The first part of the présent study examines the manner in which, within the context of Biblical révélation, an ethic took form and received its ultimate specificity in the Gospel. In the Old Testament, this development led to the substitution of the pagan sacrality of the cosmic, sexual and political realities by the demands ofa holy God addressed to man. Différent stages may be recognized in this évolution : the Torah, the prophets and sages of Israël ; the teaching and conduct of Jésus ; the apostolic Church anima ted by the Spirit. In a second section, the problems posed by the proclamation of this Gospel ethic in a secularized world are presented. The Biblical experience serves as a mode/ both for the confrontation - and indeed contradiction - between the Word of God and the sinful world and for the dialogue between them in search ofa new ethic concerning world conquest, sexuality, political life and human respect.Grelot Pierre.
