Exact dynamical AdS black holes and wormholes with a Klein-Gordon field
We present several classes of exact solutions in the Einstein-Klein-Gordon
system with a cosmological constant. The spacetime has spherical, plane, or
hyperbolic symmetry and the higher-dimensional solutions are obtained in a
closed form only in the plane symmetric case. Among them, the class-I solution
represents an asymptotically locally anti-de Sitter (AdS) dynamical black hole
or wormhole. In four and higher dimensions, the generalized Misner-Sharp
quasi-local mass blows up at AdS infinity, inferring that the spacetime is only
locally AdS. In three dimensions, the scalar field becomes trivial and the

Younger adults with severe physical disabilities in the Capital Region
In Spring, 1994 the Gerontology Research Centre at Simon Fraser University was commissioned to undertake a project that would provide the Health Planning Division of the Capital Regional District of British Columbia (CRD) with information that would facilitate strategic planning for younger adults with severe physical disabilities. The specific goals of the project were to: 1) define the pertinent characteristics of persons aged 19-55 with severe physical disabilities living in the CRD, including: their socio-demographic characteristics (age and gender distribution, education, marital status, housing and living arrangement, sources of income); health and functional status (diagnosis, level of performance of Activities of Daily Living and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living); and available social supports; 2) ascertain consumer preferences (clients and their families) as to the type and location of housing and support services they require; 3) critically review existing health and social service programs in the CRD and province, and policies targeted to/encompassing younger adults with severe physical disabilities, with respect to their ability to respond to the identified consumer preferences; 4) recommend the type and level of resources required to meet consumer preferences. To fulfill the commission, the following activities were undertaken: Phase 1. Literature Review - An extensive electronic literature search and review was conducted. Unpublished material obtained from the Ministry of Health and other contacts was also reviewed (see: Gutman, G.M. (1995). Profile of Continuing Care Clients - Assuming that most younger adults with severe physical disabilities living in the CRD were known to the Continuing Care Division of the Ministry of Health, a client profile was constructed using information from 153 clients\u27 LTC-1 forms, the Division\u27s standard assessment form (see Chapter 2 of this report for findings)
Generalized Bayesian Record Linkage and Regression with Exact Error Propagation
Record linkage (de-duplication or entity resolution) is the process of
merging noisy databases to remove duplicate entities. While record linkage
removes duplicate entities from such databases, the downstream task is any
inferential, predictive, or post-linkage task on the linked data. One goal of
the downstream task is obtaining a larger reference data set, allowing one to
perform more accurate statistical analyses. In addition, there is inherent
record linkage uncertainty passed to the downstream task. Motivated by the
above, we propose a generalized Bayesian record linkage method and consider
multiple regression analysis as the downstream task. Records are linked via a
random partition model, which allows for a wide class to be considered. In
addition, we jointly model the record linkage and downstream task, which allows
one to account for the record linkage uncertainty exactly. Moreover, one is
able to generate a feedback propagation mechanism of the information from the
proposed Bayesian record linkage model into the downstream task. This feedback
effect is essential to eliminate potential biases that can jeopardize resulting
downstream task. We apply our methodology to multiple linear regression, and
illustrate empirically that the "feedback effect" is able to improve the
performance of record linkage.Comment: 18 pages, 5 figure
GTI-space : the space of generalized topological indices
A new extension of the generalized topological indices (GTI) approach is carried out torepresent 'simple' and 'composite' topological indices (TIs) in an unified way. Thisapproach defines a GTI-space from which both simple and composite TIs represent particular subspaces. Accordingly, simple TIs such as Wiener, Balaban, Zagreb, Harary and Randićconnectivity indices are expressed by means of the same GTI representation introduced for composite TIs such as hyper-Wiener, molecular topological index (MTI), Gutman index andreverse MTI. Using GTI-space approach we easily identify mathematical relations between some composite and simple indices, such as the relationship between hyper-Wiener and Wiener index and the relation between MTI and first Zagreb index. The relation of the GTI space with the sub-structural cluster expansion of property/activity is also analysed and some routes for the applications of this approach to QSPR/QSAR are also given
Urban-rural comparison of adult day care centres in British Columbia
In 1979, Adult Day Care became a part of the B.C. Ministry of Health\u27s Continuing Care Program. By 1989, there were 49 centres in operation in the province and it was felt timely to undertake a comprehensive review of the Adult Day Care component of the Continuing Care Program. As part of that review and as an aid for future planning, the Simon Fraser University Gerontology Research Centre was commissioned to conduct a study that would provide information concerning: 1. activities and services provided by the 49 centres; 2. characteristics of the clients currently being served; 3. reasons clients are referred to Adult Day Care; 4. reasons some referred clients do not attend; and 5. the referral process and the interface between the Long Term Care Program and Adult Day Care

Previews the literature concerning the objectives, models of service delivery, operating characteristics, activities, services and clients of Adult Day Care (ADC) Centres. Presents findings from a 3-phase study conducted in British Columbia. In phase 1, a 100% sample of B.C. ADCs provided information on their operating characteristics, activities and services. In phase 2, the characteristics of 479 new admissions to 22 ADCs were determined. Phase 3 focused on reasons for referring clients to ADC, why some referred clients do not attend and on the interface between ADCs and the province\u27s Continuing Care Program
Indications of Universal Excess Fluctuations in Nonequilibrium Systems
The fluctuation in electric current in nonequilibrium steady states is
investigated by molecular dynamics simulation of macroscopically uniform
conductors. At low frequencies, appropriate decomposition of the spectral
intensity of current into thermal and excess fluctuations provides a simple
picture of excess fluctuations behaving as shot noise. This indicates that the
fluctuation-dissipation relation may be violated in a universal manner by the
appearance of shot noise for a wide range of systems with particle or momentum

Air quality investigations of the Sandia National Laboratories Sol se Mete Aerial Cable Facility
The air quality implications of the test and evaluation activities at the Sandia National Laboratories Sol se Mete Aerial Cable Facility are examined. All facets of the activity that affect air quality are considered. Air contaminants produced directly include exhaust products of rocket motors used to accelerate test articles, dust and gas from chemical explosives, and exhaust gases from electricity generators in the test arenas. Air contaminants produced indirectly include fugitive dust and exhaust contaminants from vehicles used to transport personnel and material to the test area, and effluents produced by equipment used to heat the project buildings. Both the ongoing program and the proposed changes in the program are considered. Using a reliable estimate of th maximum annual testing level, the quantities of contaminants released by project activities ar computed either from known characteristics of test items or from EPA-approved emission factors Atmospheric concentrations of air contaminants are predicted using EPA dispersion models. The predicted quantities and concentrations are evaluated in relation to Federal, New Mexico, an Bernalillo County air quality regulations and the human health and safety standards of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists
Modulation theory of quantum tunneling into a Calogero-Sutherland fluid
Quantum hydrodynamics of interacting electrons with a parabolic single
particle spectrum is studied using the Calogero-Sutherland model. The effective
action and modulation equations, describing evolution of periodic excitations
in the fluid, are derived. Applications to the problem of a single electron
tunneling into the FQHE edge state are discussed
