Transverse momentum resummation in soft-collinear effective theory

We present a universal formalism for transverse momentum resummation in the view of soft-collinear effective theory (SCET), and establish the relation between our SCET formula and the well known Collins-Soper-Sterman's pQCD formula at the next-to-leading logarithmic order (NLLO). We also briefly discuss the reformulation of joint resummation in SCET.Comment: 23 pages, 7 figures; version to appear in Phys. Rev.

    Dust in the Local Group

How dust absorbs and scatters starlight as a function of wavelength (known as the interstellar extinction curve) is crucial for correcting for the effects of dust extinction in inferring the true luminosity and colors of reddened astrophysical objects. Together with the extinction spectral features, the extinction curve contains important information about the dust size distribution and composition. This review summarizes our current knowledge of the dust extinction of the Milky Way, three Local Group galaxies (i.e., the Small and Large Magellanic Clouds, and M31), and galaxies beyond the Local Group.Comment: 21 pages, 11 figures; invited review article published in "LESSONS FROM THE LOCAL GROUP -- A Conference in Honour of David Block and Bruce Elmegreen" eds. Current quark mass and g-2 of muon and ee-->\pi\pi

    Get PDF
Based on an effective chiral theory of mesons the dependences of ρω\rho-\omega mixing and the vertex ωππ\omega\pi\pi on mdmum_d-m_u are found. The form factor of pion agrees with data in both space- and time-like regions. CVC is satisfied. The values of g-2 of muon from ππ\pi\pi channel are calculated in the range of q2<1.32GeV2q^2<1.3^2 GeV^2.Comment: 14 pages anf three figures 14 pages and three figure
