The Hoyle State in Relativistic 12{}^{12}C Dissociation

Production of α\alpha-particle triples in the Hoyle state (HS) in dissociation of 12{}^{12}C nuclei at 3.65 and 0.42 AA GeV in nuclear track emulsion is revealed by the invariant mass approach. Contribution of the HS to the dissociation 12{}^{12}C \to 3α\alpha is (11 ±\pm 3) \%. Reanalysis of data on coherent dissociation 16{}^{16}O \to 4α\alpha at 3.65 AA GeV is revealed the HS contribution of (22 ±\pm 2) \%.Comment: Submitted to Proceedings of XXII International Conference on Few-Body Problems in Physics (FB22), 9 - 13 July, 2018, Caen, Franc

Irradiation of Nuclear Track Emulsions with Thermal Neutrons, Heavy Ions, and Muons

Exposures of test samples of nuclear track emulsion were analyzed. Angular and energy correlations of products originating from the thermal-neutron-induced reaction nth+10_{th} + ^{10}B 7\rightarrow ^{7}Li +(γ)+α+ (\gamma) + \alpha were studied in nuclear tack emulsions enriched in boron. Nuclear track emulsions were also irradiated with 86^{86}Kr+17^{+17} and 132^{132}Xe+26^{+26} of energy about 1.2 MeV per nucleon. Measurements of ranges of heavy ions in nuclear track emulsions made it possible to determine their energies on the basis of the SRIM model. The formation of high-multiplicity nuclear stars was observed upon irradiating nuclear track emulsions with ultrarelativistic muons. Kinematical features studied in this exposure of nuclear track emulsions for events of the muon-induced splitting of carbon nuclei to three alpha particles are indicative of the nuclear-diffraction interaction mechanism.Comment: Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2015. 7 pages, 9 figure

Correlations of alpha-particles in splitting of C-12 nuclei by neutrons of energy of 14.1 MeV

Correlations of α\alpha-particles are studied on statistics of 400 events of splitting 12^{12}C \rightarrow 3α\alpha in nuclear track emulsion exposed to 14.1MeV14.1 MeV neutrons. The ranges and emission angles of the α\alpha-particles are measured. Distributions over energy of α\alpha-particle pairs and triples are obtained.Comment: Author translation of report in Yadernaya Fizika (Physics of Atomic Nuclei), vol. 76, additional issue (Russian), pp. 88-91 (2013); Proceedings of the Conference on Fundamental interactions (MEPHI, Moscow, February 2013

Charge Topology of the Coherent Dissociation of Relativistic C-11 and N-12 Nuclei

The charge topology of coherent-dissociation events is presented for 11^{11}C and 12^{12}N nuclei of energy 1.2~\textit{A}~GeV per nucleon bombarding nuclear track emulsions. This topology is compared with respective data for 7^{7}Be, 8,10^{8,10}B, 9,10^{9,10}C and 14^{14}N nuclei.Comment: Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2015. 5 pages, 2 figure

    Get PDF
The results of investigations of the dissociation of a 14^{14}N nucleus of momentum 2.86~A~GeV/c in photo-emulsion are presented. The main characteristics of these reactions, that is the cross sections for various fragmentation channels, are given. The fragmentation was analyzed by means of an invariant approach. The momentum and correlation characteristics of α\alpha particles for the 14^{14}N3α\to3\alpha+X channel in the laboratory system and the rest systems of 3α\alpha particles were considered. The results obtained for the 14^{14}N nucleus are compared with similar data for the 12^{12}C and 16^{16}O nuclei.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures, 2 tables, conference: Conference on Physics of Fundamental Interactions, Moscow, Russia, 5-9 Dec 2005 (Author's translation

Irradiation of nuclear emulsions in relativistic beams of He-6 and H-3 nuclei

Using a Li-6 nucleus beam extracted from the JINR Synchrophasotron at momentum 2.67A GeV/c a secondary beam was produced with a composition of 1% of He-6 and 99% of H-3 nuclei. Preliminary results on the features of nucleus-nucleus interactions of He-6 nuclei and charge exchange (CE) of H-3 nucleus are presented. Interactions of He-6 nucleus external neutrons with emulsion nuclei as well as a coherent stripping of He-6 nucleus external neutrons are observed. A mean range of H-3 nuclei to inelastic interactions in the BR-2 type emulsion is equal to 23.±\pm3.0 cm. A mean range in emulsion for a nuclear CE process H-3 to He-3 is equal to 40±\pm16 m. The CE cross-sections with a charged meson production or without it are approximately equal. The CE cross-section with excitation of a target nucleus exceeds the one without excitation. The mean transverse momentum of He-3 nuclei is equal to 0.16±\pm0.03 GeV/c.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figure

Clustering in relativistic dissociation of 9^9be, 9^9c, 10^{10}c and 12^{12}n nuclei

The dissociation features in nuclear track emulsion of 9^9Be, 9,10^{9,10}C, and 12^{12}N nuclei of 1.2 A GeV energy are presented. The data presented for the nucleus 9^9Be can be considered as evidence that there is a core in its structure in the form of 0+^+ and 2+^+ states of the 8^8Be nucleus having roughly equal weights. Events of coherent dissociation 9^9C33\rightarrow 3^3He associated with the rearrangement of the nucleons outside the α\alpha-clustering are identified. A pattern of the charge fragment topology in the dissociation of 10^{10}C and 12^{12}N nuclei is obtained for the first time. Contribution of the unbound nucleus decays to the cascade process 10^{10}C9\rightarrow ^9B8\rightarrow ^8Be is identified

Studies of light nicleus clustering in relativistic multifragmentation processes

We give an overview of results and prospects of nuclear clustering studies on the grounds of the observations of interactions of light stable and radioactive nuclei with an initial energy above 1 A GeV in nuclear emulsions. Thank to the best spatial resolution and the full solid angle acceptance provided by nuclear emulsions, such an approach allows one to obtain unique and evident observations reecting cluster-like features in light nuclear structures. New results on dissociation of 7^7Be in very peripheral interactions with emulsion nuclei are presented. The importance of this research for the physics of few body nuclear systems and the related problems of nucleosynthesis is noted. The paper is illustrated with characteristic images obtained by means of a microscope equipped with a CCD camera. The discussed explorations are provided with the beams of the Synchrophasotron and Nuclotron of JINR, Dubna. Future investigations are suggested to be carried out in relativistic beams of He, Be, B, C, and N isotopes.Comment: 10 pages, 15 figure

Dissociation of C-10 Nuclei in a Track Nuclear Emulsion at an Energy of 1.2 GeV per Nucleon

The charge topology in the fragmentation of 10^{10}C nuclei in a track nuclear emulsion at an energy of 1.2 GeV per nucleon is studied. In the coherent dissociation of 10^{10}C nuclei, about 82% of events are associated with the channel 10^{10}C \rightarrow 2α+\alpha + 2\emph{p}. The angular distributions and correlations of product fragments are presented for this channel. It is found that among 10^{10}C \rightarrow 2α+\alpha + 2\emph{p} events, about 30% are associated with the process in which dissociation through the ground state of the unstable 9^9Beg.s._{g.s.} nucleus is followed by 8^8Beg.s.+_{g.s.} + \emph{p} decays.Comment: ISSN 1063-7788, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2013. 6 pages, 11 figure
