SOIL EROSION CAUSES SILTATION OF RESERVOIRS BUILT AT THE COST OF CRORES OF RUPEES.     Not AvailableTHE STUDY BRINGS OUT THAT ANNUAL PRECIPITATION OF DOON VALLEY VARIES FROM 1500-2000 MM OF WHICH 75-80% IS RECEIVED FROM MID JUNE TO MID SEPTEMBER ( MAIN GROWING SEASON FOR KHARIF CROPS). THE PERIOD FROM MID SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER IS USUALLY DRY AND MOISTURE DEFICIENT AT THE SOWING TIME OF BARLEY CROP. TO OVERCOME THIS, IT IS POSSIBLE TO COLLECT ABOUT 20% OF THE RAINFALL INTO THE FARM POND WHICH OTHERWISE GOES AS WASTE. THIS STORED WATER COULD BE USED TO SUPPLEMENT THE WINTER RAINFALL OF 15CM.
