    Highly luminescent perovskite–aluminum oxide composites

    Get PDF
In this communication we report on the preparation of CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskite/Al2O3 nanoparticle composites in a thin film configuration and demonstrate their high photoluminescence quantum yield. The composite material is solution-processed at low temperature, using stable alumina nanoparticle dispersions. There is a large influence of the alumina nanoparticle concentration on the perovskite morphology and on its photoluminescence

Precision Predictions at N3^3LO for the Higgs Boson Rapidity Distribution at the LHC

We present precise predictions for the Higgs boson rapidity distribution at the LHC in the gluon fusion production mode. Our approach relies on the fully analytic computation of six terms in a systematic expansion of the partonic differential cross section around the production threshold of the Higgs boson at next-to-next-to-next-to leading order (N3^3LO) in QCD perturbation theory. We observe a mild correction compared to the previous perturbative order and a significant reduction of the dependence of the cross section on the perturbative scale throughout the entire rapidity range.Comment: 6 pages, 3 awesome figure

Sine-Gordon soliton as a model for Hawking radiation of moving black holes and quantum soliton evaporation

The intriguing connection between black holes' evaporation and physics of solitons is opening novel roads to finding observable phenomena. It is known from the inverse scattering transform that velocity is a fundamental parameter in solitons theory. Taking this into account, the study of Haw\-king radiation by a moving soliton gets a growing relevance. However, a theoretical context for the description of this phenomenon is still lacking. Here, we adopt a soliton geometrization technique to study the quantum emission of a moving soliton in a one-dimensional model. Representing a black hole by the one soliton solution of the sine-Gordon equation, we consider Haw\-king emission spectra of a quantized massless scalar field on the soliton-induced metric. We study the relation between the soliton velocity and the black hole temperature. Our results address a new scenario in the detection of new physics in the quantum gravity panorama.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure

Sperm glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase gene expression in asthenozoospermic spermatozoa

It has been suggested that the energy required for sperm motility is produced by oxidative phosphorylation while glycolysis seems to be an important source for ATP transmission along the flagellum. Some studies have investigated the chemical and kinetic properties of the enzyme glyceraldehyde 3‐phosphate dehydrogenase to identify any changes in the regulation of glycolysis and sperm motility. In contrast, there are few studies analyzing the genetic basis of hypokinesis. For this reason, we investigated the glyceraldehyde 3‐phosphate dehydrogenase gene in human sperm to evaluate whether asthenozoospermia was correlated with any changes in its expression. Semen examination and glyceraldehyde 3‐phosphate dehydrogenase gene expression studies were carried out on 116 semen samples divided into two groups – Group A consisted of 58 normokinetic samples and Group B of 58 hypokinetic samples. Total RNA was extracted from spermatozoa, and real‐time PCR quantification of mRNA was carried out using specific primers and probes. The expression profiles for the Groups A and B were very similar. The mean delta Ct was as follows – Group A, 5.79 ± 1.04; Group B, 5.47 ± 1.27. Our study shows that in human sperm, there is no difference in glyceraldehyde 3‐phosphate dehydrogenase gene expression between samples with impaired motility and samples with normal kinetics. We believe that this study could help in the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of sperm kinetics, suggesting that hypomotility may be due to a possible posttranscriptional impairment of the control mechanism, such as mRNA splicing, or to posttranslational changes

Efficient Thermal Conductance in Organometallic Perovskite CH3NH3PbI3 Films

Perovskite-based optoelectronic devices have shown great promise for solar conversion and other optoelectronic applications, but their long-term performance instability is regarded as a major obstacle to their widespread deployment. Previous works have shown that the ultralow thermal conductivity and inefficient heat spreading might put an intrinsic limit on the lifetime of perovskite devices. Here, we report the observation of a remarkably efficient thermal conductance, with conductivity of 11.2 +/- 0.8 W m^-1 K^-1 at room temperature, in densely-packed perovskite CH3NH3PbI3 films, via noncontact time-domain thermal reflectance measurements. The temperature-dependent experiments suggest the important roles of organic cations and structural phase transitions, which are further confirmed by temperature-dependent Raman spectra. The thermal conductivity at room temperature observed here is over one order of magnitude larger than that in the early report, suggesting that perovskite device performance will not be limited by thermal stability

Lepton-Quark Collisions at the Large Hadron Collider

Processes commonly studied at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are induced by quarks and gluons inside the protons of the LHC beams. In this Letter, we demonstrate that, since protons also contain leptons, it is possible to target lepton-induced processes at the LHC as well. In particular, by picking a lepton from one beam and a quark from the other beam, we present for the first time a comprehensive analysis of resonant single leptoquark (LQ) production at a hadron collider. In the case of minimal scalar LQs, we derive novel bounds that arise from the LHC Run II considering all possible flavor combinations of an electron or a muon and an up (u), a down (d), a strange, or a charm quark. For the flavor combinations with a u or a d quark, the obtained limits represent the most stringent constraints to date on LQs of this type. The prospects of our method at future LHC runs are also explored. Given the discovery reach of the proposed LQ signature, we argue that dedicated resonance searches in final states featuring a single light lepton and a single light-flavor jet should be added to the exotics search canon of both the ATLAS and the CMS Collaborations

Urbanization is the process of population growth in urban areas. Urban out growth is a contiguous part of urban area such as statutory towns or census towns. Those towns are express as a local service center. Berhampore Municipality is an oldest municipality in Murshidabad district. Within a decade numbers of census towns are increased from 3 to 9 around Berhampore municipality. Through this paper we are trying to show the delimitation of urban growth with three indicators and identify the transformation of urban city center from concentric zone to multiple nuclei zone. After analysis of whole things with the help of quantitative statistic it is identified that – star like linear expansion of town along with N.H.34 and S.H.11 road due to their functionalityL’urbanizzazione è il processo di crescita della popolazione nelle aree urbane.
