Modeling Urban Complexity in Point Clouds and Sound

The urban landscape is becoming denser, spreading not only horizontally but also vertically above and underground. In the fields of landscape architecture and urban landscape planning, today’s digital models especially employed as virtual reality applications have significant limitations when it comes to a holistic perception of the urban environment. The work described in this paper attempts to develop ways of creating a virtual reality application which allows users to navigate through a digital environment at a large scale while retaining a high overall level of feature details. Some new approaches to data acquisition, audio visual parity, navigation and scaling in the digital environment and at dynamic levels of detail have been developed to this effect.ISSN:2367-4253ISSN:2511-624
