We discuss the relation between multi-particle production in the Glasma at next-to-leading order and the physics of plasma instabilities.Comment: 4 pages, talk at Quark Matter 200

Proton-nucleus collisions in the color glass condensate framework

We discuss proton-nucleus collisions in the framework of the color glass condensate. By assuming that the proton can be described as a low density color source, we solve exactly the Yang-Mills equations corresponding to this type of collision, and then use this solution in order to calculate inclusive gluon production or quark-antiquark production. Our result shows that k_T-factorization, while valid for gluon production, is violated for quark pair production in proton-nucleus collisions.Comment: Talk given at SEWM2004, Helsinki, June 200

The glasma initial state and JIMWLK factorization

We review recent work on understanding the next to leading order corrections to the classical fields that dominate the initial stages of a heavy ion collision. We have recently shown that the leading ln(1/x) divergences of these corrections to gluon multiplicities can be factorized into the JIMWLK evolution of the color charge density distributions.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures. Heavy flavor production in pA collisions

Heavy quark production in high-energy proton-nucleus (pA) collisions is described in the framework of the Color Glass Condensate. kT factorization is broken even at leading order albeit a more general factorization in pA holds at this order in terms of 2, 3 and 4 point correlators of Wilson lines in the nuclear target. The x-evolution of these correlators is computed in the large A and large N mean field limit of the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation. We show results for heavy quark production at RHIC and LHC energies.Comment: Talk given at QM2006. 4

High energy factorization in nucleus-nucleus collisions II - Multigluon correlations

    Get PDF
We extend previous results (arXiv:0804.2630 [hep-ph]) on factorization in high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions by computing the inclusive multigluon spectrum to next-to-leading order. The factorization formula is strictly valid for multigluon emission in a slice of rapidity of width \Delta Y< 1/\alpha_s. Our results show that often neglected disconnected graphs dominate the inclusive multigluon spectrum and are essential to prove factorization for this quantity. These results provide a dynamical framework for the Glasma flux tube picture of the striking "ridge"-like correlation seen in heavy ion collisions.Comment: 29 page

Ekpyrosis and inflationary dynamics in heavy ion collisions: the role of quantum fluctuations

We summarize recent significant progress in the development of a first-principles formalism to describe the formation and evolution of matter in very high energy heavy ion collisions. The key role of quantum fluctuations both before and after a collision is emphasized. Systematic computations are now feasible to address early time dynamics essential to quantifying properties of strongly interacting quark-gluon matter.Comment: Talk by R.V. at Quark Matter 2011, Annecy, France, May 23-28, 2011. Violation of kT factorization in quark production from the Color Glass Condensate

We examine the violation of the kT factorization approximation for quark production in high energy proton-nucleus collisions. We comment on its implications for the open charm and quarkonium production in collider experiments.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures, contribution to proceedings of Quark Matter 2005, Budapest, Aug 4-
