Loan loss provisioning practices in Indian Banking System

    Get PDF
This paper has examined the India’s banking system, looking specifically at the structure, legislation and regulatory bodies that govern and dictate how the banking system is defined which is continuously exposed to Asian financial crises, Global Financial crises and Eurozone crises. This paper analyses the X- Efficiencies and further the loan loss provisioning practices during the period 2006-2012. The main finding include that Indian banks were affected by the crises and X-Efficiencies are not the significant part when it comes to loan loss provisioning. The study finds a significant relationship between net income and Loan Loss Provisions but finds no evidence of pro/countercyclical and capital management

INTERFERENCE REJECTION OF SIGNALS BY ADAPTIVE MINIMUM MEAN SQUARE ERROR CRITERION OVER RAYLEIGH FADING CHANNELS

Channel time-variation (or fading) is the major source of impairment in digital wireless communications. This occurs due to mobility of the user or of the objects in the propagation environment. The limited spectral bandwidth necessitates the use of resource sharing schemes between multiple users. As the transmission medium is shared between the users, this leads to interference between the users. Sharing of resource results in interference such as multiple access interference. This paper deals with methods to study and mitigate such interference considering Rayleigh fading channels. There are various classes of fading conditions. The use of CDMA is under active research as a viable alternative to TDMA and FDMA. Performance in this system is limited by narrowband and multiple access interference. Various methods are used to mitigate them. But here, linear MMSE detector is considered. MMSE technique results in interference rejection. Its adaptive form is applied to Rayleigh fading channels, which are reflective and nondispersive. It results into better results than before

On Generalised Danielewski and Asanuma varieties

In this paper we extend a result of Dubouloz on the Cancellation Problem in higher dimensions (⩾2\geqslant 2) over the field of complex numbers to fields of arbitrary characteristic. We then apply the generalised result to describe the Makar-Limanov and Derksen invariant of generalised Asanuma varieties under certain hypotheses. We also establish a necessary and sufficient condition for certain generalised Asanuma varieties to be isomorphic to polynomial rings.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2206.1521

Differences in self-reported weekend catch up sleep between children and adolescents with and without primary hypertension

Background: The data on the association of sleep duration and blood pressure in the pediatric age group have been mixed and most studies have focused on weekday sleep duration. The purpose of this study was to compare the weekday and weekend sleep patterns between children and adolescents with newly diagnosed primary hypertension and a normotensive control group. Methods: Children and adolescents from a pediatric nephrology clinic, aged 6-18 years with newly diagnosed primary hypertension were compared to an age and sex matched normotensive control group from a general pediatric clinic. The questions about bed time and getting out of bed times from the Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire (PSQ) were used to obtain weekday and weekend bed time, getting out of bed time and sleep duration. The Pediatric Daytime Sleepiness Scale (PDSS) was used to assess subjective sleepiness. Results: In both groups of 60 subjects each, weekday total sleep time was similar. Subjects in both groups went to bed later and woke up later on the weekends. However, in the hypertensive group, weekend getting out of the bed time was earlier (8:52 AM +/-93 min vs. 9:36 AM +/-88 min, p = 0.013) and weekend catchup sleep was about 40 min less (62.8 +/- 85.5 vs. 102.7 +/- 84.9, p = 0.035). Hypertensive children perceived less subjective sleepiness (PDSS scores 8.28 +/- 4.88 vs. 10.63 +/- 5.41, p = 0.007). The p values were calculated after adjusting for body mass index (BMI), race, daytime nap, caffeine use, sleep related breathing disorder (SRBD) scale and periodic limb movement of sleep (PLMS) scale subcomponents of the PSQ. Conclusions: Hypertensive children obtained less weekend catch up sleep and reported less subjective sleepiness compared to the control group. More weekend sleep may potentially mitigate the effect of weekday sleep deprivation on blood pressure

On the triviality of a family of linear hyperplanes

Let kk be a field, mm a positive integer, V\mathbb{V} an affine subvariety of Am+3\mathbb{A}^{m+3} defined by a linear relation of the form x1r1⋯xmrmy=F(x1,…,xm,z,t)x_{1}^{r_{1}}\cdots x_{m}^{r_{m}}y=F(x_{1}, \ldots , x_{m},z,t), AA the coordinate ring of V\mathbb{V} and G=X1r1⋯XmrmY−F(X1,…,Xm,Z,T)G= X_1^{r_1}\cdots X_m^{r_m}Y-F(X_1, \dots, X_m,Z,T). In \cite{com}, the second author had studied the case m=1m=1 and had obtained several necessary and sufficient conditions for V\mathbb{V} to be isomorphic to the affine 3-space and GG to be a coordinate in k[X1,Y,Z,T]k[X_1, Y,Z,T]. In this paper, we study the general higher-dimensional variety V\mathbb{V} for each m⩾1m \geqslant 1 and obtain analogous conditions for V\mathbb{V} to be isomorphic to Am+2\mathbb{A}^{m+2} and GG to be a coordinate in k[X1,…,Xm,Y,Z,T]k[X_1, \dots, X_m, Y,Z,T], under a certain hypothesis on FF. Our main theorem immediately yields a family of higher-dimensional linear hyperplanes for which the Abhyankar-Sathaye Conjecture holds. We also describe the isomorphism classes and automorphisms of integral domains of the type AA under certain conditions. These results show that for each d⩾3d \geqslant 3, there is a family of infinitely many pairwise non-isomorphic rings which are counterexamples to the Zariski Cancellation Problem for dimension dd in positive characteristic.Comment: Remark 3.15 has been adde
