Reproductive biology of "Helianthemum apennium" (L.) Mill. and "H. caput-felis" Boiss. (Cistaceae) from Mallorca (Balearic Island, Spain)
This work describes and characterizes the conceptions and beliefs on mathematics teaching and learning sustained by Andalucian secondary teachers'. It is an exploratory study. Survey technique is used by means of a closed multiple-choice scale questionnaire applied to a sample of the studied population (N = 163). The design and production of the closed multiple-choice scale questionnaire are based on the empirical identification of teachers' opinions, the inductive generation of a theoretically founded system of categories useful to classify such opinions and the process control done by experts. A descriptive study of teachers' valuations establishes the level of acceptance for each category. The factor analysis of the data let us detect a general factor that establishes the global conception sustained by the teachers on this topic. The general factor is structured by means of 16 partial factors, which show several teachers' beliefs
The main objective of this paper is to review the psychological effects of the risk reduction surgery (mastectomy and ooforectomy) in BRCA carriers. This option reduce the risk to develop breast and ovarian cancer in BRCA carriers, but we don?t know if these two therapeutic approaches can increase the survival in this risk women group. We need news prospectives studies to clarify the efficacy of this prophylactic surgery
Assessing the relevance of higher education courses
The establishment of the European Higher Education Area has involved specifying lists of professional competencies that programs are expected to develop, and with this the need for procedures to measure how every course within a higher education program is aligned with the program’s competencies. We propose an instrument for characterizing this alignment, a process that we call assessing the relevance of a course. Using information from the course syllabus (objectives, contents and assessment scheme), our instrument produces indicators for characterizing the syllabus in terms of a competence list and for assessing its coherence. Because assessment involves quality, the results obtained can also be used to revise and improve the course syllabus. We illustrate this process with an example of a methods course from a mathematics teacher education program at a Spanish university
Fast Linear Algorithm for Active Rules Application in Transition P Systems
Transition P systems are computational models based on basic features of biological membranes and
the observation of biochemical processes. In these models, membrane contains objects multisets, which evolve
according to given evolution rules. In the field of Transition P systems implementation, it has been detected the
necessity to determine whichever time are going to take active evolution rules application in membranes. In
addition, to have time estimations of rules application makes possible to take important decisions related to the
hardware / software architectures design.
In this paper we propose a new evolution rules application algorithm oriented towards the implementation of
Transition P systems. The developed algorithm is sequential and, it has a linear order complexity in the number of
evolution rules. Moreover, it obtains the smaller execution times, compared with the preceding algorithms.
Therefore the algorithm is very appropriate for the implementation of Transition P systems in sequential devices
Profitability of private equity: mean reversion and transitory shocks.
This paper deals with the analysis of the statistical properties of the profitability yielded by Private Equity from a fractionally integrated viewpoint. Using quarterly data from 1981q2 to 2021q3, the results support the hypothesis of stationarity and mean reversion in all cases; however, we observe differences in the degree of persistence across regions, Europe being the closest to short memory while the US shows the highest degree of long range dependence and thus the longer lasting effects of shocks. Some policy recommendations of the results obtained are included at the end of the manuscript.post-print997 K
Saul Steinberg. Palabras sobre el pensamiento dibujado
[EN] Today seems like a good day to write, and show in this article, some of the research that has been done, over many years, on the drawings of Saul Steinberg, and which we would like to share with you our attempt to understand and naively master the thoughts of Saul Steinberg, without being able to do so (Figs. 1 and 2).Steinberg’s sharp eye will always infiltrate the lines and colours with which a cartoonist tries to capture life. Delimited Massively Parallel Algorithm Based on Rules Elimination for Application of Active Rules in Transition P Systems
In the field of Transition P systems implementation, it has been determined that it is very important to
determine in advance how long takes evolution rules application in membranes. Moreover, to have time
estimations of rules application in membranes makes possible to take important decisions related to hardware /
software architectures design.
The work presented here introduces an algorithm for applying active evolution rules in Transition P systems,
which is based on active rules elimination. The algorithm complies the requisites of being nondeterministic,
massively parallel, and what is more important, it is time delimited because it is only dependant on the number of
membrane evolution rules
