Performance investigation of WOFDM for 5G wireless networks
Nowadays, emerging wireless networks scenarios such as the proposed systems for 5G is discussed widely with diverse requirements. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a conservative proposal which is used to build 5G WOFDM system (Wavelet OFDM system). The simulation of the system is initialized with BPSK then with QAM and 64-QAM the system is improved by increasing the number of levels of Discrete Wavelet Transform to five levels and finally compared with original system to prove that the it is convenient for 5G Wireless networks
Evaluation of Transit Signal Priority Implementation for Bus Transit along a Major Arterial Using Microsimulation
Transit Signal Priority (TSP) provides preferential treatment for public transit vehicles at signalized intersections when implemented. TSP is usually provided by interrupting the typical signal timings and extending the green or truncating the red for the signal phases that serve transits. This study investigates the impact of implementing a TSP treatment along a major arterial. A microsimulation approach was used to model, assess, and evaluate the potential benefits of implementing this treatment to bus transit vehicles. The network was built in a VISSIM multimodal microsimulation environment to test the traffic network performance with and without priority treatments. The study considered different peak hours for performance assessment. Three transit routes were considered in the microscopic modeling. The results showed a significant benefit of implementing TSP for the transit vehicles. The travel time was reduced by more than 40% in some cases, which can be translated into lower transit delay and more reliable transit service. The results also showed that TSP has a minimal negative effect on the general traffic. In fact, the general traffic along the studied transit routes benefited from the TSP implementation because of the better traffic progression and additional green times. 2018 The Authors. Relationship between Hidrogenionic Potential (pH) of Protein-based Baits and Attraction of the Mediterranean Fruit Fly, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann)
Hidrogenionic potential (pH) of the baits plays a fundamental role in attracting
fruit flies. So, the purposes of this study were to study the effect of pH-level
on the ability of protein-based baits to attract Mediterranean fruit fly,
Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae) under
field conditions. Three concentrations of Buminal (2.5, 5 and 10%) in addition
to three concentrations of ammonium acetate, ammonium carbonate, di-ammonium
phosphate and acetic acid (1, 2 and 3%) added to Buminal 5% were tested by using
the modified Nadel traps in navel orange and mandarin orchards. The obtained
data showed that the highest effective treatment in attracting C.
capitata adults in navel orange and mandarin orchards was that of
Buminal + 3% of ammonium acetate, where, pH-levels ranged between 6.32 and 6.89.
Buminal + acetic acid when used at pH-levels ranged between 3.73 and 4.43 were
less attractive to C. capitata. All of the tested treatments
obviously attracted females more than males. Statistically, C.
capitata adults specifically were females affected by pH-level more
than concentration percentage. C. capitata preferred baits
which had pH-levels ranged between 5.5 and 8.5 and the highest attractive
treatments were occurred between 6.32 and 8.29
OFDM PAPR reduction for image transmission using improved tone reservation
High peak to average power ration (PAPR) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is an important problem, which increase the cost and complexity of high power amplifiers. One of the techniques used to reduce the PAPR in OFDM system is the tone reservation method (TR). In our work we propose a modified tone reservation method to decrease the PAPR with low complexity compared with the conventional TR method by process the high and low amplitudes at the same time. An image of size 128×128 is used as a source of data that transmitted using OFDM system. The proposed method decrease the PAPR by 2dB compared with conventional method with keeping the performance unchanged. The performance of the proposed method is tested with several numbers of subcarriers; we found that the PAPR is reduced as the number of subcarriers decreased

Improved throughput of Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) processor implementation over Koblitz curve k-163 on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)
FPGA . The widespread use of the Internet of things (IoT) in different aspects of an individual’s life like banking, wireless intelligent devices and smartphones has led to new security and performance challenges under restricted resources. The Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) is the most suitable choice for the environments due to the smaller size of the encryption key and changeable security related parameters. However, major performance metrics such as area, power, latency and throughput are still customisable and based on the design requirements of the device.
The present paper puts forward an enhancement for the throughput performance metric by proposing a more efficient design for the hardware implementation of ECDSA. The design raised the throughput to 0.08207 Mbit/s, leading to an increase of 6.95% from the existing design. It also includes the design and implementation of the Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART) module. The present work is based on a 163-bit key-size over Koblitz curve k-163 and secure hash function SHA-1. A serial module for the underlying modular layer, high-speed architecture of Koblitz point addition and Koblitz point multiplication have been considered in this work, in addition to utilising the carry-save-multiplier, modular adder-subtractor and Extended Euclidean module for ECDSA protocols. All modules are designed using VHDL and implemented on the platform Virtex5 xc5vlx155t-3ff1738. Signature generation requires 0.55360ms, while its validation consumes 1.10947288ms. Thus, the total time required to complete both processes is equal to 1.66ms and the maximum frequency is approximately 83.477MHZ, consuming a power of 99mW with the efficiency approaching 3.39 * 10-6

A Strategy for Emergency Vehicle Preemption and Route Selection
Emergency vehicle preemption (EVP) aims to give right of way to emergency vehicles (EV) heading toward the incident location through a network of signalized intersections by creating a green wave en-route. The design goals of EVP systems are two folds: first, to avoid any hindrance to the passage of EV along the road and at the intersections and second, to reduce the negative impact of preemption on general traffic. The negative impact of EVP on normal traffic can be minimized by selecting appropriate preemption strategy. The EVP schemes proposed earlier aim to minimize the travel time of the EV with no or little consideration to the negative impact of EVP on the normal traffic. In this study, a joint strategy for optimal path selection and EV preemption is developed. The proposed scheme selects the optimal path for the EV before it departs from its origin and then activates the preemption on each intersection en-route at the right time to clear the intersection before the EV reaches. The proposed EVP scheme also aims to minimize the impact of EVP over normal traffic at both stages (i.e., path selection phase and preemption phase). A major advantage of the proposed method is that once the optimal path is selected, the emergency information can be disseminated to other vehicles using vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication in the EV path to clear the entire route or the approaching lane. The strategy was tested using a microscopic simulation environment for a real traffic network. The findings indicated a major reduction in the travel time of the EV while minimizing the impact of preemption on the normal traffic. The proposed strategy and evaluation procedure can be helpful for corresponding agencies and practitioners to assess the impact of implementing preemption on existing or proposed arterials. - 2019, The Author(s).Open access funding provided by the Qatar National Library.Scopu
The Design and Implementation of Integrated E-Cart on E-Hyper Market
The idea in this paper is to design and build an E-Business Market that is very huge; the purpose is to enable customers to buy through the World Wide Web by applying the Browser-server architecture in Electronic Commerce. With the possibility of selling any type of goods, whether it2019;s digital or physical, you would need to increase the proportion of sales to ensure customer convenience. The hypermarket is trying as much as possible to make the process of purchasing goods very simple, therefore it is building and configuring a comprehensive electronic commercial site on the Internet. The new hypermarket provides novel services. It includes a number of commercial sites. The management of products that are offered by each site are done through the site owner. The site owner will manage the system and modify the products of his site through a set of tools provided by the main site. A new way is used to display the various products type which makes the navigation in the site and comparing its products with other related sites very easy. The E-Hyper Market website provides a flexible method of payment that allows the customer to select a payment plan that suits him. Also, unique search schema is offered. The searching process of the products according to certain conditions can be accomplished in a detailed search. This properties based search depends on determining the values and the ranges of the characteristics of the product, which provides accurate results. We have used ASP.NET as a programming language to implement this project and the database program that is used to store the products data is MY SQL. Given the extra services mentioned above, our site will be more flexible and easier to use compared with other similar sites
Proposed Educational Strategies for A Reformed Pharmacy Curriculum Based on Graduate’s Self-Perceived Assessment of Pre-Service Education
Introduction: Pharmacy practice witnessed dramatic significant changes over the past years worldwide. The traditional role of the pharmacist involving preparation, dispensing and selling of medications is no longer adequate. This has evolved into direct involvement of the pharmacist in the design, implementation, and monitoring of therapeutic plans to produce specific care outcomes. The Bachelor degree in pharmacy at the University of Aden, Yemen, witnessed scarce reviews or evaluation studies on graduates and curriculum introduced in 1995 and unchanged till 2018. Objectives: To (1) assess perception of pharmacists, working in Aden, of their pre-service education and its relevance to current work and (2) analyze the available benchmarks and propose educational strategies that could be addressed in designing and adopting a reformed pharmacy pre-service curriculum in light of results of the study. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire distributed to 220 pharmacists working in urban Aden city with response rate 86% (n=189). Questions covered general personal information; perception of pre-service educational subjects/courses and their relevance to current job; status of respondents’ practice of skills and attitudes acquired during their study. Analysis of the 7-star role of pharmacist is done based on results of the study. Results: Practicing pharmacists work in 5 different settings in Aden, in community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, industrial pharmaceutics, management of medicines and medical supplies and academic pharmacy. Majority marked existence of weak linkage between preservice curriculum and daily work demands. 16 out of the 17 basic sciences were not used in work and to a lesser degree, similar results of pharmaceutical sciences, skills and attitudes. Accordingly, seven educational strategies are proposed. Conclusion: The study showed that pharmacists working in Aden, Yemen, need different knowledge, skills and attitude to be able to perform the current job demands. The results also showed weak link between education and job practice. One of the main challenges facing pharmacy education is the adoption of educational strategies that respond to lack of active acquisition of the needed competencies to produce a “fit-for-purpose pharmacy graduate.” Keywords: pharmacy, pre-service, education, reform, strategies DOI: 10.7176/JHMN/76-01 Publication date:June 30th 202
