Real-time forecast of MUF for radio paths from current data obtained from oblique sounding with continuous chirp signal

    Get PDF
We present a technique of MUF real-time forecast based on time extrapolation for maximum observed frequencies smoothed over a long-term forecast along a given path. We have validated the technique of fitting current data from the long-term forecast, using the OPEMI model, transmission curve method for short paths, and method of normal waves for long paths (over 2000 km). This technique has been tested using data obtained at the chirp sounding network of ISTP SB RAS during periods of strong and weak solar activity. The quality of the forecast has been found to significantly improve in comparison to the long-term forecast, with advance intervals of real-time forecast from 15 to 30 min. The sessions, in which the real-time forecast error is less than 10 % for 15-min advance interval, comprise from 67 to 96 % of all sessions depending on season and radio path orientation

Nowadays cyber-physical systems are widely used for many purposes. We consider the provision of information security of data channels in such systems. Cryptographic data security approach based on random sequences is commonly used to solve this task. Its reliability depends on quality of random data being used, thus truly random sequences are preferable for application. Truly random data generation is a time-consuming process and it requires entropy sources of physical nature. The goal of the paper presented is to research methods and approaches of collecting random numbers using inertial measurement unit as a part of cyber-physical system. Method. Quality assessment of a binary sequence was carried out during the research by determination of random sequence statistical characteristics.Main Results. Research results have shown up that raw data collected from onboard inertial sensors possess lack of entropy under non-disturbed conditions, therefore an additional post-processing is required. Practical Relevance. The results of the research can be used to obtain random sequences for on board cyber-physical systems equipped with inertial measurement units without the use of additional devices. It is planned to collect data from a flying unmanned aerial system in future to apply extractors and to utilize other methods in order to improve quality of a binary sequenc

Background & Aims. Flow cytometry is successfully used for diagnosis of malignant lymphoproliferative disorders. However, there are atypical cases that are difficult to interpret; thus, new markers relevant for the differential diagnosis are to be searched for. The aim is to analyze CD200 expression in patients with B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders. Materials & Methods. 187 patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), 14 patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), 9 patients with marginal zone lymphoma (MZL), and 5 patients with hairy cell leukemia (HCL) were enrolled in the study. Neoplasm was not confirmed in 12 subjects. The patients underwent the following tests: CBC, immunophenotyping of peripheral blood or bone marrow lymphocytes, and a cytogenetic test. In some cases, an additional immunohistochemical test of bone marrow trepanobiopsy or lymph node biopsy samples was required. Results. In all cases of CLL and HCL, the CD200 expression was positive; mean fluorescence intensity was higher in these cases as compared to other groups. Negative expression of CD200 prevailed in MCL patients; however, at the same time 2 cases of intermediate and positive expression were reported, both showing moderate fluorescence intensity values. CD200 expression was heterogeneous in MZL patients. Conclusion. The CD200 negative expression excludes typical HCL and CLL. Additional cytogenetic and immunnohistoсhemical tests should be performed in such cases to verify the diagnosis, first of all, MCL or MZL

The article analyzes the parameters of various configurations concentrated windings for application in high-power geared and direct drive wind generators. It is specified that the concentrated windings advantages over distributed ones can be fully realized by choosing the right values of pole pairs and the slots number. It is shown that the choice of the winding should take into account not only the highest winding factor, but also to the star of slots for the analysis of the harmonic contents of the magnetomotive force (MMF) and electromotive force (EMF), cogging torque and load torque pulsation. Windings with performance conditions Z=12+6k, 2p=Z ±2, k=0,1,2,3,…having an odd number of pole pairs are recommended for high-power wind generators

VERNAM CIPHER BASED METHOD OF PROTECTION FOR DATA TRANSFERRED BETWEEN UNMANNED AIRCRAFT AND GROUND CONTROL STATION

    No full text
The paper deals with questions of protection against unauthorized access to the data transmitted between unmanned aircraft vehicle (UAV) and ground control station (GCS). This is due to the fact that standard instruments of network security sometimes provide security of not enough proper level or do not satisfy the restrictions connected with the features of UAV: limited computing resources of the UAV on-board computer and real-time operation. We have offered to use Vernam cipher (one-time pad) as an additional measure for data protection. Vernam algorithm combines such advantages as theoretically proved absolute cryptographic security, ease of implementation, high speed of encryption and low processor load. It is especially important for large volumes of data encryption (e.g. video information). Within the bounds of experimental researches the technique is used based on cryptographic gamma of block cipher GOST 28147-89 in the Cipher Feedback Mode for a one-time pad generation. Application of Vernam cipher means the deletion of used one-time pad pages. The replacement of used one-time pad pages by cipher text is proposed for assurance of the above-named requirement and for simultaneous computer memory saving. It gives additionally the opportunity not only to save key sequences but also to accumulate encrypted data in the on-board computer memory. Realization of the offered method allows increasing the data protection level without engaging large computing power and memory capacity

The paper provides a method of secure data transmitted and received data onboard 1he unmanned aircraft vehicle. An encryption method based on one-time pads (the Vemam cipher) is presented. The method uses such advantages of the Vemam cipher as theoretically proven absolute cryptographic security, high encryption speed and implementation simplicity. It allows the memory allocated for one-time pad to be used not only as a storage for key sequences but also as a place for storing the encrypted data

The clue function of thyroid follicular cells is iodide (I) uptake and thyroid hormones production. NIS mediates the active transport of I into the thyroid follicular cells. It is impossible to perform effective 131I radioablation (131I RA) up to 10% of all differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) owing to dedifferentiation and lost ability to cumulate I. To distinguish this group of patient preoperatively is difficult. Aim. To assess the utility of using membrane located NIS detection as marker of unfavorable prognosis for DTC after 131I RA. Materials and methods. We enrolled in our study retrospectively sixty patients with DTC operated from 2005 to 2008. Based on postop routine histology examination we performed TNM staging. Forty-five patients received 131I RA postoperatively. During 60 month of follow up recurrence were detected in 20 cases. In all 60 patients' level of membrane located NIS expression were detected immunohistochemicaly (IHC) in primary thyroid tumor. All statistical analysis performed using PC program Statistica 7.0. Results. We found that mean level of membrane located NIS expression in DTC is 4.5%, with maximum up to 10%, whereas mean level of NIS expression in normal tissue is 30—40%. Least mean level of NIS expression was in patients group with recurrence of DTC after 131I RA (p=0.00083). We proved that crutial for recurrence of DTC after 131I RA were decreased level of membrane located NIS expression less than 1%. As well as we found statistically significant correlation between Recurrence Free Survival (RFS) and level of NIS expression (p 0.005). Conclusion. Membrane location of NIS determines its functional activity, and membrane located NIS amount decreases in DTC. Detection of membrane located NIS in DTC has prognostic value
