Correlation between molecular dipole moment and centrosymmetry in some crystalline diphenyl ethers

The presence of a large molecular dipole moment in diphenyl ethers leads unequivocally to a centrosymmetric crystal structure

Dimorphs of 4'-amino-4-hydroxy-2'-methylbiphenyl: assessment of likelihood of polymorphism in flexible molecules

The less stable polymorph of the title compound has the better synthon while the more stable polymorph the better packing. The possibility of polymorphism in a closely related isomer is examined computationally

Supramolecular equivalence of ethynyl, chloro, bromo and iodo groups. A comparison of the crystal structures of some 4-phenoxyanilines

    Get PDF
4-(4'-Iodo)phenoxyaniline is isostructural to the corresponding bromo, chloro and ethynyl derivatives in contrast to 4-iodoaniline which is not isostructural to its bromo, chloro and ethynyl counterparts. This difference is rationalised in terms of conditional isomorphism

A comparison of ultraviolet sensitivities in universal, nonuniversal, and split extra dimensional models

We discuss the origin of ultraviolet sensitivity in extra dimensional theories, and compare and contrast the cutoff dependences in universal, nonuniversal and split five dimensional models. While the gauge bosons and scalars are in the five dimensional bulk in all scenarios, the locations of the fermions are different in different cases. In the universal model all fermions can travel in the bulk, in the nonuniversal case they are all confined at the brane, while in the split scenario some are in the bulk and some are in the brane. A possible cure from such divergences is also discussed.Comment: 9 pages, Latex, no figure, v2: further clarifications and references added, accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.

A Review on Forwarding Strategies in NDN based Vehicular Networks

    Get PDF
Named Data Networking (NDN) is a model that has been proposed by many researchers to alter the long-established IP based networking model. It derives the content centric approach rather than host-based approach. This is gaining even more traction in the wireless network and is able to replace the conventional IP-based networking. Up to now, NDN has proven to be fruitful when used with certain limitations in vehicular networks. Vehicular networks deal with exchanging information across fast moving complex vehicle network topology. The sending and receiving of information in such a scenario acts as a challenge and thus requires an effective forwarding strategy to address this problem. Different research work has provided with multiple forwarding strategy that solves the current problem up to some limit but further research work is still longed for to get an optimum solution. This paper provides a brief survey on current existing forwarding strategies related to vehicular networks using NDN as well as providing information on various resources and technologies used in it

ESTIMATION OF CARBON FOOTPRINT OF INDIAN HOUSEHOLDS IN KALYANI SUBDIVISION OF DISTRICT NADIA, WEST BENGAL, INDIA

    Get PDF
The present study aims to assess the contribution of Indian households to the increase in carbon footprint. Hence, this cross-sectional study was conducted in the Kalyani subdivision of Nadia district, West Bengal, India. Data were collected from 610 households, comprising 299 rural and 311 urban households, to analyse energy consumption patterns for various purposes. To summarize the dependent and continuous data, descriptive statistics were employed, while for inferences, independent sample t-test, Pearson correlation and regression were used. A significant difference was observed in total annual household carbon footprint between the urban and rural households due to varied energy consumption (t = 15.60, p < 0.05). The urban households were emitting twice (2325.20 kgCO2e) as much as the rural ones (1125.77 kgCO2e). It can also be inferred that emission was determined by the increase in household size, income, and improvement in the standard of living. Thus, in addition to several determinants, a complex cultural system, social practices, and awareness of green consumerism should also be incorporated and studied through an interdisciplinary approach to reduce the overall household carbon footprint
