Dynamically broken Anti-de Sitter action for gravity
Due to a suitable Higgs mechanism, a standard Anti-de Sitter gauge theory
becomes spontaneously broken. The resulting Lorentz invariant gravitational
action includes the Hilbert-Einstein term of ordinary Einstein-Cartan gravity
with cosmological constant, plus contributions quadratic in curvature and
torsion, and a scalar Higgs sector.Comment: 7 Revtex pages, no figure
A Search for the Fourth SM Family Fermions and E_6 Quarks at Colliders
The potential of colliders to investigate the fourth SM
family fermions predicted by flavour democracy has been analyzed. It is shown
that muon colliders are advantageous for both pair production of fourth family
fermions and resonance production of fourth family quarkonia. Also isosinglet
quarks production at colliders has been investigated.Comment: 9 pages, 5 table

Down Type Isosinglet Quarks in ATLAS
We evaluate the discovery reach of the ATLAS experiment for down type
isosinglet quarks, , using both their neutral and charged decay channels,
namely the process with subsequent decays resulting in
, and final states.
The integrated luminosity required for observation of a heavy quark is
estimated for a mass range between 600 and 1000 GeV using the combination of
results from different search channels.Comment: 12 page
Elliptic Thermal Correlation Functions and Modular Forms in a Globally Conformal Invariant QFT
Global conformal invariance (GCI) of quantum field theory (QFT) in two and
higher space-time dimensions implies the Huygens' principle, and hence,
rationality of correlation functions of observable fields (see Commun. Math.
Phys. 218 (2001) 417-436; hep-th/0009004). The conformal Hamiltonian has
discrete spectrum assumed here to be finitely degenerate. We then prove that
thermal expectation values of field products on compactified Minkowski space
can be represented as finite linear combinations of basic (doubly periodic)
elliptic functions in the conformal time variables (of periods 1 and )
whose coefficients are, in general, formal power series in
involving spherical functions of the "space-like"
fields' arguments. As a corollary, if the resulting expansions converge to
meromorphic functions, then the finite temperature correlation functions are
elliptic. Thermal 2-point functions of free fields are computed and shown to
display these features. We also study modular transformation properties of
Gibbs energy mean values with respect to the (complex) inverse temperature
(). The results are used to obtain the
thermodynamic limit of thermal energy densities and correlation functions.Comment: LaTex. 56 pages. The concept of global conformal invariance set in a

Nonlinear QED and Physical Lorentz Invariance
The spontaneous breakdown of 4-dimensional Lorentz invariance in the
framework of QED with the nonlinear vector potential constraint
A_{\mu}^{2}=M^{2}(where M is a proposed scale of the Lorentz violation) is
shown to manifest itself only as some noncovariant gauge choice in the
otherwise gauge invariant (and Lorentz invariant) electromagnetic theory. All
the contributions to the photon-photon, photon-fermion and fermion-fermion
interactions violating the physical Lorentz invariance happen to be exactly
cancelled with each other in the manner observed by Nambu a long ago for the
simplest tree-order diagrams - the fact which we extend now to the one-loop
approximation and for both the time-like (M^{2}>0) and space-like (M^{2}<0)
Lorentz violation. The way how to reach the physical breaking of the Lorentz
invariance in the pure QED case taken in the flat Minkowskian space-time is
also discussed in some detail.Comment: 16 pages, 2 Postscript figures to be published in Phys. Rev.
Thermodynamic instabilities in one dimensional particle lattices: a finite-size scaling approach
One-dimensional thermodynamic instabilities are phase transitions not
prohibited by Landau's argument, because the energy of the domain wall (DW)
which separates the two phases is infinite. Whether they actually occur in a
given system of particles must be demonstrated on a case-by-case basis by
examining the (non-) analyticity properties of the corresponding transfer
integral (TI) equation. The present note deals with the generic Peyrard-Bishop
model of DNA denaturation. In the absence of exact statements about the
spectrum of the singular TI equation, I use Gauss-Hermite quadratures to
achieve a single-parameter-controlled approach to rounding effects; this allows
me to employ finite-size scaling concepts in order to demonstrate that a phase
transition occurs and to derive the critical exponents.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, subm. to Phys. Rev.
Model-Independent Searches for New Quarks at the LHC
New vector-like quarks can have sizable couplings to first generation quarks
without conflicting with current experimental constraints. The coupling with
valence quarks and unique kinematics make single production the optimal
discovery process. We perform a model-independent analysis of the discovery
reach at the Large Hadron Collider for new vector-like quarks considering
single production and subsequent decays via electroweak interactions. An early
LHC run with 7 TeV center of mass energy and 1 fb-1 of integrated luminosity
can probe heavy quark masses up to 1 TeV and can be competitive with the
Tevatron reach of 10 fb-1. The LHC with 14 TeV center of mass energy and 100
fb-1 of integrated luminosity can probe heavy quark masses up to 3.7 TeV for
order one couplings.Comment: 37 pages, 11 figures, 7 table
de Sitter symmetry of Neveu-Schwarz spinors
We study the relations between Dirac fields living on the 2-dimensional
Lorentzian cylinder and the ones living on the double-covering of the
2-dimensional de Sitter manifold, here identified as a certain coset space of
the group . We show that there is an extended notion of de Sitter
covariance only for Dirac fields having the Neveu-Schwarz anti-periodicity and
construct the relevant cocycle. Finally, we show that the de Sitter symmetry is
naturally inherited by the Neveu-Schwarz massless Dirac field on the cylinder.Comment: 24 page
Quaterionic Construction of the W(F_4) Polytopes with Their Dual Polytopes and Branching under the Subgroups B(B_4) and W(B_3)*W(A_1)
4-dimensional polytopes and their dual polytopes have been
constructed as the orbits of the Coxeter-Weyl group where the group
elements and the vertices of the polytopes are represented by quaternions.
Branchings of an arbitrary \textbf{} orbit under the Coxeter groups
and have been presented. The role of
group theoretical technique and the use of quaternions have been emphasizedComment: 26 pages, 10 figure
