    Higgs Sector of the Left-Right Model with Explicit CP Violation

    We explore the Higgs sector of the Minimal Left-Right (LR) Model based on the gauge group SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x U(1)_{B-L} with explicit CP violation in the Higgs potential. Since flavour-changing neutral current experiments and the small scale of neutrino masses both place stringent constraints on the Higgs potential, we seek to determine whether minima of the Higgs potential exist that are consistent with current experimental bounds. We focus on the case in which the right-handed symmetry-breaking scale is only ``moderately'' large, of order 15-50 TeV. Unlike the case in which the Higgs potential is CP-invariant, the CP noninvariant case does yield viable scenarios, although these require a small amount of fine-tuning. We consider a LR model supplemented by an additional U(1) horizontal symmetry, which results in a Higgs sector consistent with current experimental constraints and a realistic spectrum of neutrino masses.Comment: 20 pages, 2 figure

    Gauge model at finite temperature with massive quarks and at finite density on anisotropic lattice

    Critical properties of QCD and the chiral condensate at finite density are analytically studied on an anisotropic lattice in the approximation SU(N) \simeq Z(N).     Novel mechanism for temperature-independent transitions in flexible molecules: role of thermodynamic fluctuations

    Novel physical mechanism is proposed for explanation of temperature-independent transition reactions in molecular systems. The mechanism becomes effective in the case of conformation transitions between quasi-isoenergetic molecular states. It is shown that at room temperatures, stochastic broadening of molecular energy levels predominates the energy of low frequency vibrations accompanying the transition. This leads to a cancellation of temperature dependence in the stochastically averaged rate constants. As an example, physical interpretation of temperature-independent onset of P2X_3 receptor desensitization in neuronal membranes is provided.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

    The Schwarzschild black hole as a point particle

    The description of a point mass in general relativity (GR) is given in the framework of the field formulation of GR where all the dynamical fields, including the gravitational field, are considered in a fixed background spacetime. With the use of stationary (not static) coordinates non-singular at the horizon, the Schwarzschild solution is presented as a point-like field configuration in a whole background Minkowski space. The requirement of a stable η\eta-causality stated recently in [J.B.Pitts and W.C.Schieve, Found.
