call options are added in Sections 6,7 and

Experimental study on the influence of binders on plastic deformation during sintering of cubic boron nitride powder under high pressure and high temperature

In this work, sintered polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (cBN) compacts, with titanium carbonitride (TiC0.7N0.3) and titanium nitride (TiN), respectively, as binders, were prepared at temperature of 1450{\deg}C and pressure of 5.5 GPa during 3 minutes, and the influence of binders on the plastic deformation of cBN powder due to the sintering process was experimentally investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. It was shown that the sintered compact with titanium carbonitride as a binder displays more intense plastic deformation of cBN grains than that with titanium nitride binder. This result indicated that if the binders are different, then products formed during sintering of cBN powders under high pressure and high temperature (HP-HT) are different so that the stress concentration at the cBN grain boundaries and a pinning effect, reducing the mobility of the dislocations and preventing annealing, are different in two cases

Reductive property of new fuzzy reasoning method based on distance measure

Firstly in this paper we propose a new criterion function for evaluation of the reductive property about the fuzzy reasoning result for fuzzy modus ponens and fuzzy modus tollens. Secondly unlike fuzzy reasoning methods based on the similarity measure, we propose a new fuzzy reasoning method based on distance measure. Thirdly the reductive property for 5 fuzzy reasoning methods are checked with respect to fuzzy modus ponens and fuzzy modus tollens. Through the experiment, we show that proposed method is better than the previous methods in accordance with human thinking
