PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF HYDROFLUOROALKANES

No full text
Process for the preparation of hydro(halo)fluoroalkanes by direct fluorination in liquid phase with elemental fluorine at low temperature (under 0 DEG C.) of the corresponding hydro(halo)=alkenes

Correlation between yield and operating conditions in the electrochemical fluorination of tripropylamine

No full text
Electrochemical fluorination of tripropylamine in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride was studied in order to verify the correlation between the operating conditions and the yield of the corresponding perfluoroamine. The parameters tested were: temperature, voltage, initial concentration of amine in the bath, constant concentration of amine in the bath and stirring effect. Experimental data show that temperature is the parameter exerting the most remarkable influence over perfluoroamine yield and by-products formation

Synthesis of some fluoro-hydrocarbons and their performance as surface agents in a non-aqueous medium

No full text
Some fluoro-hydrocarbons having the typical structure RF-RH can be prepared by addition of perfluoroalkyl iodides (RFI) to olefins (CH2CHR′H) by the method suggested by N.O. Brace [1] : RFI + CH2ChRH → RFCH2CHI-R′H → RFCH2CH2R′H Starting from the linear perfluoroalkyl iodides C6F13I and C8F17I, and prepared: C6F13C17, C6F13C12H25, C6F13C16H33, C8F17C12H25 and C8F17C16H33. These compounds were tested in a liquid as surface agents; measurements of the surface tension were carried out at various concentrations and temperatures (20 \ub0C, 30 \ub0C and 50 \ub0C). Some of the compounds tested i.e., C6F13C16H33) also at the highest temperature shown a poor solubility in the parraffin used. A remarkable drop of the surface tension values was shown by C8F17H33 at 20 \ub0C. Experimental data and surface tension vs concentration diagrams are reported

Process for the preparation of halobenzoic acids

No full text
A new process for the preparation of halobenzoic acids and in particular fluorobenzoic acids is based on reaction between the corresponding halobenzyl chlorides and sodium hypochlorite. The new process makes it possible to obtain halobenzoic acids in a single stage reaction using cheap and/or easily obtained reagent
