Cross-platform Comparison of Two Pancreatic Cancer Phenotypes
Model-based approaches for combining gene expression data from multiple high throughput platforms can be sensitive to technological artifacts when the number of samples in each platform is small. This paper proposes simple tools for quantifying concordance in a small study of pancreatic cancer cells lines with an emphasis on visualizations that uncover intra- and inter-platform variation. Lobster Fishery Management in the Marine Ecosystem Approach at Simeulue Island Waters (Wpp-nri 572)
The lobster fishery is one of the leading fisheries commodity on Simeulue Regency so that local government must manage wisely in order to maintain the sustainability of the lobster fishery. Aceh Government Regulation namely Qanun Aceh No. 7 of 2010 concerning fisheries already in effect. However, the institutional system has not functioned optimally in the management of lobster fisheries. The purpose this study is to examine the domain of fishing techniques, socio-economic and institutional management of lobster fisheries with ecosystem approaches in Simeulue waters. Research method using qualitative research. The method of data collection is survey method which is done by purposive sampling approach that is by doing depth responder interview which is considered informative and wide knowledge about the institute. Data analysis using EAFM analysis done with Flag Modeling technique. Based on the results of the study that the assessment of the fishing domain techniques and economic domains in aggregate showed bad category. Meanwhile, social domains and institutional domains show moderate categories so aggregate composites overall show fewer categories. It is therefore necessary to make a tactical decision from the bad to be better in accordance with the category of each EAFM domain
Half-life of the superallowed β+ emitter Ne18
The half-life of Ne18 has been determined by detecting 1042-keV γ rays in the daughter F18 following the superallowed-Fermi β+ decay of samples implanted at the center of the 8πγ-ray spectrometer, a spherical array of 20 HPGe detectors. Radioactive Ne18 beams were produced on-line, mass-separated, and ionized using an electron-cyclotron-resonance ionization source at the ISAC facility at TRIUMF in Vancouver, Canada. This is the first high-precision half-life measurement of a superallowed Fermi β decay to utilize both a large-scale HPGe spectrometer and the isotope separation on-line technique. The half-life of Ne18, 1.6656 ± 0.0019 s, deduced following a 1.4σ correction for detector pulse pile-up, is four times more precise than the previous world average. As part of an investigation into potential systematic effects, the half-life of the heavier isotope Ne23 was determined to be 37.11 ± 0.06 s, a factor of 2 improvement over the previous precision. © 2007 The American Physical Society

In Vivo T Cell Costimulation Blockade with Abatacept for Acute Graft-versus-Host Disease Prevention: A First-in-Disease Trial
AbstractWe performed a first-in-disease trial of in vivo CD28:CD80/86 costimulation blockade with abatacept for acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) prevention during unrelated-donor hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). All patients received cyclosporine/methotrexate plus 4 doses of abatacept (10 mg/kg/dose) on days −1, +5, +14, +28 post-HCT. The feasibility of adding abatacept, its pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and its impact on aGVHD, infection, relapse, and transplantation-related mortality (TRM) were assessed. All patients received the planned abatacept doses, and no infusion reactions were noted. Compared with a cohort of patients not receiving abatacept (the StdRx cohort), patients enrolled in the study (the ABA cohort) demonstrated significant inhibition of early CD4+ T cell proliferation and activation, affecting predominantly the effector memory (Tem) subpopulation, with 7- and 10-fold fewer proliferating and activated CD4+ Tem cells, respectively, at day+28 in the ABA cohort compared with the StdRx cohort (P < .01). The ABA patients demonstrated a low rate of aGVHD, despite robust immune reconstitution, with 2 of 10 patients diagnosed with grade II-IV aGVHD before day +100, no deaths from infection, no day +100 TRM, and with 7 of 10 evaluable patients surviving (median follow-up, 16 months). These results suggest that costimulation blockade with abatacept can significantly affect CD4+ T cell proliferation and activation post-transplantation, and may be an important adjunct to standard immunoprophylaxis for aGVHD in patients undergoing unrelated-donor HCT
β decay of Na32
The β-decay of Na32 has been studied using β-γ coincidences. New transitions and levels are tentatively placed in the level scheme of Mg32 from an analysis of γ-γ and β-γ-γ coincidences. The observation of the indirect feeding of the 2321 keV state in Mg32 removes some restrictions previously placed on the spin assignment for this state. No evidence of a state at 2117 keV in Mg32 is found. Previously unobserved weak transitions up to 5.4 MeV were recorded but could not be placed in the decay scheme of Na32. © 2007 The American Physical Society
High-Precision Branching Ratio Measurement for the Superallowed + Emitter 74Rb
A high-precision branching-ratio measurement for the superallowed β
+ decay of 74Rb was performed at the
TRIUMF Isotope Separator and Accelerator (ISAC) radioactive ion-beam facility. The scintillating electronpositron
tagging array (SCEPTAR), composed of 10 thin plastic scintillators, was used to detect the emitted β
particles; the 8π spectrometer, an array of 20 Compton-suppressed HPGe detectors, was used for detecting γ rays
that were emitted following Gamow-Teller and nonanalog Fermi β
+ decays of 74Rb; and the Pentagonal Array
of Conversion Electron Spectrometers (PACES), an array of 5 Si(Li) detectors, was employed for measuring
β-delayed conversion electrons. Twenty-three excited states were identified in 74Kr following 8.241(4) × 108
detected 74Rb β decays. A total of 58 γ -ray and electron transitions were placed in the decay scheme, allowing
the superallowed branching ratio to be determined as B0 = 99.545(31)%. Combined with previous half-life and
Q-value measurements, the superallowed branching ratio measured in this work leads to a superallowed f t value
of 3082.8(65) s. Comparisons between this superallowed f t value and the world-average-corrected Ft value, as
well as the nonanalog Fermi branching ratios determined in this work, provide guidance for theoretical models
of the isospin-symmetry-breaking corrections in this mass region.IS
