Degeneracy of Landau Level and Quantum Group SL_q(2)

We show that there is a kind of quantum group symmetry slq(2) sl_{q}(2) in the usual Landau problem and it is this quantum group symmetry that governs the degeneracy of Landau levels. We find that under the periodic boundary condition, the degree of degeneracy of Landau levels is finite, and it just equals the dimension of the irreducible cyclic representation of the quantum group slq(2) sl_{q}(2) .Comment: 10 pages, Preprint ( reprint ) of Nankai Institute of Mathematics. Holographic fermions in charged Lifshitz theory

We investigate the properties of holographic fermions in charged Lifshitz black holes at finite temperature through the AdS/CFT correspondence. In the charged Lifshitz background with the dynamical exponent z=2z=2, we find that the dispersion relation is linear. The scaling behavior of the imaginal part of the Green function relative to k⊥=k−kFk_{\perp}=k-k_F is also discussed. We find, although the system has linear dispersion relation and quadratic quasi-particle width, it does not satisfy Luttinger's theorem. We also find that the variation of the scaling parameters α\alpha and β\beta is small as the charge qq varies. Furthermore, we also discuss the effect of the dynamical exponent zz by considering the cases z=4z=4 and z=6z=6 and show that ImGiiImG_{ii} become smooth when the dynamical exponent zz increases.Comment: 1+16pages, many figures, published versio

    Liquid Crystal Display

    Get PDF
A display includes pixel circuits, each pixel circuit including a first electrode, a second electrode, a third electrode, and a liquid crystal layer doped with a chiral material. The first electric is electrically coupled to a first reference voltage. The second electrode receives a pixel voltage corresponding to a gray scale level, the second electrode including a conducting layer having openings. The third electrode is electrically coupled to a second reference voltage. The second electrode is between the first and third electrodes, and the liquid crystal layer is between the first and second electrodes
