    An overview is given of the recently developed adiabatic-nuclei convergent closecoupling method for positron-molecule scattering. Fixed-nuclei single-centre calculations of positron-H2 scattering are presented. Particular emphasis is given to demonstrating convergence with increasing size of the basis and the projectile partial-wave expansion. Results are converged to within Β±5%

    The paper presents the research results of the effect of formation crack process on the parameters of the electric and acoustic response to impact excitation. The physical basis of mechanoelectric transformations is described. It was found that with increasing number of freeze-thaw cycles observed increase of the attenuation coefficient of energy of the electric and acoustic response by a linear relationship. Differences in the dynamics of change of attenuation coefficient of energy of the electric and acoustic response associated with differences in formation and registration of electric and acoustic response

    Elastic electron scattering by laser-excited 138Ba( ... 6s6p 1P1) atoms

    The results of a joint experimental and theoretical study concerning elastic electron scattering by laser-excited 138Ba( ... 6s6p 1P1) atoms are described. These studies demonstrate several important aspects of elastic electron collisions with coherently excited atoms, and are the first such studies. From the measurements, collision and coherence parameters, as well as cross sections associated with an atomic ensemble prepared with an arbitrary in-plane laser geometry and linear polarization (with respect to the collision frame), or equivalently with any magnetic sublevel superposition, have been obtained at 20 eV impact energy and at 10Β°, 15Β° and 20Β° scattering angles. The convergent close-coupling (CCC) method was used within the non-relativistic LS-coupling framework to calculate the magnetic sublevel scattering amplitudes. From these amplitudes all the parameters and cross sections at 20 eV impact energy were extracted in the full angular range in 1Β° steps. The experimental and theoretical results were found to be in good agreement, indicating that the CCC method can be reliably applied to elastic scattering by 138Ba( ... 6s6p 1P1) atoms, and possibly to other heavy elements when spin-orbit coupling effects are negligible. Small but significant asymmetry was observed in the cross sections for scattering to the left and to the right. It was also found that elastic electron scattering by the initially isotropic atomic ensemble resulted in the creation of significant alignment. As a byproduct of the present studies, elastic scattering cross sections for metastable 138Ba atoms were also obtained

    We present the first calculations that investigate the effects of both the MΓΈller interaction and close-coupling in the calculation of electron-impact excitation cross sections. Electron scattering from U 91+ is used as a test case. The RCCC method is nonperturbative and we emphasise the restrictions and subsequent limitations associated with employing the MΓΈller interaction in the RCCC method

    Determining the effect of the duration of alternating acoustic excitation on electromagnetic response parameters of the composite

    The paper presents the results of the experimental investigation dealing with the effect of the alternating excitation acoustic pulse duration on the parameters of the electromagnetic emission caused by interaction of acoustic vibrations with inhomogeneities in the sample structure, piezoelectric inclusions and media interfaces of different dielectric properties. The model sample was epoxy resin with quartz sand as filler. The electrical component of the response was recorded with a capacitive transducer. The acoustic pulse was generated by piezoelectric transducer at frequencies of 57 kHz, 65 kHz, 74 kHz, 87.5 kHz and 94.5 kHz with the pulse duration varying from 10 ?s to 100 ?s. It is shown that the reduced duration of the acoustic action leads to dominance of the intrinsic frequency in the spectrum. A contribution of tensile pulses to acoustic electromagnetic transformation response generation is revealed

    Theoretical and experimental research of electrical responses under pulsed mechanical excitation of different size concrete products was carried out. Comparison of calculated and experimental data shows very close agreement. The obtained results will help to develop new opportunities to improve the method of non-destructive testing of concrete by creating a bank of calculated electrical responses from products of different geometrical arrangement and elastic response and using them as standard samples for defectiveness evaluation of products according to previously established criteria
