Polarization observables in the longitudinal basis for pseudo-scalar meson photoproduction using a density matrix approach
The complete expression for the intensity in pseudo-scalar meson
photoproduction with a polarized beam, target, and recoil baryon is derived
using a density matrix approach that offers great economy of notation. A
Cartesian basis with spins for all particles quantized along a single
direction, the longitudinal beam direction, is used for consistency and clarity
in interpretation. A single spin-quantization axis for all particles enables
the amplitudes to be written in a manifestly covariant fashion with simple
relations to those of the well-known CGLN formalism. Possible sign
discrepancies between theoretical amplitude-level expressions and
experimentally measurable intensity profiles are dealt with carefully. Our
motivation is to provide a coherent framework for coupled-channel partial-wave
analysis of several meson photoproduction reactions, incorporating recently
published and forthcoming polarization data from Jefferson Lab.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figure
Introduction
In the library profession, and in the world as a whole, the experiences of trans and gender diverse people often go unnoticed, hidden, and ignored. But we are here. Trans and Gender Diverse Voices in Libraries is entirely written and edited by trans and gender diverse people involved in the field: its fifty-seven authors include workers from academic and public libraries, special collections and archives, and more; LIS students; and a few people who have left the library profession completely.
This book is not intended to be the definitive guide to trans and gender diverse experiences in libraries, but instead to start the conversation. It is our hope that this book will help trans and gender diverse people in libraries realize that they are not alone, and that their experiences are worth sharing.
This book also demonstrates some of the reality in a field that loves to think of itself as inclusive. From physical spaces to policies to interpersonal ignorance and bigotry, the experiences recounted in this book demonstrate that the library profession continues to fail its trans and gender diverse members over and over again. You cannot read these chapters and claim that Safe Zone stickers and “libraries are for everyone” signs have done the job. You cannot assume that everything is fine in your workplace because nobody has spoken out. You can no longer pretend that we don’t exist
The VIRMOS deep imaging survey: III. ESO/WFI deep U-band imaging of the 0226-04 deep field
In this paper we describe the U-band imaging of the F02 deep field, one of
the fields in the VIRMOS Deep Imaging Survey. The observations were done at the
ESO/MPG 2.2m telescope at La Silla (Chile) using the 8k x 8k Wide-Field Imager
(WFI). The field is centered at alpha(J2000)=02h 26m 00s and
delta(J2000)=-04deg 30' 00", the total covered area is 0.9 deg**2 and the
limiting magnitude (50% completeness) is U(AB) ~ 25.4 mag. Reduction steps,
including astrometry, photometry and catalogue extraction, are first discussed.
The achieved astrometric accuracy (RMS) is ~ 0.2" with reference to the I-band
catalog and ~ 0.07" internally (estimated from overlapping sources in different
exposures). The photometric accuracy including uncertainties from photometric
calibration, is < 0.1 mag. Various tests are then performed as a quality
assessment of the data. They include: (i) the color distribution of stars and
galaxies in the field, done together with the BVRI data available from the
VIMOS survey; (ii) the comparison with previous published results of U-band
