    Strange-Beauty Meson Production at ppˉp\bar p Colliders

The production rates and transverse momentum distributions of the strange-beauty mesons BsB_s and Bs∗B_s^* at ppˉp\bar p colliders are calculated assuming fragmentation is the dominant process. Results are given for the Tevatron in the large transverse momentum region, where fragmentation is expected to be most important.Comment: Minor changes in the discussion section. Search for the intermediate Mass Higgs Signal at TeV eγe\gamma colliders

The intermediate mass Higgs (IMH) can be abundantly produced through the process e−γ→W−Hνe^-\gamma \rightarrow W^-H\nu at TeV e−γe^-\gamma colliders, which are realized by the laser back-scattering method. We search for the signature of W−H→(jj)(bbˉ)W^-H \rightarrow (jj)(b\bar b) plus missing transverse momentum, with and without considering the bb-tagging. We also analyse all the potential backgrounds from e−γ→W−Zν, W−W+e−, ZZe−, tˉbνe^-\gamma \rightarrow W^-Z\nu,\,W^-W^+e^-,\,ZZe^-,\, \bar t b\nu and ttˉe−t\bar t e^-. With our selective acceptance cuts these backgrounds are reduced to a manageable level. We find that for the entire intermediate mass range 60 -- 150~GeV the Higgs discovery should be viable. We also present detail formulas for the helicity amplitudes of these processes.Comment: Latex(Revtex), 30 pages, 8 figures in postscript format (uuencoded), NUHEP-TH-93-

Persistent currents in diffusive metallic cavities: Large values and anomalous scaling with disorder

The effect of disorder on confined metallic cavities with an Aharonov-Bohm flux line is addressed. We find that, even deep in the diffusive regime, large values of persistent currents may arise for a wide variety of geometries. We present numerical results supporting an anomalous scaling law of the average typical current with the strength of disorder ww, ∼w−γ \sim w^{- \gamma} with γ<2\gamma < 2. This is contrasted with previously reported results obtained for cylindrical samples where a scaling ∼w−2 \sim w^{-2} has been found. Possible links to, up to date, unexplained experimental data are finally discussed.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

The WW Boson Loop Background to H -> ZZ at Photon-photon Colliders

We have performed a complete one-loop calculation of γγ→ZZ\gamma \gamma \rightarrow ZZ in the Standard Model, including both gauge bosons and fermions in the loop. We confirm the large irreducible continuum background from the WW-boson loop found by Jikia. We have included the photon-photon luminosity, and find that the continuum background of transverse ZZ boson pairs prohibits finding a heavy Higgs with mass \gtap 350 GeV in this decay mode.Comment: 16 pages + 4 PS figures included (uuencoded), MAD/PH/77

Higgs production in association with top quark pair at e+e- colliders in theories of higher dimensional gravity

The models of large extra compact dimensions, as suggested by Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali, predict exciting phenomenological consequences with gravitational interactions becoming strong at the TeV scale. Such theories can be tested at the existing and future colliders. In this paper, we study the contribution of virtual Kaluza-Klein excitations in the process e+e−→ttˉHe^+e^- \to t \bar t H at future linear collider (NLC). We find that the virtual exchange KK gravitons can modify the cross-section σ(e+e−→ttˉH)\sigma(e^+e^- \to t \bar t H) significantly from its Standard Model value and will allow the effective string scale to be probed up to 7.9 TeV.Comment: 10 pages, Latex, 4 postscript figure

Perturbative QCD Fragmentation Functions for Production of P-wave Mesons with Charm and Beauty

We calculate the leading order QCD fragmentation functions for the production of PP-wave charmed beauty mesons. Long-distance effects are factored into two nonperturbative parameters: the derivative of the radial wavefunction at the origin and a second parameter related to the probability for a (bˉc)(\bar b c) heavy quark pair that is produced in a color-octet SS-wave state to form a color-singlet PP-wave bound state. The four 2P2P states and those 3P3P states which lie below the BDBD flavor threshold eventually all decay into the 1S1S ground state BcB_c through hadronic cascades or by emitting photons. The total fragmentation probabilities for production of the 1S1S ground state BcB_c from the cascades of the 2P2P and 3P3P states are about 1.7×10−41.7 \times 10^{-4} and 2.3×10−42.3 \times 10^{-4} respectively. Thus the direct production of the PP-wave states via fragmentation may account for a significant fraction of the inclusive production rate of the BcB_c at large transverse momentum in high energy colliders. Our analytic results for the PP-wave fragmentation functions disagree with those obtained earlier in the literature.Comment: 31 pages, Latex file, 1 figure (postscript file appended at the end
