Letter from the Editor
About a year ago when I was embarking on my editorial duties for the Association for the Study of Dreams I was uncertain whether I would continue with Lucidity Letter beyond 1984. I have now put out two issues of the ASD Newsletter and realize that there is still a need to keep a written network open for those interested in dream lucidity. Thus, I have decided to continue with Lucidity Letter
Letter from the Editor
Of all the issues of Lucidity LetterI had the least to do with putting this one out! Aware of the last minute pressures I would be facing mounting the Lucidity Associations Higher States of Consciousness conference in Chicago, readers, friends, and colleagues came to my rescue. As in past issues, Canadians Kathy Belicki and her secretary Joanne Gazzola edited and typeset, respectively, about half of this issue. Two women new to our team really made a difference between working hard on the issue and gliding home with it. Shelagh Robinson, from Edmonton, volunteered many hours to typesetting and list maintenance. The work that will have the greatest impact on the reader comes from that of Elinor Gebremedhin of Philadelphia. Her professional copy editing of the entire issue has ended the many small errors which have plagued Lucidity Letter. A heartfelt thanks to all four women for making this the easiest Lucidity Letterever to produce
Letter from Jayne Gackenbach, Past Lucidity Letter Editor
It is with great pleasure that I introduce this 10th year commemorative issue of Lucidity Letter. Although I did not edit it, I did edit it! This issue is made up solely of articles selected from the nine volumes for which I was Senior Editor. These were chosen by Stephen LaBerge, Harry Hunt and myself in conjunction with our new Senior Editor, Elinor Gebremedhin

As I sit looking out over Edmonton's snow-covered river valley, after having just caught up on the latest war news, the peace of my view stands in stark contrast to the realities of today's world. So too the fulfillment I have felt the last 10 years editing Lucidity Letter stands in stark contrast to the financial realities of a very small organization trying to keep a very small journal on a very esoteric topic alive. A topic which I deeply believe is critical to our growth as individuals and ultimately as a civilization. As one of the original consciousness researchers, R. Keith Wallace, recently wrote: "The process of growing to the highest state of consciousness -traditionally known as 'enlightenment' -is referred to as a process of becoming more and more fully awake inside, awake to the inner dynamics of consciousness." I believe that Lucidity Letter has played, and hopefully will continue to play, a key role in supporting this perspective
