    Fulminant reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome in post-partum female

    Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS) is a clinical and radiologic syndrome that represents a common presentation of a diverse group of disorders. Call-Fleming syndrome which is a part of RCVS group. We present a case of 30 year old primigravida who developed thunderclap headache followed by seizures on her day 1 of postpartum period. MRI revealed left anterior cerebral artery infarct with vasoconstriction of bilateral internal carotid arteries and its branches. She was managed conservatively. Follow up on 25th day revealed complete reversal of vasoconstriction in above mentioned arteries which confirmed the diagnosis of Call-Fleming syndrome. Patient had residual aphasia and right lower limb paresis on 2 months follow up

    The spin distributions are measured for the compound nucleus 80Sr populated in the reactions 16O+64Zn and 32S+48Ti. The comparison of the experimental results for both the systems shows that the mean γ-ray multiplicity values for the system 32S+48Ti are lower than those for 16O+64Zn. The spin distribution of the compound nucleus populated through the symmetric channel is also found to be lower than the asymmetric channel. Present investigation directly shows the effect of entrance channel mass asymmetry on the reaction dynamics

    Role of Multidetector Computed Tomography in Evaluation of Blunt Abdominal Trauma

    Introduction: Abdominal injury constitutes a significant portion of all blunt and penetrating body injuries. Computed tomography gives rapid information on the type of abdominal injury and helps in management of the patient accordingly. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the usefulness of Multidetector Computed Tomography (MDCT) in detection of intraabdominal injury in patients with blunt abdominal trauma and to provide information that could accurately determine choice of management (non- operative versus operative), also to correlate the computed tomography (CT) findings with either clinical observation, follow up CT scan (if required), or surgical findings (wherever applicable). Methodology: Patients admitted to various emergency departments of Government Medical College and associated hospitals with history of abdominal trauma during the period of January 2018 to October 2018 were taken for the study. A total of 50 patients with abdominal trauma who underwent computed tomography (CT) examination were included. CT findings were compared with surgical findings in operated cases, and in the rest CT findings were compared by clinical outcome. Results: Among the 50 cases studied, all 50 had positive CTfindings of abdominal trauma, out of which 24 patients underwent surgery and the remaining were managed conservatively. The age group of the patients was ranging from 8 to 66 years. In this study, the commonest organs affected were liver and spleen accounting for 48% and 44%, respectively. Conclusion: The MDCT was an excellent tool for detection, evaluation, and deciding the management of the cases (operative or nonoperative). It helps in grading of the type of injury and accordingly deciding the management of patient

    Intracranial lipomas are rare incidental lesions. Rokitansky first described a corpus callosal lipoma on the posterior part of the corpus callosum in 1856. Since then many cases have been reported. We report the imaging findings of an interhemispheric lipoma extending into subcutaneous plane associated with spinal lipomeningocele and corpus callosal dysgenesis. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings are characteristic. All cases have been reported in pediatric age group till now. Such a case in this age group has not been reported earlier

    A rare case report of bilateral internal carotid artery hypoplasia in postpartum female: Clinical spectrum and role of various modalities in diagnosis

    Congenital hypoplasia of bilateral internal carotid arteries (ICAs) is an extremely rare anomaly with less than 25 reported cases in literature till date. We present a case of a 30-year-old primigravida, who developed seizures and subsequently loss of consciousness just few minutes after the delivery of a healthy male child. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case with bilateral ICA hypoplasia presenting in postpartum female who developed infarct in bilateral frontal region and subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). On a postpartum three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT) angiography, bilateral ICA hypoplasia was confirmed and the manifestations of infarcts were probably the consequence of altered hemodynamics of pregnancy. In conclusion, a patient in her late pregnancy and postpartum period, having nonspecific cerebral symptoms or having suffered a cerebrovascular accident, should not only be evaluated for pregnancy or puerperium-related complications but also whenever possible a baseline screening with Doppler study of neck vessels and a noncontrast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) angiography of neck and cerebral vessels should be performed to rule out congenital anomalies
