On T-duality of R 2-corrections to DBI action at all orders of gauge field

Recently, it has been observed that in a T-duality invariant world-volume theory in flat spacetime, all orders of gauge field strength and all orders of the D-brane velocity appear in two specific matrices. Using these two matrices, we construct the world-volume couplings of two massless NSNS states at order α′2\alpha'^2 and all orders of the velocity and the gauge field strength, by requiring them to be invariant under the linear T-duality. The standard extension F→F+P[B]F\rightarrow F+P[B], then produces all orders of the pull-back of B-field into the action. We compare the resulting couplings for zero velocity and gauge field strength, with the α′2\alpha'^2 terms of the disk-level S-matrix element of two massless NSNS vertex operators in the presence of a constant background B-field. We have found an exact agreement.Comment: 13 page

The effective action for the low energy scattering of two gravitons with a D-brane in the presence of a constant antisytmetric BB field in bosonic string theory is calculated and the modification to the standard D-brane action to first order in α′\alpha' is obtained.Comment: 18 pages, Latex file, accepted in Int. Covariant Poisson's equation in torsional Newton-Cartan gravity

We derive the covariant Poisson's equation of (d+1)-dimensional Newton-Cartan gravity with (twistless) torsion by applying the `non-relativistic conformal method' introduced in arXiv:1512.06277. We apply this method on-shell to a Schr\"odinger field theory on the curved Newton-Hooke background. The covariance of the field equation in the presence of the non-relativistic cosmological constant, entails fixing all coefficients in the covariant Poisson's equation for (twistless) torsional Newton-Cartan gravity. We further derive Ehlers conditions and an equation associated to the torsion in this method.Comment: 20 pages, v2 references adde

On thermodynamics of N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons theories at strong coupling

Recently it has been conjectured that N=6, U(N)_{k} \times U(N)_{-k} Chern-Simons theory is dual to M-theory on AdS_4\times S^7/Z_{k}. By studying one-loop correction to the M-theory effective action, we calculate the correction to the entropy of thermal field theory at strong coupling. For large k level, we have also found the alpha' correction to the entropy from the string correction of the type IIA effective action. The structure of these two corrections at strong t'Hooft coupling are different.Comment: 17 pages; v4: Section 4.1 modifie

Inflation from D3-brane motion in the background of D5-branes

We study inflation arising from the motion of a BPS D3-brane in the background of a stack of k parallel D5-branes. There are two scalar fields in this set up-- (i) the radion field R, a real scalar field, and (ii) a complex tachyonic scalar field chi living on the world volume of the open string stretched between the D3 and D5 branes. We find that inflation is realized by the potential of the radion field, which satisfies observational constraints coming from the Cosmic Microwave Background. After the radion becomes of order the string length scale l_s, the dynamics is governed by the potential of the complex scalar field. Since this field has a standard kinematic term, reheating can be successfully realized by the mechanism of tachyonic preheating with spontaneous symmetry breaking.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures. New Approaches to Analyze Gasoline Rationing

In this paper, the relation among factors in the road transportation sector from March, 2005 to March, 2011 is analyzed. Most of the previous studies have economical point of view on gasoline consumption. Here, a new approach is proposed in which different data mining techniques are used to extract meaningful relations between the aforementioned factors. The main and dependent factor is gasoline consumption. First, the data gathered from different organizations is analyzed by feature selection algorithm to investigate how many of these independent factors have influential effect on the dependent factor. A few of these factors were determined as unimportant and were deleted from the analysis. Two association rule mining algorithms, Apriori and Carma are used to analyze these data. These data which are continuous cannot be handled by these two algorithms. Therefore, the two-step clustering algorithm is used to discretize the data. Association rule mining analysis shows that fewer vehicles, gasoline rationing, and high taxi trips are the main factors that caused low gasoline consumption. Carma results show that the number of taxi trips increase after gasoline rationing. Results also showed that Carma can reach all rules that are achieved by Apriori algorithm. Finaly it showed that association rule mining algorithm results are more informative than statistical correlation analysis

    Braneworld inflation

We discuss various realizations of the four dimensional braneworld inflation in warped geometries of string theory. In all models the inflaton field is represented by a Dp probe brane scalar specifying its position in the warped throat of the compactification manifold. We study existing inflationary throat local geometries, and construct a new example. The inflationary brane is either a D3- or a D5-brane of type IIB string theory. In the latter case the inflationary brane is wrapping a two-cycle of the compactification manifold. We discuss some phenomenological aspects of the model where slow-roll conditions are under computational control.Comment: 31 pages + 6 figures, v2: published PRD versio
