Dust-acoustic waves and stability in the permeating dusty plasma: II. Power-law distributions
The dust-acoustic waves and their stability driven by a flowing dusty plasma
when it cross through a static (target) dusty plasma (the so-called permeating
dusty plasma) are investigated when the components of the dusty plasma obey the
power-law q-distributions in nonextensive statistics. The frequency, the growth
rate and the stability condition of the dust-acoustic waves are derived under
this physical situation, which express the effects of the nonextensivity as
well as the flowing dusty plasma velocity on the dust-acoustic waves in this
dusty plasma. The numerical results illustrate some new characteristics of the
dust-acoustic waves, which are different from those in the permeating dusty
plasma when the plasma components are the Maxwellian distribution. In addition,
we show that the flowing dusty plasma velocity has a significant effect on the
dust-acoustic waves in the permeating dusty plasma with the power-law
q-distribution.Comment: 20 pages, 10 figures, 41 reference
Improved cosmological constraints on the curvature and equation of state of dark energy
We apply the Constitution compilation of 397 supernova Ia, the baryon
acoustic oscillation measurements including the parameter, the distance
ratio and the radial data, the five-year Wilkinson microwave anisotropy probe
and the Hubble parameter data to study the geometry of the universe and the
property of dark energy by using the popular Chevallier-Polarski-Linder and
Jassal-Bagla-Padmanabhan parameterizations. We compare the simple
method of joined contour estimation and the Monte Carlo Markov chain method,
and find that it is necessary to make the marginalized analysis on the error
estimation. The probabilities of and in the
Chevallier-Polarski-Linder model are skew distributions, and the marginalized
errors are ,
, , and
. For the Jassal-Bagla-Padmanabhan model, the
marginalized errors are ,
, , and
. The equation of state parameter of dark energy
is negative in the redshift range at more than level.
The flat CDM model is consistent with the current observational data
at the level.Comment: 10 figures, 12 pages, Classical and Quantum Gravity in press; v2 to

Temperature driven structural phase transition for trapped ions and its experimental detection
A Wigner crystal formed with trapped ion can undergo structural phase
transition, which is determined only by the mechanical conditions on a
classical level. Instead of this classical result, we show that through
consideration of quantum and thermal fluctuation, a structural phase transition
can be solely driven by change of the system's temperature. We determine a
finite-temperature phase diagram for trapped ions using the renormalization
group method and the path integral formalism, and propose an experimental
scheme to observe the predicted temperature-driven structural phase transition,
which is well within the reach of the current ion trap technology.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
Control of Dynamical Localization
Control over the quantum dynamics of chaotic kicked rotor systems is
demonstrated. Specifically, control over a number of quantum coherent phenomena
is achieved by a simple modification of the kicking field. These include the
enhancement of the dynamical localization length, the introduction of classical
anomalous diffusion assisted control for systems far from the semiclassical
regime, and the observation of a variety of strongly nonexponential lineshapes
for dynamical localization. The results provide excellent examples of
controlled quantum dynamics in a system that is classically chaotic and offer
new opportunities to explore quantum fluctuations and correlations in quantum
chaos.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures, to appear in Physical Review
Non-existence of Extended Holographic Dark Energy with Hubble Horizon
The extended holographic dark energy model with the Hubble horizon as the
infrared cutoff avoids the problem of the circular reasoning of the holographic
dark energy model. We show that the infrared cutoff of the extended holographic
dark energy model cannot be the Hubble horizon provided that the Brans-Dicke
parameter satisfies the experimental constraint , and
this is proved as a no-go theorem. The no-go theorem also applies to the case
in which the dark matter interacts with the dark energy.Comment: 12 pages with revtex, 4 figures, v2: minor corrections to match the

Superconductivity and Phase Diagram in (LiFe)OHFeSeS
A series of (LiFe)OHFeSeS (0 x 1)
samples were successfully synthesized via hydrothermal reaction method and the
phase diagram is established. Magnetic susceptibility suggests that an
antiferromagnetism arising from (LiFe)OH layers coexists with
superconductivity, and the antiferromagnetic transition temperature nearly
remains constant for various S doping levels. In addition, the lattice
parameters of the both a and c axes decrease and the superconducting transition
temperature T is gradually suppressed with the substitution of S for Se,
and eventually superconductivity vanishes at = 0.90. The decrease of T
could be attributed to the effect of chemical pressure induced by the smaller
ionic size of S relative to that of Se, being consistent with the effect of
hydrostatic pressure on (LiFe)OHFeSe. But the detailed
investigation on the relationships between and the crystallographic
facts suggests a very different dependence of on anion height from
the Fe2 layer or -Fe2- angle from those in FeAs-based superconductors.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figure
Coherent Manipulation of Quantum Delta-kicked Dynamics: Faster-than-classical Anomalous Diffusion
Large transporting regular islands are found in the classical phase space of
a modified kicked rotor system in which the kicking potential is reversed after
every two kicks. The corresponding quantum system, for a variety of system
parameters and over long time scales, is shown to display energy absorption
that is significantly faster than that associated with the underlying classical
anomalous diffusion. The results are of interest to both areas of quantum chaos
and quantum control.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, to appear in Physical Review
