    La construcción doctrinal y jurisprudencial del concepto de domicilio como límite a la autotutela ejecutiva de la administración.

    The public administration is a great privilege both in the legal traffic and in its relations with the administrated, from the same moment in which in the exercise of its administrative powers, it can execute its own acts. However, this “Administrative Autotutela”, is not unlimited, especially if the execution of the administrative act in question, involves the violation of the fundamental rights of the administrator, such as privacy, home inviolability or the secrecy of their communications. From this perspective, we can affirm that, in a social and democratic State of law, the merited “Administrative Self-Management” is not an absolute power of the Administration, since there are limits and control mechanisms tending to guarantee the fundamental rights of the administered.La Administración pública, es una gran privilegiada tanto en el tráfico jurídico como en sus relaciones con los administrados, desde el mismo momento en que en el ejercicio de sus potestades administrativas, puede ejecutar sus propios actos. Sin embargo, esa “Autotutela Administrativa”, no es ilimitada, especialmente si la ejecución del acto administrativo en cuestión supone la afectación a derechos fundamentales del administrado, como es su intimidad, su inviolabilidad domiciliaria o el secreto de sus comunicaciones. Desde esta perspectiva, podemos afirmar que, en un Estado Social y Democrático de Derecho, la meritada “Autotutela Administrativa” no es un poder absoluto de la Administración, pues existen límites y mecanismos de control tendentes a garantizar los derechos fundamentales del administrado

    The Gender Gap in Political Interest Revisited

    To what extent does conventional survey measurement capture the political interest of men and women equally well? We aim to answer this question by relying on unique data from a national online survey in Spain, where we used various questions unpacking the standard indicator of political interest. The findings show that men and women nominate different personal political interests. We also find that the gender gap in political interest vanishes once these specific interests are taken into account. This suggests that at least part of the documented gender gap in general political interest might be due to the fact that, when prompted to think about politics, women disregard their own specific political interests and instead focus on the dominant, male-oriented understanding of politics

    Durability testing of a newly developed hydrophilic anti-soiling coating for solar reflectors

    Anti-soiling coatings for solar reflectors are one of the most useful technical tools to reduce the amount of soiling accumulated on the reflector surfaces, contributing to reduce the water consumption and to increase efficiency in concentrating solar fields. A new anti-soiling coating formulation based on the hydrophilic effect has been recently developed by Tekniker and Rioglass. Reflector samples with this innovative coating were assessed through an accelerated aging test campaign as well as an outdoor exposition at the PSA by CIEMAT and DLR. According to the results obtained, the coating exhibited an appropriate behavior, which implies that the new product represents a promising solution to reduce water consumption

    Electrohysterogram for ANN-Based Prediction of Imminent Labor in Women with Threatened Preterm Labor Undergoing Tocolytic Therapy

    [EN] Threatened preterm labor (TPL) is the most common cause of hospitalization in the second half of pregnancy and entails high costs for health systems. Currently, no reliable labor proximity prediction techniques are available for clinical use. Regular checks by uterine electrohysterogram (EHG) for predicting preterm labor have been widely studied. The aim of the present study was to assess the feasibility of predicting labor with a 7- and 14-day time horizon in TPL women, who may be under tocolytic treatment, using EHG and/or obstetric data. Based on 140 EHG recordings, artificial neural networks were used to develop prediction models. Non-linear EHG parameters were found to be more reliable than linear for differentiating labor in under and over 7/14 days. Using EHG and obstetric data, the <7- and <14-day labor prediction models achieved an AUC in the test group of 87.1 +/- 4.3% and 76.2 +/- 5.8%, respectively. These results suggest that EHG can be reliable for predicting imminent labor in TPL women, regardless of the tocolytic therapy stage.     Uterine myoelectrical activity as biomarker of successful induction with Dinoprostone: Influence of parity

    [EN] The prolonged latent phase of Induction of Labour (IOL) is associated with increased risks of maternal mortality and morbidity. Electrohysterography (EHG) has outperformed traditional clinical measures monitoring labour progress. Although parity is agreed to be of particular relevance to the success of IOL, no previous EHG¿related studies have been found in the literature. We thus aimed to identify EHG¿biomarkers to predict IOL success (active phase of labour in¿¿¿24¿h) and determine the influence of the myoelectrical response on the parity of this group. Statistically significant and sustained differences between the successful and failed groups were found from 150¿min in amplitude and non¿linear parameters, especially in Spectral Entropy and in their progression rates. In the nulliparous¿parous comparison, parous women showed statistically significantly higher amplitude progression rate.     Botulism in Spain: Epidemiology and Outcomes of Antitoxin Treatment, 1997-2019

    Background: Botulism is a low incidence but potentially fatal infectious disease caused by neurotoxins produced mainly by Clostridium botulinum. There are different routes of acquisition, food-borne and infant/intestinal being the most frequent presentation, and antitoxin is the treatment of choice in all cases. In Spain, botulism is under surveillance, and case reporting is mandatory. Methods: This retrospective study attempts to provide a more complete picture of the epidemiology of botulism in Spain from 1997 to 2019 and an assessment of the treatment, including the relationship between a delay in antitoxin administration and the length of hospitalization using the Cox proportional hazards test and Kruskal-Wallis test, and an approach to the frequency of adverse events, issues for which no previous national data have been published. Results: Eight of the 44 outbreaks were associated with contaminated commercial foods involving ≤7 cases/outbreak; preserved vegetables were the main source of infection, followed by fish products; early antitoxin administration significantly reduces the hospital stay, and adverse reactions to the antitoxin affect around 3% of treated cases.S

    Water Saving in CSP Plants by a Novel Hydrophilic Anti-Soiling Coating for Solar Reflectors

    In this work, results of the outdoor exposure campaign of a newly developed hydrophilic anti-soiling coating for concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) mirrors are presented. The material was exposed for nearly two years under realistic outdoor conditions and the influence of two different cleaning techniques was evaluated. Mirror samples were analyzed during exposure and their reflectance and cleanliness were measured. The performance of the anti-soiling coated mirror samples was compared to conventional uncoated silvered-glass mirrors. The coatings showed appropriate anti-soiling and easy-to-clean behavior, with a mean cleanliness gain of 1 pp and maximum values under strong soiling conditions of up to over 7 pp. Cleanliness of the coated samples stayed higher throughout the whole campaign before and after cleaning, resulting in lower soiling rate compared to the reference material. Taking into account these values and supposing a threshold for cleaning of 96%, the number of cleaning cycles could be decreased by up to 11%. Finally, the coated material showed negligible degradation, not exceeding the degradation detected for the reference material

    Overdistention Accelerates Electrophysiological Changes in Uterine Muscle Towards Labour in Multiple Gestations

    [EN] Background for the research: Premature birth and its associated complications are one of the biggest global health problems, since there is currently no effective screening method in clinical practice to accurately identify the true Preterm Birth (PTB) from the false threatened ones. Despite the high prevalence of PTB in multiple gestation (MG) women which amounted up to 60%, in the literature there is any work about their uterine myoelectric activities in vivo system. Electrohysterography (EHG) has been emerged as an alternative technique for predicting PTB in single gestation (SG) women. Purpose: The aim of this study was to characterize and compare the uterine myoelectrical activity in vivo system of SG and MG women in regular check-ups, to provide the basis for early detection and prevention of preterm labour in MG. Basic procedures: A prospective observational cohort study was conducted on 31 SG and 18 MG women between the 28(th) and 32(th) WoG who underwent regular check-ups in the Polytechnic and University Hospital La Fe (Valencia, Spain). The 30-minute bipolar recording was filtered in the 0.1-4 Hz bandwidth and downsampled to 20 Hz. Signal analysis was performed in 120-second moving windows with 50% overlap, after removing artefacts by a double- blind expert process. A set of 8 temporal, spectral and non-linear parameters were calculated: root mean square (RMS), kurtosis of the Hilbert envelope (KHE), median frequency (MDF), H/L ratio, and sample entropy (SampEn) and bubble entropy (BubbEn) calculated in the whole bandwidth (WBW) and the fast wave high (FWH). The 10th, 50th and 90th percentiles of all windows analysed were calculated to obtain representative values of the recordings. For each parameter and percentile, statistically significant differences between the SG and MG groups and their statistical power (SP) were analysed to determine both the existence of an effect and substantive significance, respectively. Main findings: In comparison to SG, MG EHG exhibited significant higher impulsiveness and higher predictability than SG which was reflected in the KHE (SP10 = 85.2, p(10) < 0.001) and entropy measures (SampEn FWH: SP50 = 62.0, p(50) = 0.0.016; SP90 = 52.5, p(90) = 0.059. BubbEn FWH: SP50 = 75.2, p(50) < 0.001; SP90 = 60.3, p(90) = 0.002), suggesting an accelerated evolution of uterine electrophysiological condition. In addition, several EHG parameters were found to significantly correlate with foetal weight such as amplitude (RMS: r(90) = 0.311, p(90) = 0.006), signal impulsiveness (KHE: r(10) = 0.311, p(10) = 0.006) and entropy measures (SampEn FWH: r(50) = -0.317, p(50) = 0.005*; r(90) = -0.279, p(90) = 0.013*. BubbEn FWH: r(50) = -0.370, p(50) = 0.001*; r(90) = -0.313, p(90) = 0.005*), suggesting an electromechanical coupling between uterine overdistension and contractile activity in vivo system. Principal conclusions: In comparison to SG women, MG showed higher impulsiveness and predictability in early third gestational trimester, as reflected in KHE, SampEn and BubbEn, respectively. We found similar cell excitability between SG and MG women far from delivery. In addition, we confirmed the relationship between uterine overdistension and surface myoelectric activity, revealing the electromechanical coupling pathway in uterine smooth muscle.; Therefore, contextualized EHG-biomarkers would provide valuable information for early detection of PTB risk, which would allow clinicians better PTB management through personalised therapeutic interventions. The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) questionnaire was used to assess EC in a competency-based curriculum in the physical therapy program analyzing the mean total, subscale, and item scores, as well as response rates.     Hypothalamic AMPK-ER Stress-JNK1 Axis Mediates the Central Actions of Thyroid Hormones on Energy Balance

    Thyroid hormones (THs) act in the brain to modulate energy balance. We show that central triiodothyronine (T3) regulates de novo lipogenesis in liver and lipid oxidation in brown adipose tissue (BAT) through the parasympathetic (PSNS) and sympathetic nervous system (SNS), respectively. Central T3 promotes hepatic lipogenesis with parallel stimulation of the thermogenic program in BAT. The action of T3 depends on AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)-induced regulation of two signaling pathways in the ventromedial nucleus of the hypothalamus (VMH): decreased ceramide-induced endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stress, which promotes BAT thermogenesis, and increased c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) activation, which controls hepatic lipid metabolism. Of note, ablation of AMPK alpha 1 in steroidogenic factor 1 (SF1) neurons of the VMH fully recapitulated the effect of central T3, pointing to this population in mediating the effect of central THs on metabolism.
