Ontologies Development for IT Project Risk Management Teaching

    No full text
The paper presents one practical approach aimed at developing teaching ontologies. The methodology that will scaffold the process of knowledge structuring and ontology design is described. Moreover, special stress should be placed on visual design as a powerful learning mind tool. The described process is used for developing of a practical ontology from the domain of IT project risk management

Technology for Ontological Engineering Lifecycle Support

The research is partially supported by Russian Foundation for Basic Research (grants 06-01-81005 and 07-01- 00053)Presented paper describes software system project ONTOLINGE-KAON that provides technological support for the whole lifecycle of ontological engineering. The main stress is put on the evaluation of maturity and quality of ontologies and on the usage of ontologies with the help of automated generation of knowledge portals, based on ontologies. Possibility of creation of knowledge portals built on top of ontologies can become a big step forward in the field of e-learning. The paper presents advantages provided by knowledge portals based on top on ontologies

Development of Educational Ontology for C-Programming

    Get PDF
Development of educational ontologies is a step towards creation of sharable and reusable adaptive educational systems. Ontology as a conceptual courseware structure may work as a mind tool for effective teaching and as a visual navigation interface to the learning objects. The paper discusses an approach to the practical ontology development and presents the designed ontology for teaching/learning C programming

One Approach to Knowledge Mapping for International Student Portal

    Get PDF
    * The work is partly supported by RFFI grant 08-07-00062-aKnowledge portal is an approach used to provide view of domain-specific information on the World Wide Web [13]. In this paper, we present one approach by using ontology engineering as a conceptual backbone and relationships for knowledge extracting, structuring and formalizing as a comprehensive way for building knowledge portal. For illustration of a practical ontology development of knowledge portal, the described ideas are implemented in a system design for international student service

Cognitive Bias in Knowledge Engineering Course

    Get PDF
The paper presents experience in teaching of knowledge and ontological engineering. The teaching framework is targeted on the development of cognitive skills that will allow facilitating the process of knowledge elicitation, structuring and ontology development for scaffolding students’ research. The structuring procedure is the kernel of ontological engineering. The 5-steps ontology designing process is described. Special stress is put on “beautification” principles of ontology creating. The academic curriculum includes interactive game-format training of lateral thinking, interpersonal cognitive intellect and visual mind mapping techniques

Acquiring Implicit Knowledge by Cognitive Semantics Mapping

    Get PDF
This paper describes one way of representation of expert’s knowledge aimed at revealing implicit semantics associated with the chosen domain. For this, two important techniques are combined. First, a space of metaphors is selected to complement a given set of the domain stimuli. An expert then performs a subjective scaling quiz on both domain stimuli and metaphors. Second, a geometrical representation of expert’s answers is built and analyzed. The result is interpreted in terms of theories of psychological meaning. The paper discusses the approach and proposes a template for arbitrary experiments of such ways of knowledge elicitation

Teaching Strategies and Ontologies for E-Learning

    Get PDF
    * The work is partially suported by Russian Foundation for Basic Studies (grant 02-01-00466).The paper presents one approach aimed at developing teaching strategies based on the principles of ontological engineering. The research framework is targeted on development of methodology and technology that will scaffold the process of knowledge structuring for e-learning. The structuring procedure is the kernel of ontology development. Ontologies that describe the main concepts of the domains are used both for teaching and assessment techniques. Special stress is put on visual design as a powerful learning mindtool. The examples are taken from the courses on the foundations of artificial intelligence and intelligent systems development. These courses are delivered by the authors in St.Petersburg State Polytechnical University at School of Computer Science and in Poland in the First Independent University

This article describes the process of prototyping adaptive online learning using the authoring tool for developers, which is based on ontologies. The article also gives a brief overview of contemporary situation and describes modern trends of evolution e-learning courses and present standards in this area. It also describes architecture of system VITA II

First Steps in Ontology Development: Knowledge Portal for Software Testers

    Get PDF
Nowadays, knowledge portals make an important contribution to enabling organizational knowledge management by providing users interactive and personalized interface which facilitates efficient access to various types of information. However, navigation through mass of information represented on the web is not expedient and effective, as well as the development and maintenance. The emerging ontology-based approach serves as a semantic backbone for knowledge constructing, accessing and representing can be used to filling up these short coming. In this paper we attempt to build knowledge portal for software testing service by using ontology-based technique and web page development technology. Further more, we want to summarize a set of approaches of ontology-based knowledge portal development which can be used for different areas
