Detection of Phase Jumps of Free Core Nutation of the Earth and their Concurrence with Geomagnetic Jerks
We detected phase jumps of the Free Core Nutation (FCN) of the Earth directly
from the analysis of the Very Long Baseline Interferometer (VLBI) observation
of the Earth rotation for the period 1984-2003 by applying the Weighted Wavelet
Z-Transform (WWZ) method and the Short-time Periodogram with the Gabor function
(SPG) method. During the period, the FCN had two significant phase jumps in
1992 and 1998. These epochs coincide with the reported occurrence of
geomagnetic jerks.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure
Time-scale based detection of interictal paroxystic events in electroencephalography
The electroencephalographic signals recorded from surface and depth electrodes
are, in epilepsy, the basic elements for the spatiotemporal analysis ofparoxystic
processes . These signals can be characterized in the interictal periods by fast
discharges that must be detected. These non predictable transients are superposed
to a background activity which is itself a complex mixture of signals . This
paper describes a detector based on Wavelet Transform whose aim is to detect
theses events. A two stage structure is proposed : the first level carries out the
detection of all the transients (including the artifacts) ; the second level achieves
the discrimination between the events of interest and the artifactual waveforms .
The decision criteria associated to the stages of the detector are reported and
their adaptive fitting is emphasized . The resulting performances are evaluated on
simulated and real data and they are compared to another detection scheme which
A statistical model for the steady-state behavior of the multi-split LMS algorithm
Evaluation of presence and concentration of ppv in rootstocks derived from prunus davidiana (carr.) Franch
Evaluation of the presence and concentration of PPV (Plum pox virus) in selected rootstocks was carried out in 2016-2017. For the purpose of the experiment we used rootstocks derived from crossbreeding of Prunus davidiana (Carr.) Franch, such as Cadaman and Barrier, and also a P. davidiana seedling. Peach seedling rootstock GF-305 was used as a control. The rootstocks were inoculated artificially with PPV strain M (Marcus). Both the rootstock and the inoculum were tested for presence of the virus by a serological method - semiquantitative DAS-ELISA test and molecular methods - RT-PCR, real-time RT-PCR and RT-LAMP. During the growing season the plants were evaluated for symptom intensity by using a scoring scale. The results show interdependency between symptom intensity and the amount of PPV in leaves, with DAS-ELISA test giving less positive samples than RT-PCR. The RT-LAMP and real-time RT-PCR methods were capable of revealing low concentrations of the virus even in symptom-free plants. The lowest PPV concentrations of all the four rootstocks were detected by real-time RT-PCR in P. davidiana. The highest PPV concentrations were detected in Barrier rootstock. In inocula, the lowest concentration was found in the inocula on Cadaman rootstock, whereas the highest PPV concentration was detected in the inocula inoculated on Barrier rootstock.O
Statistical characteristics of formation and evolution of structure in the universe
An approximate statistical description of the formation and evolution of
structure of the universe based on the Zel'dovich theory of gravitational
instability is proposed. It is found that the evolution of DM structure shows
features of self-similarity and the main structure characteristics can be
expressed through the parameters of initial power spectrum and cosmological
model. For the CDM-like power spectrum and suitable parameters of the
cosmological model the effective matter compression reaches the observed scales
20 -- 25Mpc with the typical mean separation of
wall-like elements 50 -- 70Mpc. This description can be
directly applied to the deep pencil beam galactic surveys and absorption
spectra of quasars. For larger 3D catalogs and simulations it can be applied to
results obtained with the core-sampling analysis.
It is shown that the interaction of large and small scale perturbations
modulates the creation rate of early Zel'dovich pancakes and generates bias on
the SLSS scale. For suitable parameters of the cosmological model and reheating
process this bias can essentially improve the characteristics of simulated
structure of the universe.
The models with give the best description of the
observed structure parameters. The influence of low mass "warm" dark matter
particles, such as a massive neutrino, will extend the acceptable range of
