Dynamically affine maps in positive characteristic
We study fixed points of iterates of dynamically affine maps (a
generalisation of Latt\`es maps) over algebraically closed fields of positive
characteristic . We present and study certain hypotheses that imply a
dichotomy for the Artin-Mazur zeta function of the dynamical system: it is
either rational or non-holonomic, depending on specific characteristics of the
map. We also study the algebraicity of the so-called tame zeta function, the
generating function for periodic points of order coprime to . We then verify
these hypotheses for dynamically affine maps on the projective line,
generalising previous work of Bridy, and, in arbitrary dimension, for maps on

Exclusive meson production at COMPASS
We explore the feasibility to study exclusive meson production (EMP) in hard
muon-proton scattering at the COMPASS experiment. These measurements constrain
the off-forward parton distributions (OFPD's) of the proton, which are related

Research note : lyophilization of hyperimmune egg yolk : effect on antibody titer and protection of broilers against Campylobacter colonization
Oral administration of antibodies is a promising strategy against various infectious diseases. Previously, it was demonstrated that passive immunization by providing hyperimmune egg yolk through the feed reduces Campylobacter jejuni colonization in broilers. Campylobacteriosis is the most commonly reported bacterial foodborne zoonosis worldwide, and poultry products are the number one origin of these bacteria for human infection. To date, no effective control measures exist to limit Campylobacter colonization in the chicken's intestinal tract. Here, the effect of lyophilization of hyperimmune egg yolk on protection of broilers against C. jejuni was investigated. During an in vivo trial, broiler chickens were prophylactically given feed with lyophilized hyperimmune or non-immunized egg yolk powder starting from day 1 after hatch. At day 11, broilers were inoculated with C. jejuni according to a seeder model. Five days later, all broilers were euthanized and cecal content was examined for C. jejuni colonization. No decrease in C. jejuni colonization was found. The freeze-drying resulted in a 16-fold decrease of the antibody titer in the yolk powder compared to the fresh yolks, presumably caused by structural changes in the antibodies. In conclusion, applying freeze-dried hyperimmune egg yolk failed to protect broilers against C. jejuni colonization, possibly because lyophilization affected the antibodies' functionality
Sovereign bond yield spreads and sustainability : an empirical analysis of OECD countries

We hypothesize that good ESG performance plays an economic role: It signals a country's commitment to sustainability and long-term orientation and is a buffer against negative shocks, leading to lower sovereign bond yield spreads. Using a sample of 20 OECD countries over the period 1996–2012, we show that countries with good ESG performance are associated with lower default risk and lower sovereign bond yield spreads. Moreover, we show that the social and governance dimensions have a significant negative association with sovereign bond yield spreads, whereas the environmental dimension does not.PostprintPeer reviewe

The objective of this report is to review the relevant theoretical and empirical literature to provide a conceptual and methodological background for the analysis of the consequences of ICT use and globalisation on the regional economies in the European Union. We highlight the key aspects of ICT as a general purpose technology, discuss the economic impacts of ICT diffusion from macro and micro perspectives, and examine the spatial consequences of ICT diffusion. An investigation for process capability in additive manufacturing
This work presents an investigation for process capability in additive manufacturing (AM). Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) is the additive manufacturing method, which is based for this verification. The typically layer-upon-layer building method in FFF has special effects to the geometrical quality and is important for comprehending the challenges in the additive manufacturing. But the continuously increasing of manufacturing quality in AM methods has enlarges the applying from rapid prototyping to rapid manufacturing or even to rapid tooling. The reliable applying of AM methods in these areas needs an evaluation and validation for process stability and is part of this paper. The mycotoxin deoxynivalenol predisposes for the development of Clostridium perfringens-induced necrotic enteritis in broiler chickens
Both mycotoxin contamination of feed and Clostridium perfringens-induced necrotic enteritis have an increasing global economic impact on poultry production. Especially the Fusarium mycotoxin deoxynivalenol (DON) is a common feed contaminant. This study aimed at examining the predisposing effect of DON on the development of necrotic enteritis in broiler chickens. An experimental Clostridium perfringens infection study revealed that DON, at a contamination level of 3,000 to 4,000 mg/kg feed, increased the percentage of birds with subclinical necrotic enteritis from 2062.6% to 4763.0% (P<0.001). DON significantly reduced the transepithelial electrical resistance in duodenal segments (P<0.001) and decreased duodenal villus height (P = 0.014) indicating intestinal barrier disruption and intestinal epithelial damage, respectively. This may lead to an increased permeability of the intestinal epithelium and decreased absorption of dietary proteins. Protein analysis of duodenal content indeed showed that DON contamination resulted in a significant increase in total protein concentration (P = 0.023). Furthermore, DON had no effect on in vitro growth, alpha toxin production and netB toxin transcription of Clostridium perfringens. In conclusion, feed contamination with DON at concentrations below the European maximum guidance level of 5,000 mg/kg feed, is a predisposing factor for the development of necrotic enteritis in broilers. These results are associated with a negative effect of DON on the intestinal barrier function and increased intestinal protein availability, which may stimulate growth and toxin production of Clostridium perfringens
