Letter from Gowin to Langer regarding drunks in the area, 1918
Letter dated April 1, 1917 from Kersey Gowin to Attorney General William Langer. Gowin reports that he has just seen O. B., who is feeling fine and says to go all the way down the line. According to Gowin, O. B. was previously inclined to go Slow, but on March 29 our Boys were going to the camps and about a dozen of them got pretty drunk...Mr. Henrickstad says we will now go to them and clean them up again. Gowin asks that, if possible, D. V. B. can be present on the wind-up and adds that he is sending a letter he has received from a Mr. Elllins, so that Langer can see where I am at on that account.

Letter from Gowin to Langer about Donations to Beat the League , 1918
Letter dated April 13th, 1918 from Kersey Gowin to Attorney General William Langer updating Langer on the situation in Minot. Langer tells of plans being made by Smith and the PM for a keg party, and warns that E. H. Stenvick has a scheme to get a democrat into Dan\u27 place and one they can trust, I am told. He elaborates that the Democrats and Republicans are working to beat the League men this fall and gives information on donations locals have been making in order to beat the League .

Letter dated April 15th, 1918 from Kersey Gowin to Attorney General William Langer regarding a man by the name of Snow who did some work for Gowin on the recommendation of Dan (likely Assistent Attorney General Daniel V. Brennan, who had recently died), who hadn\u27t been paid because Dan is no longer here.

Letter from Gowin to Langer Regarding Bootlegging and Prostitution in Minot, 1917
Letter dated October 29, 1917, from Kersey Gowin to Attorney General William Langer regarding Gowin\u27s initial findings upon being stationed in Minot. Gowin provides many names, locations and details related to ongoing alcohol shipments and sales and prostitution, describes the situation as dangerous and that he believes there are several there who would kill anyone who told. He reports that the chief of police is a nightly drinker in one of the places, and requests that two men and one woman be assigned to work undercover, as he is a known person there.

Letter dated April 17th, 1918 from Kersey Gowin to Attorney General William Langer about evidence found on beer acquired from bootleggers that appears to be labeled as Great Northern dining service. He says part of the label has been torn off, but is a nough to show where it come from.

Letter dated April 16, 1918 from Kersey Gowin to Attorney General William Langer informing Langer of rising prices for bootlegged alcohol and asking him to contact J. A. Coffee at the Internal Revenue Collector office in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Gowin hopes that Coffer will work with Langer and him, providing them with a list of Minot residents who have applied for a government license.

Letter from Gowin to Langer Regarding Alcohol Shipment from Montana to Minot, 1917
Letter dated September 3, 1917 from Kersey Gowin to Attorney General William Langer about a shipment of alcohol to arrive in Minot from Montana. Gowin has become acquainted with a local and asked for 200 to 400 quarts of alcohol, and is informed about 500 pints that were taken to Dad-Marsh\u27s Place. The local also mentions a dam squeaker who, if caught, will be lucky to get out of town alive.

Letter from Gowin to Langer regarding hiring Girl to Work, Inside, Translator, 1917
Letter dated October 30, 1917 from Kersey E. Gowin to Attorney General William Langer. Gowin reports on his efforts to recruit: 1. an unnamed woman who Gowin feels is his best chance to get on the inside ; and 2. a frenchman plasterer named Chas Fisher who speaks multiple languages and is also an outsider. Gowin also provides an update on several individuals who are bootlegging.
