Gearbox fault diagnosis under different operating conditions based on time synchronous average and ensemble empirical mode decomposition

    Get PDF
In this paper, a new method is proposed by combining ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) with order tracking techniques to analyse the vibration signals from a two stage helical gearbox. The method improves EEMD results in that it overcomes the potential deficiencies and achieves better order spectrum representation for fault diagnosis. Based on the analysis, a diagnostic feature is designed based on the order spectra of extracted IFMs for detection and separation of gearbox faults. Experimental results show this feature is sensitive to different fault severities and robust to the influences from operating conditions and remote sensor locations

Neutrino masses, leptogenesis and dark matter in hybrid seesaw

We suggest a hybrid seesaw model where relatively ``light''right-handed neutrinos give no contribution to the neutrino mass matrix due to a special symmetry. This allows their Yukawa couplings to the standard model particles to be relatively strong, so that the standard model Higgs boson can decay dominantly to a left and a right-handed neutrino, leaving another stable right-handed neutrino as cold dark matter. In our model neutrino masses arise via the type-II seesaw mechanism, the Higgs triplet scalars being also responsible for the generation of the matter-antimatter asymmetry via the leptogenesis mechanism.Comment: 4 page

Chemical dynamics of triacetylene formation and implications to the synthesis of polyynes in Titan's atmosphere

For the last four decades, the role of polyynes such as diacetylene (HCCCCH) and triacetylene (HCCCCCCH) in the chemical evolution of the atmosphere of Saturn's moon Titan has been a subject of vigorous research. These polyacetylenes are thought to serve as an UV radiation shield in planetary environments; thus, acting as prebiotic ozone, and are considered as important constituents of the visible haze layers on Titan. However, the underlying chemical processes that initiate the formation and control the growth of polyynes have been the least understood to date. Here, we present a combined experimental, theoretical, and modeling study on the synthesis of the polyyne triacetylene (HCCCCCCH) via the bimolecular gas phase reaction of the ethynyl radical (CCH) with diacetylene (HCCCCH). This elementary reaction is rapid, has no entrance barrier, and yields the triacetylene molecule via indirect scattering dynamics through complex formation in a single collision event. Photochemical models of Titan's atmosphere imply that triacetylene may serve as a building block to synthesize even more complex polyynes such as tetraacetylene (HCCCCCCCCH)

A Cosmological Model with Dark Spinor Source

In this paper, we discuss the system of Friedman-Robertson-Walker metric coupling with massive nonlinear dark spinors in detail, where the thermodynamic movement of spinors is also taken into account. The results show that, the nonlinear potential of the spinor field can provide a tiny negative pressure, which resists the Universe to become singular. The solution is oscillating in time and closed in space, which approximately takes the following form g_{\mu\nu}=\bar R^2(1-\delta\cos t)^2\diag(1,-1,-\sin^2r ,-\sin^2r \sin^2\theta), with Rˉ=(12)×1012\bar R= (1\sim 2)\times 10^{12} light year, and δ=0.960.99\delta=0.96\sim 0.99. The present time is about t18t\sim 18^\circ.Comment: 13 pages, no figure, to appear in IJMP

A study on four antioxidation effects of Lycium Barbarum polysaccharides In vitro

    Get PDF
The objective of the study was to investigate the in vitro antioxidation activity of lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBP). Ultraviolet spectrophotometry was adopted to determine the capability of LBP to clear superoxide anions, hydroxyl radicals, DPPH free radicals and ABTS free radicals. The result showed that the law for LBP to clear superoxide anions, hydroxyl radicals and DPPH free radicals was that the clearance rate increased gradually with the increase of the concentration, and when the concentration reached a certain value, the clearance rate leveled off, while the IC50 for clearing ABTS free radicals was 47.158±6.231ìg/ml. The study concluded that LBP is a good in vitro antioxidant. Keywords: LBP; superoxide anion; hydroxyl radical; DPPH; ABT
