Ethnography in gender violence from cultural educational spaces. Reflection to decolonize feminism
To deal with gender violence in formal and informal educational facilities, strategies are required to identify violences and their symbols, to be close to a more anthropological view agreeing with cultural and social convergences. A unique characterization of the violence that makes visible different behaviors and gives conexion with an independent public recognition of private and public, household and community integrity is rejected. The complexity of the symbols that exist in many companies is accentuated, in this case experiences that have worked from a reflexive ethnography in multicultural and intercultural spaces confirm a need to incorporate a decolonization understanding of gender violence
[Abstract] The aim of this study was to analyze lifelong learning (LLL) and its relationship with the educational approach of the personal learning environment (PLE). In the last year students do various degrees at a university in Costa Rica. Method. Using a non-experimental, transactional design, we applied a probabilistic questionnaire where the representative sample was (n=1187). Results. The results show that the LLL scale used is a valid, and the tool used to explore the topic is reliable. In addition, we saw a moderate inclination towards lifelong learning in the students, mainly about all the application capability of new knowings and skills in practical surroundings, and how they relate to the new learning with previous acquisitions. Discussion. It is observed a significant relationship among this training approach and personal learning environments, characterized by the use of the potential offered by technological tools. It has been found significant differences by gender, knowledge area, academic performance, and internet connection hours. Among the conclusions, it is pointed out that the universities must foster the linked competences with LLL to boost the PLE of the learners and propitiate its optimum social and professional insertion along their vital route.[Resumen] El objetivo de este estudio es analizar el aprendizaje a lo largo de la vida (LLL) y su relación con el enfoque pedagógico de entorno personal de aprendizaje de los estudiantes de último año de diferentes carreras de una universidad costarricense. Método. Utilizando un diseño no experimental y transaccional, se aplica un cuestionario a una muestra probabilística y representativa (n=1187). Resultados. An ethnographic process at school: teacher’s profiles. Participatory Action Research at Practicum
From antrohropology we emphasize this particular ethnographic process developed in multigrade schools showing the contrast with a different experience implemented at an urban school from a deprived area in Murcia. From that point the aim is to find defined teacher profiles whose contributions affect positively the teacher´s training, considering the great diversity of teaching realities which should be analized in nursery and primary school education. Through this ethnographical process of reflection as well as the Participatory Action Research at Practicum, we experienced the need of rethinking the pegagogical contents gained by the teachers at an academical training
Effect of mycoviruses on the virulence of Fusarium circinatum and laccase activity
Producción CientíficaLaccase enzymes (benzenediol: oxygen oxidoreductase, EC 1.10.3.2) play a major role in the degradation of phenolic compounds such as lignin. They are common in fungi and have been suggested to participate in host colonization by pathogenic fungi. Putative mycoviruses have recently been isolated from the causal agent of pine pitch canker disease, Fusarium circinatum Nirenberg & O'Donell. In this study, the effects of single and double mycoviral infections on laccase activity, growth rate and pathogenicity were investigated in fourteen F. circinatum strains. Extracellular laccase activity was analyzed by the Bavendamm test, image processing and a spectrophotometric method. Mycelial growth, in vivo pathogenicity and seedling survival probability were also determined in Monterrey pine (Pinus radiata D. Don) seedlings. The findings showed that (i) mycelial growth of isolates from the same fungal population was homogeneous, (ii) the presence of mycovirus appears to increase the virulence of fungal isolates, (iii) co-infection (with two mycoviruses) caused cryptic effects in fungal isolates, and (iv) laccases embody a possible auxiliary tool in fungal infection. The prospects for biocontrol, the adaptive role of F. circinatum mycoviruses and the importance of laccase enzymes in host colonization are discussed.Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (Project AGL2012-39912

Among optoelectronic manipulation platforms, photovoltaic optoelectronic tweezers (PVOTs) are an emergent technique that are particularly successful at producing permanent nanoparticle microstructures. New strategies to enhance the capabilities of PVOT, based on real-time operation, are investigated. This optoelectronic platform uses z-cut LiNbO3:Fe substrates under excitation by a Gaussian light beam. Unexpected results show that during illumination, metallic particles previously deposited on the substrate are ejected from the light spot region. This behavior differs from the trapping phenomenon observed in previous work on PVOT operation, using a sequential method in which illumination is prior to particle manipulation. To discuss the results, a novel mechanism of charge exchange between particles and the ferroelectric substrate is proposed. Applications of this repulsion behavior are investigated. On the one hand, either particle repulsion or trapping in the illuminated region can be obtained by simply light switching on/off. On the other hand, by moving the light spot, different kinds of arbitrarily shaped tracks along the light path, either empty or filled with particles, are obtained. The results demonstrate new key capabilities of PVOT, such as pattern drawing, erasure, and reconfigurationFinancial support from Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades of Spain (MAT2014-57704-C3, MAT2017-83951-R) is gratefully acknowledge
Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome : open bite evolution after tongue reduction
Macroglossia causes functional deficits such as airway obstruction, drooling, phonation difficulties, and leads to protrusion of dentoalveolar structures resulting in an anterior open bite and a prognathic mandibular appearance. Macroglossia is present in the majority of patients with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome (BWS) and surgical treatment may be indicated. A retrospective review was conducted including BWS patients who underwent surgical tongue reduction between 2000 and 2015 at the Hospital Universitario La Paz, Madrid. Out of 16 patients with BWS, surgery was performed in 11 cases. Tongue protrusion with open bite was the main indication for surgical treatment. Reduction glossectomy was performed using the keyhole technique. We analysed the relationship between age at surgery and evolution of open bite. Complications were minimal and satisfactory outcomes were observed with a decrease in anterior open bite. In this study we have observed that surgical treatment in patients with BWS and open bite accompanied by macroglossia seems to provide positive results with a satisfactory outcome in dentoskeletal alterations
Electrophoretic versus dielectrophoretic nanoparticle patterning using optoelectronic tweezers
Currently, there is increasing interest from many scientific disciplines in the development of systems that are able to sort and arrange many objects in parallel at the nano-and micrometric scale. Among others, photovoltaic tweezers (PVT) are an optoelectronic technique for trapping and patterning nano-and micro-objects in accordance with an arbitrary light profile. In this work, the differential features of electro-and dielectrophoretic (EP and DEP) nanoparticle (NP) patterning using PVT are deeply investigated. The study is carried out through theory and experiments. The developed theory extends the applicability of a previously reported model to be able to compute EP potentials and to obtain numerical values for the EP and DEP potential energies. Two-dimensional patterns of charged and neutral aluminum NPs are fabricated on top of Fe:LiNbO3 crystals, and different light distributions and other experimental parameters (crystal thickness and NP concentration) are compared. Patterns of charged and neutral NPs show remarkable differences in both particle density distribution and fidelity to the original light profile. The observed different features between EP and DEP trapping are satisfactorily explained by the theoretical analysis. The results provide routes for the optimization of the NP arrangements for both regimes. This work is supported by the Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad under Grant No. MAT201457704-C3. Preliminary apatite-fission track geochronology of the Montaña Blanca-Milocho, alkaline pluton, (NW Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain)
The mafic-ultramafic, alkaline Montana Blanca-Milocho pluton, which is part o f the northernmost outcrop of the Basal Complex of the island of Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, is spatially associated to the Jablitos alkaline-carbonatitic complex. Alkaline clinopyroxenites occurring in the periphery o f both intrusive bodies bear strong petrographic, mineralogical and geochemical similarities. However, the study o f a possible genetic relationship between them was so far hindered by the complete absence of geoclironological data. High apatite abundances in these rocks has allowed the application o f the fission track techniques as a geoclironological tool. Nevertheless, in samples were perovskite occurs the lack o f U in apatite, the K-Ar method had to be used. The 25 and 29 Ma fission tracks central ages obtained are well in agreement with theexpected emplacement age o f these shallow intrusive rocks, and also with published and new K-Ar ages. Thus, a genetic relationship between these ultramafic alkaline clinopyroxenites is here proposed
