Systems effectiveness evaluation program
Eight integrated computer programs provide needed capability to reduce man-hours needed to perform routine monitoring and assessment of effectiveness, reliability, and maintainability of large electronic equipment systems
Dual-mode operation of a neutron source, a concept
Pulsed neutron source operates in conjunction with a photomultiplier tube coupled to a gamma ray scintillation crystal. This allows measurements of gamma radiation from both inelastic scattering and thermal neutron capture in a single experiment

Immediate placement and loading of dental implants into infected sites with and without antibiotic prophylaxis: an exploratory study
The objective of this prospective clinical trial was to evaluate the influence of pre- and post-operative antibiotic therapy on the survival rate of implants immediately placed and loaded into sites with infection. Fifteen subjects were enrolled in the study. All subjects underwent extraction of an infected tooth. All but two received an implant, abutment, and provisional crown at the same visit. Follow-up visits at week 1, 4, and months 6 and 12 were completed. Of the thirteen implants placed, two failed to integrate. Of the two failed implants, one subject received antibiotic, whereas the other received placebo. Within the limitations of this study, it appears that pre- and post-operative antibiotic use does not have a beneficial effect on the outcome of implants placed into sites with periradicular infection. Additionally, implants placed into sites with infection have comparable success rates to implants placed in sites without infectio
The benefits of improved technologies in agricultural aviation
The results are present for a study of the economic benefits attributed to a variety of potential technological improvements in agricultural aviation. Part 1 gives a general description of the ag-air industry and discusses the information used in the data base to estimate the potential benefits from technological improvements. Part 2 presents the benefit estimates and provides a quantitative basis for the estimates in each area study. Part 3 is a bibliography of references relating to this study
Gaugino Anomaly Mediated SUSY Breaking: phenomenology and prospects for the LHC
We examine the supersymmetry phenomenology of a novel scenario of
supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking which we call Gaugino Anomaly Mediation, or
inoAMSB. This is suggested by recent work on the phenomenology of flux
compactified type IIB string theory. The essential features of this scenario
are that the gaugino masses are of the anomaly-mediated SUSY breaking (AMSB)
form, while scalar and trilinear soft SUSY breaking terms are highly
suppressed. Renormalization group effects yield an allowable sparticle mass
spectrum, while at the same time avoiding charged LSPs; the latter are common
in models with negligible soft scalar masses, such as no-scale or gaugino
mediation models. Since scalar and trilinear soft terms are highly suppressed,
the SUSY induced flavor and CP-violating processes are also suppressed. The
lightest SUSY particle is the neutral wino, while the heaviest is the gluino.
In this model, there should be a strong multi-jet +etmiss signal from squark
pair production at the LHC. We find a 100 fb^{-1} reach of LHC out to
m_{3/2}\sim 118 TeV, corresponding to a gluino mass of \sim 2.6 TeV. A double
mass edge from the opposite-sign/same flavor dilepton invariant mass
distribution should be visible at LHC; this, along with the presence of short--
but visible-- highly ionizing tracks from quasi-stable charginos, should
provide a smoking gun signature for inoAMSB.Comment: 30 pages including 14 .eps figure
Left sided inferior vena cava duplication and venous thromboembolism: case report and review of literature
The etiology of venous thromboembolism in young patients is frequently associated with hereditary coagulation abnormalities, immunologic diseases, and neoplasia. The advent of radiological advances, namely Computed Tomography (CT) scans and venography has identified vena cava malformations as a new etiologic factor worthy of consideration. In this case report, we describe the unusual occurrence of venous thromboembolism in association with a duplicated inferior vena cava. Duplications of the inferior vena cava (IVC) are seen with an incidence of 0.2% to 3.0% in the general population. Embryogenesis of the IVC is a complex process involving the intricate formation and regression of numerous anastomoses, potentially leading to various anomalies. We present a 23-year-old Caucasian woman with IVC duplication who developed a deep venous thrombosis and multiple pulmonary emboli. Anomaly of the IVC is a rare example of a congenital condition that predisposes to thromboembolism, presumably by favoring venous stasis. This diagnosis should be considered in patients under the age of 30 with spontaneous occurrence of blood clots
Testing the gaugino AMSB model at the Tevatron via slepton pair production
Gaugino AMSB models-- wherein scalar and trilinear soft SUSY breaking terms
are suppressed at the GUT scale while gaugino masses adopt the AMSB form--
yield a characteristic SUSY particle mass spectrum with light sleptons along
with a nearly degenerate wino-like lightest neutralino and quasi-stable
chargino. The left- sleptons and sneutrinos can be pair produced at
sufficiently high rates to yield observable signals at the Fermilab Tevatron.
We calculate the rate for isolated single and dilepton plus missing energy
signals, along with the presence of one or two highly ionizing chargino tracks.
We find that Tevatron experiments should be able to probe gravitino masses into
the ~55 TeV range for inoAMSB models, which corresponds to a reach in gluino
mass of over 1100 GeV.Comment: 14 pages including 6 .eps figure

Dairy consumption and cardiometabolic diseases: systematic review and updated meta-analyses of prospective cohort studies
Purpose of Review Dairy products contain both beneficial and harmful nutrients in relation to cardiometabolic diseases. Here, we
provide the latest scientific evidence regarding the relationship between dairy products and cardiometabolic diseases by
reviewing the literature and updating meta-analyses of observational studies.
Recent Findings We updated our previous meta-analyses of cohort studies on type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease (CHD), and
stroke with nine studies and confirmed previous results. Total dairy and low-fat dairy (per 200 g/d) were inversely associated with
a 3–4% lower risk of diabetes. Yogurt was non-linearly inversely associatedwith diabetes (RR = 0.86, 95%CI: 0.83–0.90 at 80 g/
d). Total dairy and milk were not associated with CHD (RR~1.0). An increment of 200 g of daily milk intake was associated with
an 8% lower risk of stroke.
Summary The latest scientific evidence confirmed neutral or beneficial associations between dairy products and risk of cardiometabolic
diseases
