    Effective resistance management with soybean rust: modes of action used and management strategies.

    Asian soybean rust is a serious disease caused by Phakopsora pachyrhizi. Several strategies have been adopted in Brazil to manage this disease including: (i) the host-free period, a period of 60 to 90 days from July to September during which farmers are restricted from planting soybean; (ii) growers are advised to plant early maturing group cultivars in the beginning of the season and reduce the sowing window to help the host evade the pathogen; (iii) cultivars with Rpp genes are available and are recommended with fungicide; and (iv) fungicides applied preventively or in the first symptoms. More than 100 different fungicidal products are currently labeled for managing rust in Brazil. A weaker efficacy of straight triazoles compounds was observed from 2006/07. Since 2009, only premix of DMI-QoI fungicides have been recommended to control rust. In 2013 the first mixture with SDHI compound was labeled for soybean rust

    Preliminary reflections on the activity theory and the development of educational software

    Se presenta una síntesis de la teoría de la actividad, para establecer el marco de referencia y sus posibles aportes en la ingeniería del software educativo. El trabajo se compone de cinco secciones. La primera, expone los fundamentos que sustentan el trabajo. La segunda resume consideraciones de la teoría de la actividad y de la ingeniería del software, enfocándose en el software educativo. En la tercera, la metodología aplicada para elaborar el trabajo. En la cuarta se exponen las aproximaciones propuestas, atendiendo al contexto socio cultural y la dialéctica hegeliana. Finalmente, se mencionan las conclusiones y futuras líneas de trabajo.The paper presents a synthesis of activity theory, considering the viewpoints from different authors. It attempts to set the framework and the potential contributions of that theory in software engineering education. This paper is composed of five sections which describe foundations of the work; summarize aspects of activity theory and software engineering as well as applied methodology; present the first approaches proposed to link the activity theory and the development of educational software, and finally mention the conclusions and future work lines

    A aplicação de fungicidas na folhagem da soja continua sendo a forma mais efetiva de controle de ferrugem, causada por Phakopsora pachyrhizi. O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar a eficiência de fungicidas no controle de ferrugem em soja em Passo Fundo (RS), na safra 2010/11. O rendimento de grãos e o peso de 1000 grãos foram obtidos. A severidade variou entre 12% (com picoxistrobina + tebuconazol, Horos) e 61% (testemunha). O maior rendimento foi de 3.911,09 kg/ha, e o menor foi de 2.170,21 kg/ha, representando diferença de 44,5%. Os tratamentos com piraclostrobina + epoxiconazol (Envoy), azoxistrobina Nortox + tebuconazol (NTX 3900), azoxistrobina + tebuconazol (Azimut) e picoxistrobina + tebuconazol (Horos) apresentaram maior rendimento de grãos. Oxicarboxim (Plantvax 750 WP) e tebuconazol (Folicur) não diferiram da testemunha. O maior peso de 1000 grãos foi de 163,2 g com azoxistrobina + tetraconazol (ISB021F), embora não diferindo de trifloxistrobina + protioconazol (Fox), piraclostrobina + metconazol (BAS 556 01F), piraclostrobina + epoxiconazol (Opera), azoxistrobina + ciproconazol (Priori Xtra) e ciproconazol (Alto 100). Misturas de triazóis e estrobilurinas, ou somente estrobilurina, foram efetivas no controle de ferrugem asiática da soja em Passo Fundo, na safra 2010/11
