A Fast Eigen Solution for Homogeneous Quadratic Minimization with at most Three Constraints
We propose an eigenvalue based technique to solve the Homogeneous Quadratic
Constrained Quadratic Programming problem (HQCQP) with at most 3 constraints
which arise in many signal processing problems. Semi-Definite Relaxation (SDR)
is the only known approach and is computationally intensive. We study the
performance of the proposed fast eigen approach through simulations in the
context of MIMO relays and show that the solution converges to the solution
obtained using the SDR approach with significant reduction in complexity.Comment: 15 pages, The same content without appendices is accepted and is to

An Eigen Approach to Transmit Beamforming in Wireless Networks With Single Antenna Receivers
In this paper, we propose an eigen framework for transmit beamforming for single-hop and dual-hop network models with single antenna receivers. In cases where number of receivers is not more than three, the proposed Eigen approach is vastly superior in terms of ease of implementation and computational complexity compared with the existing convex-relaxation-based approaches. The essential premise is that the precoding problems can be posed as equivalent optimization problems of searching for an optimal vector in the joint numerical range of Hermitian matrices. We show that the latter problem has two convex approximations: the first one is a semi-definite program that yields a lower bound on the solution, and the second one is a linear matrix inequality that yields an upper bound on the solution. We study the performance of the proposed and existing techniques using numerical simulations
Degrees of freedom of relay aided MIMO X network with orthogonal components
We consider the one-way relay aided MIMO X fading Channel where there are two transmitters and two receivers along with a relay with M antennas at every node. Every transmitter wants to transmit messages to every other receiver. The relay broadcasts to the receivers along a noisy link which is independent of the transmitters channel. In literature, this is referred to as a relay with orthogonal components. We derive an upper bound on the degrees of freedom of such a network. Next we show that the upper bound is tight by proposing an achievability scheme based on signal space alignment for the same for M = 2 antennas at every node
