    The impact of awareness program on the knowledge and practice of women about pelvic organ prolapse

    Background: Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is one of the most common gynecological health problems among women which affect on maternal morbidity and mortality. Prolapse may seriously influence the physical, psychological and social wellbeing of woman. Recently the health care giver focuses on prevention of prolapse rather than cure. The aim of this study was evaluating and improving the knowledge and practice of women, about POP. Subjects and Methods: A convenient sample of 110 women at reproductive age attending the obstetric clinic of Beni-Suef University hospital. The knowledge of women about POP was first assessed by using interview questionnaire and pretest. The awareness program included 2 sessions. They focused on improving the awareness of the women about the POP. Later, all women were assessed again over their knowledge and practice about the eight aspects using the same posttest. Results: Baseline assessment showed that only (4.5%) women had fair knowledge about POP. Educated women, working women, and those residing urban areas had better knowledge (p<0.05). After the awareness program, the knowledge of the women improved to (96.4%) with good knowledge (p<0.001). Conclusion: The educational program had a positive impact on the knowledge and practice of women about POP. Recommendation: Regulation development of medical services especially at rural areas for early detection and diagnosis of pelvic organ prolapse.     Effect of Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercise Training Protocol For Pregnant Woman during 3rd Trimester on Labor Duration

    Background: Pelvic floor muscles training during pregnancy can produce strong and well controlled muscles that will facilitate labor progress and outcomes. The aim of this quasi-experimental non equivalent control study was to assess the effect of pelvic floor muscle exercise training protocol for pregnant woman during 3rd trimester on labor duration. Sample: A total of 100 pregnant women in 3rd trimester were recruited for this study. Research design: A convenience sample was used & divided into two groups (study & control groups) 50 each; the study group who received pelvic floor muscle training exercise and control group who received standard routine care at El-Manial University Hospital, Cairo University, Egypt. Each group was assigned randomly to the line of management. Tools: Structured interviewing tool, pelvic floor muscles strength assessment, antenatal follow up checklist, partograph. Results: a statistically significantly difference between the study and control groups in relation to duration of 1st, 2nd and 3rd stage of labor. Conclusion: pelvic floor muscle training exercise can be useful to decrease duration of labor. Recommendation: Pelvic floor muscle training exercise should be an essential part of prenatal care.     Background: Coverage and quality of postnatal care for women and newborns tend to be relatively poor especially with COVID-19 outbreaks and length of stay in the health facility has shortened resulting in limited knowledge and skills of the postnatal homecare as well as family planning seeking care. With the development of communication technology, the maternity nurse becomes able to provide postpartum health teaching for enriching women with information to be able to deal with postpartum minor health alignments and timely family planning seeking care, also minimize the risk of infection caused by face-to-face follow up. Aim: The current study aimed to assess the impact of mobile communication on post-partum minor health alignments’ recovery and family planning seeking care among primiparous. Design: A quasi- experimental (Intervention /Control)) research design was used.
