This proposal describes the approaches that will be taken by the UvA@Home team to compete in Standard Platform League with the Softbank Robotics Pepper. The research challenges concern person recognition, object recognition, object manipulation and navigation using the previous research and achievements of the UvA teams in the RoboCup

Intelligent News Conversation with the Pepper Robot

The UvA@Home Team develops social behaviours for home assistance robots. Beside the use of classical techniques for human robot interaction, such as speech recognition, image recognition and language processing, the team strives to explore new means of improving social interactions. To showcase how the inclusion of new fields can improve social behaviour a news conversation agent will be demonstrated

This team description paper describes the approaches that will be taken by the UvA@Home team to compete in Standard Platform League with the Softbank Robotics Pepper. The research challenges concern person recognition, natural language processing and navigation. Modules implemented so far include people detection, speech recognition and natural language processing. The remaining challenges will be solved using the previous research and achievements of the UvA teams in the RoboCup
