A double label: learning disabilities and emotional problems among gifted children
Many gifted children are "double labeled", namely in addition of being gifted they are also learning disabled and/or suffer from emotional, social or behavioral problems. This article will present the difficulties gifted children with a double label have to deal with, especially the difficulties in the educational system. Because of the double label the educational team faces a double challenge, in most cases without being equipped with the required knowledge or the support they need. This article will describe three case studies; techniques for intervention with such children and their families will be suggested

We took into consideration the special requirements of grid performance analysis when elaborated Mercury, a grid monitoring infrastructure. GRM, a performance monitor for parallel applications, has been integrated with R-GMA, a relational grid information system and Mercury as well. We developed Pulse and Prove visualisation tools for supporting grid performance analysis. We wrote a comprehensive state-of-the art survey of grid performance tools. We designed a novel abstraction layer of P-GRADE supporting workflows, and a grid portal. Users can draft and execute workflow applications in the grid via a web browser using the portal. The portal supports multiple grid implementations and provides monitoring capabilities for performance analysis. We tested the integration of the portal with grid resource brokers and also augmented it with some degree of fault-tolerance. Optimization may require the migration of parts of the application to different resources and thus, it requires support for checkpointing. We enhanced the checkpointing facilities of P-GRADE and coupled it to Condor job scheduler. We also extended the system with a load balancer module that is able to migrate processes as part of the optimization
Monitoring message-passing parallel applications in the grid with GRM and Mercury monitor
Abstract. Application monitoring in the grid for parallel applications is hardly supported in recent grid infrastructures. There is a need to visualize the behavior of the program during its execution and to analyze its performance. In this paper the GRM application monitoring tool, the Mercury resource and job monitoring infrastructure and the combination of the two as a grid monitoring tool-set for message-passing parallel applications is described. By using them, one can see and analyze on-line the behavior and performance of the application. 1 Application monitoring in the grid There are several parallel applications that are used on a single cluster or a supercomputer. As users get access to an actual grid they would like to execute their parallel applications on the grid instead of the local computing resource for several reasons. Local resources are always limited in size and availability. They might not be capable of executing an application with a given size of input data so the user should look for a larger resource. Another limitation is that the local resource is likely to be occupied by other users for days or weeks and we may need to run our application today
