The Effects of Marketing Capabilities on Export Performance Using Resource-based View: Assessment on Manufacturing Companies

    Get PDF
AbstractFor the last years, under increasing intensive competitive conditions, manufacturing firms have been seeking ways to create advantages against their competitors that lead them to change their product-oriented strategy to adopt market-oriented strategy. Thus, it is important for those firms to define their activities better and to use their resources to increase their export performance. In this study, using resource-based view, important resources and marketing capabilities of manufacturing companies which play key roles in their export performance were examined. Then, in order to understand the effects of various defined resources and marketing capabilities on manufacturing firms’ export performance in depth, export activities of 14 Turkish manufacturing firms in different sectors were investigated using critical incident method

Schiff Bases and Their Metallic Derivatives: Highly Versatile Molecules with Biological and Abiological Perspective

    Get PDF
1998 onwards, a span reporting thousands of research articles describes the ever-increasing applicability of Schiff bases and their metallic complexes; this chapter comprehensively examines the literature of the last 20 years. The structural diversity of these molecules made them available for a very wide range of biological and abiological applications. Schiff bases are excellent chelators and due to this unique property have found their place in qualitative and quantitative determination of metals in aqueous media. The structural diversity of metal chelates proved these to be outstanding catalysts and displayed interesting fluorescence effect. Finally, Schiff base moieties have found a unique position during the in vitro and in vivo experiments for drug development against a huge number of biological entities including bacteria, fungi, cancer cells, viruses, parasites, etc

The Design and Cytotoxic Evaluation of Some 1-Aryl-3- isopropylamino-1-propanone Hydrochlorides towards Human Huh-7 Hepatoma Cells

Cataloged from PDF version of article.A series of 1-aryl-3-isopropylamino-1-propanone hydrochlorides 1 and a related heterocyclic analog 2 as candidate antineoplastic agents were prepared and the rationale for designing these compounds is presented. A specific objective in this study is the discovery of novel compounds possessing growth-inhibiting properties of hepatoma cells. The compounds in series 1 and 2 were prepared and their structures established unequivocally. X-ray crystallography of two representative compounds 1d and 1g were achieved. Over half of the compounds are more potent than 5-fluorouracil which is an established drug used in treating liver cancers. QSAR evaluations and molecular modeling studies were undertaken with a view to detecting some physicochemical parameters which govern cytotoxic potencies. A number of guidelines for amplification of the project have been formulated. A number of Mannich bases displayed greater potency than the reference drug 5-fluorouracil against human Huh-7 hepatoma cells. In particular, 1i emerged as a lead compound possessing 2.8 fold higher activity than that of the reference drug. Copyright © 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim

Exploring experiences and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on young racially minoritised people in the United Kingdom: A Qualitative Study

    Get PDF
Within high-income-countries, the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted people from racially minoritised backgrounds. There has been significant research interrogating the disparate impact of the virus, and recently, interest in the long-term implications of the global crisis on young people’s mental health and wellbeing. However, less work explores the experiences of young people from racialised backgrounds as they navigate the pandemic, and the specific consequences this has for their mental health. Forty young people (age 16-25) from black, mixed and other minority backgrounds and living in London, participated in consecutive focus group discussions over a two-month period, to explore the impact of the pandemic on their lives and emotional wellbeing. Thematic analysis identified seven categories describing the impact of the pandemic, indicating: deepening of existing socioeconomic and emotional challenges; efforts to navigate racism and difference within the response; and survival strategies drawing on communal and individual resources. Young people also articulated visions for a future public health response which addressed gaps in current strategies. Findings point to the need to contextualise public health responses to the pandemic in line with the lived experiences of racialised young people. We specifically note the importance of long-term culturally and socio-politically relevant support interventions. Implications for policy and practice are discusse

Septal perforators stemming from a very long left main coronary artery

We report a case of a very long left main coronary artery, 58mm,  with septal perforators before bifurcation. The coronary arteries were seen clear of plaques. To the best of our knowledge this case is a very rare case because of the existance of the first and the second septal perforator arteries originating from a very long left main coronary artery

Echinopla cherapunjiensis sp. n. (Hymenoptera, Formicidae) from India

Echinopla cherapunjiensis Bharti et Gul, sp. n. is described from India. This represents the second species of genus reported in India, with only Echinopla lineata senilis Mayr, 1862 described earlier from Nicobar Islands. The species distinctly differs from all other known species of this genus by the following combination of characters: globose shape of head, presence of seven teeth on petiolar scale, flat dorsum of mesosoma with promesonotal and mesometanotal sutures obsolete, whole body surface (dorsum) rough due to sinuous sculpture, deep excavations and spiky elevations on head and mesosoma and excavations on gaster.Echinopla cherapunjiensis Bharti et Gul, sp. n.

Temperature Dependent Viscosity of a Third Order Thin Film Fluid Layer on a Lubricating Vertical Belt

    Get PDF
This paper aims to study the influence of heat transfer on thin film flow of a reactive third order fluid with variable viscosity and slip boundary condition. The problem is formulated in the form of coupled nonlinear equations governing the flow together with appropriate boundary conditions. Approximate analytical solutions for velocity and temperature are obtained using Adomian Decomposition Method (ADM). Such solutions are also obtained by using Optimal Homotopy Asymptotic Method (OHAM) and are compared with ADM solutions. Both of these solutions are found identical as shown in graphs and tables. The graphical results for embedded flow parameters are also shown

Simultaneous determination of iron and copper using screen-printed carbon electrodes by adsorptive stripping voltammetry with o-phenanthroline.

The simultaneous voltammetric determination of iron and copper was accomplished by an unmodified screen-printed carbon electrode based on the complexation with o-phenanthroline assisted by the reducing agent ferrocyanide. The detection limits were 3.74 and 0.34 µg L−1 for iron and copper, respectively, and a linear response was observed from 12.5 to 400 µg L−1 for iron and from 1.14 to 400 µg L−1 for copper. This method successfully avoids interferences between iron and copper while allowing the simultaneous determination of both low and high metal concentrations usually found in the environment. Finally, a certified wastewater reference material was successfully analyzed, confirming the precision and accuracy of the proposed method
