In current conditions, traditional antiallergic therapy for atopic dermatitis does not always help to achieve timely remission, so the development of effective therapy methods is a very topical task. The promising direction of probiotics in combination with prebiot-ics, including the original mono-strain synbiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus LGG® at optimal high concentration of 4 х 109 CFU and prebiotic fructooligosaccharides 800 mg is drawing attention. This article presents data in a clinical case format. This article presents its own data in a clinical case format. The clinical case 1 showed that administration of synbiotic in 1 sachet 1 time per day for 14 days in the composition therapeutic diet during the period of complex antiallergic therapy to a 5-month-old child with a moderate course of atopic dermatitis resulted in a pronounced positive dynamics and achievement of remission on the 10th day after the treatment start against normalization of stool. Prior to this, the child had received only antiallergic therapy, which led to improvement of the skin process, but full clinical remission could not be achieved. Clinical case 2 showed the effectiveness of synbiotic in the composition therapeutic diet during the period of comprehensive antiallergic therapy in a 10-month-old child with a mild course of atopic dermatitis. From day 2 of treatment there was a significant positive dynamics in the skin process. On day 12, remission was achieved: relief of acute inflammatory elements on the face and at the elbows on the background of increased lactobaciUus content from 104 to 106 CFU/g of feces and bifidobacteria from 107 to 109 CFU/g of feces. Clinical case 3 demonstrates the efficacy of synbiotic in 2 sachets once a day for 14 days in a 9-year-old child with atopic dermatitis of moderate severity with a continuously relapsing course. From the 4th day of the beginning of the complex therapy positive dynamics in the skin process was noted, on the 14th day partial remission was achieved: erythematous elements on the back and extremities were eliminated, signs of hyperemia, infiltration and scratching disappeared against the background of stool normalization. Signs of dryness and slight lichenification persisted. Thus, these clinical examples demonstrate a high efficacy of synbiotic treatment in the complex antiallergic therapy of atopic dermatitis in children

Ethnic Identity and Educational Outcomes of German Immigrants and Their Children

Identity can be an important driving force for educational performance. Immigrants and their children face the challenge of identifying with their host country's culture. This paper examines whether young immigrants and their children who identify stronger with the German culture are more likely to increase their educational outcomes. I use a concept of ethnic identity which is designed to capture Germanness in immigrants' day-to-day routine - based on self-identification, language skills and cultural habits. The research design takes into account the issue of endogeneity of ethnic identity in an educational outcome equation by measuring education and identity at different moments and by using an endogenous latent factor methodology. The paper finds that identification with the German culture has an overall positive effect on educational outcomes and diminishes and renders the educational gap between immigrants and the second generation insignificant. The paper¿s results indicate that the second generation identifies stronger with the German culture than immigrants, no matter whether of German, European, Central European or Turkish background. Apart from the immigrant generation, own low educational attainment and high mother's educational attainment matter for identification with the German culture

Efficiency of elimination-irrigation therapy in children with allergic rhinitis and recurrent respiratory

    Get PDF
Introduction. Despite new diagnostic methods contributing to an understanding of the etiopathogenesis of acute respiratory tract diseases and a variety of drugs for effective therapy, respiratory tract diseases continue to stand first in the overall morbidity profile in both children and adults. Frequently ill children are most susceptible to diseases, especially at the age of 3 to 6 years old, which accounts for up to 75% of all acute respiratory infection cases and shows no positive response to the medical-preventive activities. The article discusses the relationship between allergic rhinitis and recurrent respiratory diseases.Materials and methods. The possibility and effectiveness of complex treatment of allergic rhinitis in 65 frequently ill children aged 3 to 12 years are considered. The main group consisted of 35 children who were included in the traditional anti-allergic therapy with an isotonic solution of sea salt in an age-related dose for 10 days. The comparison group consisted of 30 children who received only traditional anti-allergic therapy, which was comparable in the compared groups. Patients underwent in-depth clinical and specific allergological examinations, as well as assessment of atopic response parameters of mucosal immunity, including determination of eosinophil levels, side, and Il-4 concentrations in nasal secretions.Results. Thus, the 12-month follow-up control over children with AR showed that the annual frequency of ARIs in the treatment group decreased by 1.4 times and, when averaged, was 5.2 cases, while in the comparison group it was 7.3 cases p < 0.05.Conclusions. In children with recurrent respiratory diseases, suffering from allergic rhinitis, the complex anti-allergic therapy, with the inclusion of elimination and irrigation therapy with a preparation based on isotonic sea salt solution, led to a decrease activity of markers of allergic inflammation in the nasal mucosa, which is confirmed by a decrease in the level of eosinophils, secretory IgE and IL-4 in nasal secretions against the background of a decrease in the frequency of acute respiratory diseases during follow-up for a year

The authors of the article researched the problem of training high-qualified experts to agricultural business. It is analyzed the difficulties of training students at agricultural university of Tatarstan Republic. Tatarstan Republic takes the leader position in growing agricultural products in Russian Federation. It is very important to train modern experts for agricultural business who can use up-to-date technics to grow organic corns, who can work with advanced technologies not damaging environment. The authors researched the questionaries’ of the school graduates to find the answer to the question as to why young graduates do not want to work in agriculture; why it is very difficult to attract school graduate to agrarian university; what difficulties agrarian university graduates have in agricultural business. The conclusions of this article are based on some surveys done by the authors of this research. The authors found out that there are many reasons for decreasing the number of students to agricultural business as lack of social infrastructure, low income and hard work in rural areas what reduce the motivation of young people to work in agriculture. Understanding all these disadvantages, the faculty of Kazan State Agrarian University tries to improve the situation by modernizing educational process towards individualization of educational system

Selective suppression of excessive GluN2C expression rescues early epilepsy in a tuberous sclerosis murine model

    Get PDF
Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), caused by dominant mutations in either TSC1 or TSC2 tumour suppressor genes is characterized by the presence of brain malformations, the cortical tubers that are thought to contribute to the generation of pharmacoresistant epilepsy. Here we report that tuberless heterozygote Tsc1+/Tsc1^{+/-} mice show functional upregulation of cortical GluN2C-containing N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDARs) in an mTOR-dependent manner and exhibit recurrent, unprovoked seizures during early postnatal life (<P19). Seizures are generated intracortically in the granular layer of the neocortex. Slow kinetics of aberrant GluN2C-mediated currents in spiny stellate cells promotes excessive temporal integration of persistent NMDAR-mediated recurrent excitation and seizure generation. Accordingly, specific GluN2C/D antagonists block seizures in Tsc1+/Tsc1^{+/-} mice in vivo and in vitro. Likewise, GluN2C expression is upregulated in TSC human surgical resections, and a GluN2C/D antagonist reduces paroxysmal hyperexcitability. Thus, GluN2C receptor constitutes a promising molecular target to treat epilepsy in TSC patients
