El Papel Del Lector en La Novela Mexicana Contemporanea: Jose Emilio Pacheco Y Salvador Elizondo. [Spanish Text]
342 p.Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1987.This dissertation applies Reader-Oriented Criticism to the works of two contemporary Mexican authors: Jose Emilio Pacheco and Salvador Elizondo. Both writers belong to the literary movement known as 'La escritura', which can best be described as a reaction to traditional modes of writing and reading in Spanish-American Literature. The first chapter attempts to provide a panoramic view of the evolution of our literature from the point of view of the role of the reader. Chapter two is devoted to a brief summary of the six critical approaches that have shown interest in evaluating the role of the reader and the reading process. Chapters three and four examine in detail the first three novels of these writers; although there are also comments on posterior works. Finally, chapter five summarizes the main ideas presented in the previous discussion.U of I OnlyRestricted to the U of I community idenfinitely during batch ingest of legacy ETD
