Background: Oligohydramnios refers to amniotic fluid volume that is less than expected for gestational age. We aimed to assess the perinatal outcomes in pregnancies with oligohydramnios. Methods: The prospective study was conducted in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pravara Medical College, Loni in which 200 consecutive singleton pregnancies delivered vaginally, with intact membranes were included. Amniotic fluid index was determined using the Phelan’s technique at the time of admission and women were diagnosed with oligohydramnios if AFI was five or less, which formed the first group and the rest of mother formed the second group. Perinatal outcomes were noted in the proforma as well. Results: Of the 200 mothers included in the study, 38 had AFI ≤ 5. Baseline characteristics was similar in both the groups. Most common antenatal risk factors studies were pregnancy induced hypertension (29% vs 12%; p value <0.05), intrauterine growth restriction (34% vs 10%; p value <0.001) and severe anemia (21% vs 9%; p value <0.05). Proportion of pregnancies needing induction of labor and birth weight less than 2.5 kgs were significantly higher among mothers with oligohydramnios. Conclusions: Authors observed that induction of labor and low birth weight were significantly associated with oligohydramnios. Prospective randomized trials are needed to establish whether early induction of labor in the presence of a oligohydramnios improves perinatal outcome

IEEE 802.15.4(Zigbee)[1] standard is low data rate, low power consumption and low cost wireless personal area network. In order to transmit large amount of information that require high data such as video, image and audio and its encryption and decryption is considered.Zigbee in general uses a single channel for data transmission. In this paper we proposeddata transmission (pdf, image) over zigbee networks with DES encryption, which aims to improve total throughput of networks and secure transmission of data

State-of-the-art technology has been developed for the fabrication of 33 mm hollow cylindrical elements from Lanthanum-dooed lead zirconate titanate-based material suitable for oassive surveillance arrays of SONAR systems. It covers properties of the material composition, isostatic pressing technique, precision machining, sintering to produce dielectrically sound distortion-free cylindrical elements, ceramic grinding, electroding, poling to achieve electromechanical properties, and evaluation of dielectric, piezoelectric, and elastic properties of the cylinders

    (+)-Methyl 3β-acetoxy-13-carboxy-19-hydroxy-11-oxo-C-norolean-18-en-30-oate γ-lactone

The title compound, C33H46O7, is an unusual oxydation product of the therapeutic agent glycyrrhetinic acid that has, in comparison to the latter, a distinctly altered triterpene structure with one five- and four six-membered carbocycles complemented by a γ-lactone ring with a spiro-junction and a ring double bond. The junction between the five-membered ring C, a cyclopentanone ring, and the six-membered ring D, previously in question, was found to be cis, confirming earlier structure assignments based solely on chemical transformations. In the solid state, the compound exhibits five intra- and four intermolecular C—H⋯O interactions with H⋯O distances less than or equal to 2.70 Å and C—H⋯O greater than 100°

Quadrol-Pd(II) complexes: phosphine-free precatalysts for the room-temperature Suzuki-Miyaura synthesis of nucleoside analogues in aqueous media

Commercially available Quadrol, N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxypropyl)ethylenediamine (THPEN), has been used for the first time as N^N- donor neutral hydrophilic ligand in the synthesis and characterization of new water soluble palladium (II) complexes containing chloride, phthalimidate or saccharinate as co-ligands. [PdCl2(THPEN)] (1) [Pd(phthal)2(THPEN)] (2), [Pd(sacc)2(THPEN)] (3) and the analogous complex with the closely related N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine (THEEN) [Pd(sacc)2(THEEN)] (4) were efficiently prepared in a one-pot reaction from [PdCl2(CH3CN)2] or Pd(OAc)2. Structural characterization of 1 and 3 by single crystal X-ray diffraction produced the first structures reported to date of palladium complexes with Quadrol. The resultant palladium complexes are highly soluble in water and were found to be effective as phosphine-free catalysts for the synthesis of functionalized nucleoside analogues under room-temperature Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling conditions between 5-iodo-2'-deoxyuridine (& 5-iodo-2'-deoxycytidine) with different aryl boronic acids in neat water. This is the first report of the coupling process performed on nucleosides in water at room temperature. This work has been partially supported by RTI2018-098233-B-C21 (MICINN) and 20790/PI/18 (Fundación SENECA CARM) grants. The aim of present study was to prepare sustained release tablet of Theophylline so as to prolong its elimination time and at the same time to keep cost of the formulation minimum. In this study ethyl cellulose and Eudragit are used in the formulation to sustain the release of Theophylline. Ethyl cellulose and Eudragit are added at the granulation step to form a sustained release coating around each granule. Different batches were designed one after another on trial and error basis to get the optimum drug release upto 12 hours. Enhancing the efficacy of cytotoxic agents for cancer therapy using photochemical internalisation.

    Get PDF
Photochemical internalisation (PCI) is a technique for improving cellular delivery of certain bioactive agents which are prone to sequestration within endolysosomes. There is a wide range of agents suitable for PCI-based delivery including toxins, oligonucleotides, genes and immunoconjugates which demonstrates the versatility of this technique. The basic mechanism of PCI involves triggering release of the agent from endolysosomes within the target cells using a photosensitiser which is selectively retained with the endolysosomal membranes. Excitation of the photosensitiser by visible light leads to disruption of the membranes via photooxidative damage thereby releasing the agent into the cytosol. This treatment enables the drugs to reach their intended subcellular target more efficiently and improves their efficacy. In this review we summarise the applications of this technique with the main emphasis placed on cancer chemotherapy

Formulation and In-vitro evaluation of sustained release matrix tablet of Metformin hydrochloride

    Get PDF
The low bioavailability and short half-life of Metformin hydrochloride (MH) make the development of sustained-release forms desirable. Present work involves preparation and optimization of sustained release matrix tablet of MH by direct compression method using HPMC K 100 and ethyl cellulose as a matrix forming polymer. Avicel was added as a direct compaction vehicle to improve the compaction behavior of Metformin which otherwise exhibits poor compaction behavior which again is further increased by its relatively high dose. Hydrophilic matrix of HPMC alone resulted in initial burst of Metformin release, however when combined with ethyl cellulose drug release was slowed down and thereafter it became optimal at particular concentration of polymers.
